Slots, looking for information on how they work

After many years of playing slots and losing, I was looking for information on how they actually work and how they are audited, which has led me here. My eyes are more open now after reading a lot of the threads. It might not be soon, but I'd like to contribute - finding hard facts about anything in this industry isn't easy, and I think it should be a lot less opaque.

Maybe you or somebody else can answer this question - when one of the bigger slot providesr makes a brand new game and has it certified - is it common that they only do this once according to the rules of one market (with rules that match or exceed the others) for the 4 or 5 different RTP levels that a casino can choose, and then those versions will be used worldwide? Or are they likely to have multiple different versions available for different markets, and gameplay could be considerably different if you play the slot in different markets?

I can’t say for certain how they do it as all the places I have worked I was never involved in that side of things, but from what I know they would always try to be compliant in as many markets as possible per game due to cost. But I also expect there are some markets that do have seperate versions for example Germany.

They have also been known to have a different profiles on same game due to different exposure even if on the same RTP. Eg Casino A wants the same popular game as Casino B but wants less liability so a softer profile on the same RTP can be used. This often can be confused by players as one sites version is crap/rigged/don’t play the same etc. So I would say its most likely there are many versions of the same game.

Just to touch on what @Reelsoffun said - Do not also forget that there is also pirated versions of slots as well out there in the wild west rogue casinos. Those should never be played or trusted. Those have been rigged further to the house. So that might also answer as to why some players report the games are rigged. Not because of the slot. But rather the casino they played the slot at because they have pirated versions of them.
