Stake reductions in UK confirmed for 9th April

Hi guys,

It's been on the cards for some time, but the date for the stake reductions in the UK has now been confirmed.

Operators will need to implement the previously announced £5 limit per spin by 9 April 2025 and will then have a further six week to implement a lower £2 limit per spin for 18 to 24 year olds which must be in place by 21 May 2025. Source:

No surprises, but the news doesn't seem to be widespread, At the time of writing, I don't believe the Commission has broadcast this yet.

You must use maximum 6 squares first wipe
4 second wipe.
Third and all subsequent wipes up to #6 = 3 squares

No more than 22 squares in any one visit

Is the numbers halved if you use two ply or be given more grace for using old school bog roll?

It would be nearly impossible for them to run after every gambler and say that you can play them and you can't because we know that you're only 20.

I would realistically expect them to blanket fix them to £2 MAX to cover every visitor as it would be to difficult to police without staff being there constantly.

Theoretically they could enforce player cards that have to contain your birthdate.

Most casinos here have card systems and what you're saying would be possible. But then slot makers would need to tweak their tech to recognize age and then present suitable stakes accordingly.

Underneath that Start button are two digital buttons with £3 and £5 bets, and on other slot machines they have 1, 2, 3, and 5, which means they can easily set anything they want and possibly would be able to show age-based stakes.

Land based, my local has a couple of slots 40p min but all the rest are 50p min or £1 min.

I could be wrong but personally don't think this will happen, not anytime soon anyway.

Way too many low rollers make up a large percentage of the player pool who they'd lose or risk losing.

Not just saying this but actually mean it, if min bet on a game became 30p+ then 100% It would be the final push I needed to quit completely.

The majority of uk bookie sites have been setting loss limits based on credit checks for the last few years now.

Then if you want your limit raised they’ll ask you to prove you can afford it.

This pretending they actually give a fuck as opposed to being forced to, will cost them a fortune in lost income.

Yeah so obviously there are some background checks going on now, perhaps if you didn't win it back then you would have needed to send documents proving earnings etc, it's the net loss in a month. But by the end of this year things will be getting a lot tighter still

My friends dad got involved as I said about it n he’s in something to do with law so he grumbled n said do this, this and this. O idea why. Waiting for data, that’s it. Friends used MrQ, some male friends all go to casino all night but I’d hate that.
