Opened an account at an accredited casino.. 1st checking if my old email address were recognised as i cannot send from them as i have a new BB supplier since December
Deposited twice then cashed out £1000

:D

sent verification documents in..
they said there was a problem that ID was out of date.. but was within timeframe (a month old bill)
sorted by rep here

then i received an email

During verification checks we have noticed that you have accessed your account via the same via the same IP address as other registered account holders. We kindly request an explanation for this and In the interests of security, your account will be temporarily suspended until this has been received.

well there is just me on this pc/internet here.. unless some one is hacking me!

I won't name the casino as they seem to be very trusted and good reviews on here. also have no issues with there sister casino site..
Hopefully this will be sorted..

Most consumer broadband has non-sticky IP addresses- that is to say - you are likely to pickup a different IP periodically and it is probable that over time you will pick up one that another customer has used with that provider. It shouldn't be a big deal so i wouldn't worry about it.

I've never checked but I believe most mobile companies only use one or two "external" IP;s - best understood as being the IP your router at home has - all the devices connected to that have an internal IP. The provider only sees the external address. So in theory, there could be millions of people using the same mobile IP.

I'd be very surprised if the site wasn't more than familiar with both setups.

Thanks..
waiting to hear from rep and casino about what is happening..
upset as i thought i be treating my self this weekend lol

i have no idea about ur situation but i wanna take a guess for some reason(maybe im bored as doa has been terrible so not playing it today) about what casino u r referring to, is it casinoluck or next?

I had similar problem and i am pretty sure you talking about Betat Casino,so i explained what happened and they unblocked my account, that was last year, and from then i had few withdraws without any problem.

Its happened to me a few times
I tried to log on to a couple of sites but it said i was from a banned country, when i enquired on live chat they said it showed i was in the USA., they asked if i was using a vpn which i wasnt. after i explained all this i was good to go.

At one site i was told to restart my router as i usually leave it on all the time. It seemed to work after that and was able to login OK

Also i checked my ip on a couple of ip checker sites and it said i was in the UK so i have no idea what happened.

Casinos really shouldn't be asking users to explain what is a technical issue related to how ISPs and mobile providers configure their service. Users are generally not told anything about this as they don't really need to know. Most devices are set to automatically accept the preferred configuration of the ISP concerned.

This sharing of IP address issue will remain so long as IPv4 is around, and the more popular a casino is, the more likely they are to find more than one player having used a particular IP address.

Logging in from a mobile device, from a public hot spot, or from work, are likely to dramatically increase the chances of different players using the same IP address, and for a popular casino, it's more or less a certainty that this will occur. Asking users to "explain" tends to make some fearful of getting screwed over, and may end up losing the casino a customer even if there is nothing untoward going on.

The strong push towards mobile offerings will have lead to a much higher incidence of casinos noticing multiple players using the same IP addresses, conversely, avoiding the use of mobile can make it far less likely that a player will end up being asked to explain why other players have been using the same IP address.

The industry needs to look beyond IP address as a means of identifying multiple accounts as the problem of false positives will only get worse as more and more people play on their mobile devices. Download clients are probably better placed to identify individual devices than the more modern browser based casinos as they can read information direct from the device, whereas a browser would restrict what device specific parameters a server could access via a players' session.

We already see numerous instances of players' IP addresses being misread as from the USA, and more often misread as being from a neighbouring banned country. The problem here is that geolocation is a flawed technology as it relies on ISPs telling all the various geolocation services every time an IP block is reallocated to a different area. Even when they DO keep the geolocation data up to date, it may be a block that they allocate to a region of subscribers that is distributed either side of a national border, so for some it will return the wrong country.

The licencing system in the USA has refused the use of geolocation services as a means of determining whether or not players are in-state as it is not accurate enough. The industry there has had to come up with a different means of determining that players are in-state, and since such a system has already been developed, it's something the whole industry should be looking to implement as soon as possible.

Currently, it's possible in some circumstances to access a UK licenced casino from the north of France whilst appearing to be "in the UK" according to the IP address, which would be a technical violation of the UK licence. Presumably, the UKGC are not as demanding for accuracy as the regulators in New Jersey. Revenue would be increased because French play would be shown as UK play, and should balance out instances where it happens the other way around, although this might not happen so much as such play would appear to the casino as having come from France, and thus possibly blocked.

Great post, completely agree. Using IP in isolation is a flawed process as anyone with a modicum of technical knowledge would know.

Pleased it hasn't happened to me because i'd be rather irritated to say the least.

I've had problems with rival about this a few years ago, because me and a friend has the same ip because we played from the same (corporate) building with one public ip (as its often usual)

Using IP for these kinds if checks is totally stupid and shouldn't be done anymore. Everyone who works in IT knows that it's ridicoulous.

Well last night I pm'ed the rep and emailed the casino. No reply from either of them yet

Last night signed up to another acreddited casino. £100 deposit cashed out £1500 is now in my bank account. Such a nice thrill ;)

I have just had a similar email from Betat - I have only ever logged in from my own house, either from my PC or laptop so have sent them a reply stating this - I have got no idea about the IP, does anyone know if my laptop and PC have the same IP?

Thanks guys (sorry for being thick!)

For the outside world (i.e. the things you connect to outside of your home- i.e. websites) then undoubtedly they do.

That assumes you use a router with wired/wifi connections for both devices.
