I've just started playing slots online and would appreciate some advice on the following ;

If I was for example to deposit £200 what would most consider a sensible stake per spin.? Secondly I like most enjoy chasing a bonus based on the above starting stake how many spins approx would you do per game before moving onto the next slot. Finally do you feel it's important to research each slots rtp or do most fellow players just pick slots randomly hoping for the best.?

I really appreciate you taking the time to read this post and look forward to hearing from any of you with any recommendations and advice on the above.

Thanks AJ

Hi and welcome.

It's a truly hard question with so many potential variables.

What stake do you feel comfortable wagering at? If it's £2, then you have at least 100 spins on a £200 deposit. Factor in some winning spins and you're looking at maybe getting 150 spins, which used to be enough to trigger a bonus round, but nowadays, not so easy to hit.

I would say, on a £200 deposit, spins at 50p Max, should provide a fairly decent session with the odd bonus round here and there (on "normal" slots).

Alternatively, my personal strategy is always: 50 spins @ 10p, followed by 50 spins @ 50p and then 50 spins @ £1 hoping to hit something along the way.

Good luck and hope to see some winner screenshots from you this evening.

50p seems like a sensible starting place unless you are playing the highest variance games out there (e.g. Relax Gaming, NoLimitCity) in which case you may want to start lower - you'll have more flexibility to adjust up or down as you feel comfortable.

Once you get beyond £1 the number of available increments varies wildly by provider and casino, e.g. your next increment could be £1.20, £1.50, or even £2... which on a £200 bankroll can go south very quickly - on an extreme variance slot, £2 spins could munch a £200 balance in as little as 5 minutes.

Finally do you feel it's important to research each slots rtp or do most fellow players just pick slots randomly hoping for the best.?
Absolutely check the RTP of every single game you play - a site like William Hill is already deploying slots at 88% and 90%, most are around 94% and very few still offer the full-fat 96%+ experience. The higher the house edge, the faster you will lose at average luck.

Pretty much what jasonuk says. The RTP is critical to how long your £200 lasts and the chance of having winning session.

Assuming 10 spins per min at 50p, a 96% RTP slot will cost on average £12 an hour to play, where as a 92% slot will cost £24 an hour!

I usually play with a $200 budget and typically stick to the 40-50c mark. High RTP is important, and I usually avoid anything with lower than 94% RTP.

Don't increase stakes unless you have a larger balance if you want longer play time. E.g 40c at $200, 60c at $400 etc.

If it is playtime you want, 50p is reckless. It is only 400x and you very likely won't survive the first wave of dead spins. At 0.20 you'll usually escape it with a chance to recover. Set that as your max bet untill you've buildt some balance. 😊

As an experienced player and the state of today's slots, I'd say no more than 40-50p max with that deposit size.

If you get ahead early and are basically playing with the casinos money, then maybe increase but say no more than £1 spins it can drain it really quickly on those bet sizes but you can also hit very nice sizeable wins too!

Good Luck

What slots are you playing where 400x won't survive the first wave of dead spins?

It'll depend on the type of slot - 50p on a NoLimitCity like Pub Toilet (the extreme variance comment above) would be insanity for playtime because you can bust out in minutes... contrast with 50p on most of the NetEnt classics at 96% and you could be playing for hours and would need to be pretty unlucky for it to go south quickly.

As others have hinted at, if in doubt start smaller...
