I thought I would share this article knowing that this guy was against online gaming and was the man that forced Paypal out of the gaming business in New York which lead to Paypal ultimately pulling out of the US market for gaming.

This article doesn't mention gaming but has an interesting edge that he was responsible for busting 2 prostitution rings and now this.

From today's news:
According to two sources who spoke Tuesday with CNN, Spitzer hit the federal radar when a bank reported to the Internal Revenue Service that a significant amount of money had been suspiciously transferred from one account to another.

The IRS, upon investigating the matter late last year, found that the accounts were connected to Spitzer, the sources said. The IRS contacted the FBI, which joined the case to investigate the possibility of government corruption.

The FBI Corruption Squad linked the account transfers to a prostitution ring, according to sources. The FBI criminal division joined the probe to look into the prostitution ring, while the federal corruption team continued its investigation into Spitzer

I say! Isn't it nice to know that our money (which pays this man's salary) is going toward keeping girls off the street?

I have two words for him *&^% (*&^
Send his @ to jail like he sent the other one's
He's a jerk.
His wife can do better anyways without him.

if he used state money then he should be prosecuted to the fullest. if he used his own money, well, there are worse things in life a man can do. is it wrong to cheat? absolutely. is he the only man/woman in america who has cheated? please...also he is not "linked" to the prostitution ring. he was a customer. i shop at walmart. i am not 'linked" to walmart. he is a public figure so in theory he should be held in high regard. we all know different. i'm sure there are plenty of "high level" officials and "important" people holding their breath today. $5500 an hour call girls are not calling on guys who work at mcdonalds. he was a fool, got caught. his wife should clean him out. that's fair. she wont though. another dopey wife standing buy her man. then you wonder why he cheated. no consequences.

I think what makes this one stand out is the past image of a Crusader Against Crime and Corruption, and the man's high media profile and personal comments on crime (including prostitution) pre and since assuming the governorship.

And his attempt to investigate the House Speaker with whom he had an antagonistic relationship (to say the least LOL!) will have shocked some.

Watching his public apology on television, I found myself feeling more sympathy for his wife, who had been dragged into this humiliating public performance presumably to show that the governor's family had forgiven him and supported his continued tenure of office - she looked devastated and embarrassed.

From the p.o.v. of questionable conduct by a politician and role model in office, it's just another political scandal to which the public is probably becoming accustomed - there seem to be plenty of other examples about on the international stage these days!

"In the past few days I have begun to atone for my private failings with my wife, my children, my entire family. The remorse I feel will always be with me," he said.

Just like so many other public apologies, it's obvious his remorse is based on the fact that he got caught - not the act itself.

SPITZER RESIGNS (Update)

Net gambling opponent resigns as New York governor

In a perhaps inevitable sequel to events earlier this week when he admitted involvement with a prostitute (see previous InfoPowa report) the governor of New York, Eliot Spitzer has resigned.

In his eight years as Attorney General for the state prior to becoming governor, Spitzer became a high profile crusader against organised crime, Wall Street irregularities and illegal sportsbetting, and was critical of prostitution rings which he has been accused of using. In online gambling he threatened action against e-cash processors like Paypal and Citibank, hampering the use of financial instruments such as credit cards.

Spitzer was quoted at the time as saying: "Americans now waste $4 billion a year on this pernicious form of gambling. With this agreement, we will cut off an unlimited line of credit that was a jackpot for illegal offshore casinos."

According to Newsday, Spitzer's current troubles started when he split up more than $10 000 he wanted to transfer to an organisation that turned out to be a front for the prostitution ring. The split was to circumvent Federal law that requires the reporting of any transfer of $10 000 or more.

He then tried to have his name taken off the wire transfers, which the bank involved refused to do on grounds that it would be improper. The bank reported the transactions as potentially suspicious activity, and the IRS launched an investigation, initially believing they would find that Spitzer was the victim of extortion or perhaps find an imposter.

Newsday claims the case was later handed to the FBI to investigate possible political corruption, but the FBI case linked the money transfers to the prostitution ring instead. Federal prosecutors charged four people operating the Emperors Club VIP last week, before the announcement of Spitzer's involvement.

When his involvement in the prostitution ring first came to light, Spitzer made a public apology for his conduct without ever mentioning the specifics of the scandal or giving any indication that he would resign.

Since then, officials across the state of New York have been calling for his resignation or for the governor to be impeached because of his actions. Spitzer finally announced his resignation, giving Lt. Governor Paterson, who takes over, time to make a smooth transition.

"Over the course of my public life, I have insisted, I believe correctly, that people, regardless of their position or power, take responsibility for their conduct. I can and will ask no less of myself," said Spitzer. "For this reason, I am resigning from the Office of Governor."

NEW REVELATIONS IN SPITZER CASE

Another hammer blow for New York crime crusader?

Former relentless crime-buster and New York governor Eliot Spitzer had fresh claims that he consorted with prostitutes to contend with this week as the New York Post published details of his alleged involvement with a further sex-for-hire company called Wicked Models.

Spitzer recently resigned his governorship after admitting he had been involved with a prostitute (see previous InfoPowa report)

Apparently Wicked Models was visited by police earlier this week and its manager, one Kristin "Billie" Davis (32), arrested and questioned. Davis subsequently appeared in court where she pleaded not guilty to money laundering and the promotion of prostitution. She was deemed a flight risk and held on $2 million bail.

Quoting an unnamed source, the New York Post claimed that Spitzer had hired Davis on at least one occasion.

What a bs artist this guy was always on his high horse talking his "WE" are gonna to get these slimy prostitutes and gamblers and the whole time he is knee deep (or something deep) in the prostitution game.

OMG i hope his wife takes every thing the guy has. I cannot imagine how she felt standing up there acting like everything was ok.

If he was using state money for this they should throw the book at him. I love it when these holier than thou people show their true colors.

I believe this is what is REALLY behind Spitzer's outing:
