Question SLOT OF THE YEAR 2018! We need YOUR choices!

Can I make a statement by voting for some 3+ year old slots?

Ok, fine. The “Best of a bad bunch” top 5 for me are...

1. Genie Jackpots Megaways
2. The Goonies
3. Turn it up
4. Deal or no Deal Perfect Play
5. Fat Rabbit

I think Blueprint have had a stunning year compared to everyone else and The Goonies May just be the best “traditional” Blueprint offering yet. However, just in case you think I’m a Blueprint rep in disguise.

TOSSER: Buffalo Rising Megaways. What a truly shower of shit this is and don’t get me started on the god awful feature buy.

I would have chosen a Blueprint game for the first spot but they, together with BTG, are running the Megaways engine into the ground with too many titles coming out left and right. It will get even worse as BTG recently licensed the engine to Storm Gaming and Red Tiger Gaming.

Microgaming has gone completely of the rocker IMO. Haven't played any of the new games from the last few years now and do not have the feeling that I missed something.

Novomatic & Merkur have to stop making slots for pensioners who are die-hard fans from the B&M days and finally do something creative as well as maybe for once use a different soundtrack.

Playtech and WMS are just at the edge of the abyss to disappear into irrelevance, same goes for Endorphina.

1. Vikings - Netent: Because they have finally shown that they still got what it takes to release a game we are actually talking about longer than just 2 days after launch
2. Afterlife Inferno - Leander: One of the few 2018 releases I still play pretty much in every session and it rarely disappoints. I also like the TSII/IR-style choice of FS rounds and the random feature
3. Baron Samedi - Yggdrasil: Simply for the attention to detail to bring Haitian Vodou on to a set of slot reels, plus it plays really well.
4. Peking Luck - Pragmatic Play: This is one slot that could bankrupt a casino. 180,000x bet as max win is insane, the chance is though probably 1:100 million
5. Genie Jackpots Megaways - Blueprint: Simply fun to play with reel modifiers that can produce wins in the base game that slots from other providers are not capable of in an entire FS round

Could have taken Napoleon and Primal Megaways too, but I have not played them enough to make a proper judgment. Close to be in my Top5 were also Ninja Ways from Red Tiger Gaming because it has such a high hit rate, Valkyrie from Elk Studios because I like the theme and Battle Royal from Play'n GO because it is a hilarious slot.

Tosser of the Year:

Wolf Hunters from Yggdrasil: simply because they make you wait to collect 600 wins (roughly 5 - 10K spins) against the werewolf to give you a bonus round that can pay virtually nothing. :(

1. Vikings™ (unique and fresh bonus feature)
2. Primal Megaways (Bonanza and Raping Rhino succesfully mixed together)
3. Baker's Treat
4. Jammin Jars (had to pick one from Push Gaming, any of them could do really)
5. Napoleon Rise Of An Empire

Toss her: Laser Fruits (I just can't stand it. I hate everything about it.)

Info for Mr. D...

I believe there are two games that are missing from your list.

1. Epic Ape (Playtech) - according to sl*tcatal*g.com, it was released Dec 14th 2017, so it qualifies for inclusion.
Note: It doesn't appear in your 2017 list (I just checked that thread to be sure).

2. Roar of Thunder (MG) - I've only heard of this game, because I'm a regular player at CR Group and got a promotional postal mail about it.
Roar of Thunder is a CR exclusive slot.
Note: And an instantly forgettable one at that.

PS Damn, that is one long list. And I can safely say that I have barely tried 5% of those slots.

1 - Napoleon Rise Of An Empire - I really like that this slot does the opposite of what most slots do - surprises me with wins that are way higher than what I expected. Two dudes on the line without a wild paying 40x was really nice, plus we do see 5000x screenshots here and there.
2 - Legacy Of Egypt - I love the feature, though it's very much hit or miss - it can give three empty spins, or keep going on for a very long time and we can end up with a nice win.
3 - The Falcon Huntress - I like the idea of expanding wins, and although the game is a bit boring sometimes, it is a very good design that I keep coming back to.
4 - Wild Heist At Peacock Manor - great feature that can be very exciting if we make some good picks, plus some random features to spice things up. A pity it's not higher in variance, but it certainly is an entertaining slot.
5 - Street Magic - haven't played it that much yet but I had some good hits on it and it has two things I love - sticky wilds, and a chance to hit the feature with two bonus symbols only.

Tosser: Playboy Gold, mostly because the first one is one of my favorites and one of the first games I loved playing, this one is pure filth though.

