spamming from my own email address

Recently I have been getting mail sent to my spam folder with my email address as the sender...First, I dont see why it goes to my spam folder since my address is correct and would have been sent to my inbox. Secondly, how in the hell can this happen if each person has a unique emaill address BTW, I have a yahoo adress

Anyone else encountering this problem?

It's called spoofing... easy to do...

Unless of course you begin to see these same emails in your SENT folder. Then you have a real problem (malware/trojan).

Mousey,

Being the complete illiterate computer user, I do not really understand. A while back a bunch of friends got an e-mail from me, that I didn't send, obviously. Yes it was spam. Does that mean my e-mail addy has to be deleted and I need to get a new one? None of the folks got a virus or anything other than regular old spam. It only happened the one time. Dang, I hate feeling dumb!

did those emails that your friends received also appear in your SENT folder?

If they did, you had/have malware. Meaning those mails were sent from your computer.

If they didn't show up as being sent from your computer... anyone can put any email address as a 'from' addy.

If your address/contacts were hacked, you still have a problem... be sure you change account passwords often.

Nope, they didn't show as sent from my addy. My son told me to change my password, I did. The problem with that is I am so scatter brained that I change the password and can't remember it! Thank Gawd for post it notes. I stick them everywhere so I know what's what!
