Spammed in Direct Messages

I've received a Direct Message from somebody claiming to be an affiliate and using the username 'The Pokerholics.' It says they are a banned user but just as a heads up to others not to be baited by whoever they are. Its a shame they were allowed to contact me directly this way though moderators. Maybe we can do only direct messages from certain users or be given a choice to accept a message or not?

Yes, you're the second person reporting this crapola, I immediately banned the spammer upon reading the first report earlier on. This is why you you received the message, it was sent before I banned him, but you read it after I did hence the red name and banned status.

They didn't contact you through moderators. Just a trojan horse account, waited until posting enough to use the PM system then tried to get interest via PMs in using his stupid affiliate links.

No,I did not mean that I was contacted through moderators. I should have used better grammar to indicate to moderators my suggestion of blocking or accepting certain messages is all. Nothing more.

Anyone signing up and opening an account on the forum from the off is unable to send direct / private messages.

However, if anyone receives any unsolicited DM / PM they can as with posts in the open forum, click the report button. This way all forum moderators will be made aware and appropriate action will be taken.

FWIW I’ve check and verified that banned members cannot send Private Messages (PM) to anyone, as it should be.