My unbiased top 5 of the year:

Extra Chilli - BTG
Lucha Maniacs - Yggdrasil
Viking Clash - Push Gaming (heavily influenced for hitting some big wins I must admit)
Gem Rocks - Yggdrasil (same reason)
Deco Diamonds - JFTW

My completely biased top 5, only comparing them against all other QS releases:

Eastern Emeralds - Quickspin
Dwarfs Gone Wild - Quickspin
Tiger’s Glory - Quickspin
Pirates Charm - Quickspin
Northern Sky - Quickspin

Totally RIDICULOUS - I have only tried 16 of those 355 new slots!!!
(And some of them only a small number of spins)

Of those 16, these are my Top 5:
1. BLUEPRINT: Genie Jackpots Megaways
2. BTG: Extra Chilli
3. THUNDERKICK: Yeti Battle Of Greenhat Peak
4. YGGDRASIL: Wolf Hunters
5. ISOFTBET: Chilli Chilli Bang Bang

TOSSER Award:
PLAY'N GO: Rise Of Olympus

Supposed to be a clone of Moon Princess??? I tried & tried, but it just robbed me blind every time

FYI, these are the only ones I've actually played:
NETENT:
Halloween Jack
QUICKSPIN:
Northern Sky
PUSH GAMING:
Fat Rabbit/Santa
Jammin' Jars
THUNDERKICK:
Yeti Battle Of Greenhat Peak
YGGDRASIL:
Wolf Hunters
ISOFTBET:
Chilli Chilli Bang Bang
PLAY'N GO:
Sweet Alchemy
Rise Of Olympus
BLUEPRINT GAMING:
Diamond Mine Megaways
Deal Or No Deal Perfect Play
Genie Jackpots Megaways
Buffalo Rising Megaways
RED TIGER:
Laser Fruit
BIG TIME GAMING:
Extra Chilli
Donuts

KK

I have not played a lot of the available games so my choices are limited.

1, Sweet Alchemy (png) played this a lot this year so I suppose it deserves no1.
2, Rise Of Olympus (png) man princess although a clone does feel like it plays way better than moon princess.
3, Tiki Fruits (Red tiger) good effort at a gemix/reactoonz style knockoff.
4, The Falcon Huntress (Thunderkick) TK although mostly lower variance have shown they can make some cracking higher variance games, this being one of the best.
5, Halloween Jack (Netent) *shrugs* netent slots are 99% trash but this is a clone of one of their better older games.

Tosser, Jammin Jars (Push)

(close one between Jammin Jars and Extra chilli

Dont think its been a very good slot year, copy after copy, crap after crap, even a copy of crap :D
Think its only 4-5 slots realesed this year i play every now and then and in no particular order.
Diamond mine
Napoleon
Primal
Donuts
Vikings from Netent

Tosser has to be Jumanji and Double Stacks both Netent.

1. Da Vinci’s Treasure - Pragmatic
It’s an exciting slot, the bonus can pay really nice. I like the graphics, it’s got the best theme by far

2. Extra Chilli - BTG
Excellent slot, very degenerate on the feature buy and frankly dangerous, but it was totally different and fun.

3. Peking Luck - Pragmatic
I’ve decided on this for its potential, it usually mugs me off and takes a billion spins to bonus, but it gets your heart pumping when it does land, it can go bonkers.

4. Madame Destiny - Pragmatic
Again another fun and exciting slot, it’s got a great bonus and I’ve had a fair RTP on it overall.

5. Napoleon - Blueprint
I applaud Blueprint for taking a risk, releasing a stupidly volitile slot, it could have been a massive flop, but it’s been a hit. I hope they go on to release more like this.

THE SHIT ONE

Deal or No Deal - The Perfect Play
Random Fruit machines just don’t work. It’s crap, it plays so slow and pays really badly. I hope they release this isn’t the future and stick to what works.

Thanks very much to Dunovers cat for keeping him on his toes and putting so much time and effort into this and the reviews.

Rob :)

Hey:)
1.BTG - Extra Chilli
2.Blueprint- Napoleon
3.Netent-Vikings
4.BTG- Donuts
5.PNG-Book of Dead:lolup:

My Top 5

1 : Donuts - BTG
2 : Legacy of Egypt - Play N Go
3 : Diamond Mine - Blueprint
4 : Wild Heist at Peacock Manor - Thunderkick
5 : Jammin Jars - Push Gaming

Tosser Award : Book of Gods - BTG

My nominations for best slots of the year

1. Legacy Of Egypt. I always feel that I am just one spin away from hitting the bonus round and I get a buzz of anticipation when it does. This slot can pay too.

2. Napoleon Rise Of An Empire.

3. Wild Heist At Peacock Manor - despite never seeing anyone get that golden ticket

4. Donuts

5. Extra Chilli

Worst? Too many to mention

Dunno about my top 5 yet.

As for the worst, it's a difficult choice between these monstrosities in no particular order -

A) Hardwell
B) Wonder Woman - Bullets and Bracelets
C) Spinal Tap
D) Almighty Reels Poseidon/Persephone/Whatever the other one is called (they're all the same let's face it, one would have been enough ffs)

I'm going for Wonder Woman - Bullets and Bracelets, simply because it's the only game I've played this year where I have felt a genuine sense of disgust. It all comes from that regressive mystery symbol reveal, where it doesn't have to be the same symbol across all reels. It's hard to imagine how you could come up with a feature worse than that quite frankly. It chills me to think that someone actually conceived that idea and ran with it, and no-one during the development process said 'hang on a minute lads; this is a bit shit isn't it?' Anyway, Wonder Woman - Bullets and Bracelets ladies and gents! Congratu-fucking-lations!

1. Pirate's Charm (QS)
2. Fat Rabbit (Push)
3. Gem Rocks (Ygg)
4. Baron Samedi (ygg)
5. Baker's Treat (png)

Oh and Tosser: So many to choose from! But i'll go with
Laser Fruit (RTG)

Honorary Tosser Mentions:
Archangels: Salvation, Platooners, Donuts, Wolf Hunters, Vikings Go to Hell, Wild Bazaar... jesus I could go on forever, I'll just stop.

My top five:
1. Tiki Tumble -- played this game quite a lot, love it.
2. Madame Destiny -- really enjoy this game even though i have not had the 5 Scatters yet :D .
3. Donuts -- annihilates the balance most of the time, but if you catch it in the right mood its a good one.
4. Vikings (NetEnt) -- a NetEnt with potential. I havent played it a lot yet but i think i'll keep coming back to it.
5. Viking Clash -- Like the Bonus on this one and the Basegame Ship Wilds can also pay quite nicely.

Providers of the year for me: Push Gaming (apart from Jamming Jars) and Pragmatic Play.
Worst Provider: WMS. Nothing is drawing me towards their latest releases.
Honorable Mention: I like what Blueprint is doing with the Megaways even though i cannot play their Games.
Worst Slot of the Year: Playboy Gold. What the hell did you do to one of my Favorite Slots...

Oh, @dunover didn't Pink Elephants get released this year too or was that really already during the last year? :D

Believe it or not, it was released in October 2017.

Yes mgb is right, Pink Elephants was 2017 and got a couple of TOSSER nominations last year although there are far worse games.
As for WWBaB I agree it was shocking shit, low-potential micro-win trash. Worst franchised slot I ever saw.

1 Quickspin - Pirates Charm
2 Netent - Hotline
3 Merkur - Night of Werewolf
4 Netent - Vikings
5 Blueprint Gaming - Napoleon Rise Of An Empire

I knew Napoleon's quite infamous round these parts, and I appreciate that it's different and has much appeal.

Just didn't expect it to rip me two new ones so remorselessly, yesterday :(

It can be a very, very volatile game mate.
Before this game came out, my worst ever start to a stint on a game was on Jungle Spirit, when I went "0 for 35" on my first 35 spins.
And that was a true one-off with that game, because I had never even managed to go "0 for20", before or since.

But then this game came out.

Within my first 20 sessions on Napoleon, I can say with absolute certainty I have had at least four starts where I went 0 for 25 on my first 25 spins.
Twice, I have actually managed to go beyond 0 for 35 from my first 35 spins.
My record worst (and I really am not joking here) was actually 46 dead spins from the opening 46 spins.

If you catch this game in a bad mood, it's brutal.

hey - thanks for the votes people but I noticed that 5 or 6 recent posters haven't nominated a specific TOSSER slot. (The worst one you think came out this year.)
It makes it easier to condemn the stinkers at the end!

1) Madame Destiny - Pragmatic
2) Lost Relics - Netent
3) Vegas Magic - Pragmatic - This is the best wagering slot that no one knows about, good mix of volatility and you can get some surprisingly big wins on it. I've turbo spinned 1,000 spins on this and it has held a balance really well.
4) Diamond Mine - Blueprint
5) Peking Luck - Pragmatic

Tosser: Jumanji
