Greetings all,

Thank you for letting me become a member of this forum and welcoming me into your family :)

Allow me to introduce myself:

My name is Jake, am 24 years old, from Perth - Western Australia and likes long walks on the beach :P

An avid punter, I'll never get tired of the rush you get whilst having a bit of a flurry. And that is how I've found myself on your forum; to be able to share that passion and excitement with like minded people who get the same enjoyment from this little hobby of ours. On my 18th Birthday (in Australia the legal gambling age is 18) I went to Perth's only casino (back then known as Burswood Casino and today is part of the Crown casino's group - so Crown Perth) and the rest is history.

Video Poker is my game, and something I take very seriously and am proud of my playing style and strategy - and constantly striving to create even better ones. I'm constantly theorising and and analysing my tactics and this is part of the reason why I love video poker so passionately. My 2 main games are Deuces & Joker and the oldie but a goodie 53 card Joker Poker. Not a fan of the bonus variants, I guess I just like the originals, with the exception of Jacks or better - that one is best left for those who have patience unbeknownst to me and not looking for any thrill excitement or feeling of any kind. Good on them - everyone is unique in this world for a reason, I say good on them. But for me, it has to have a wild card. For some reason (and this applies to slots too - more on that later) when a wild card appears it triggers a response in my brain which results in feelings of excitement - so to me it is very important that what ever game I play - it has to have the chance or possibility of a wild card appearing implemented into it of varying sorts and types.

I also love slots! I really do, and some of my biggest wins have been from slots and I'm not talking about Jackpots. But due to how seriously and passionately I take my VP I'd say that 95%+ is VP - it's just in my DNA and up bringing for that matter (Mum always was and is a huge video poker player - learn't the ropes from her - thanks Mum ^_^) but still love to play slots when I can or feel like it. I'm open and respect all types and forms, slots, vp, keno etc etc. and respect each person's choice of game - if that's what they like and get enjoyment from - then that's awesome and not something to be judged. We are all on the same rollercoaster ride, let's try and enjoy it all together.

Oh and finally - well it's probably something I should of mentioned earler hah! You are probably wondering which online casino I play at? I'm at heart a brick and mortar casino player, but due to my current situation, today I only play online. The online casino that I found to have the best and most unique VP and that you were able to sign up with if you reside in Australia (the best ones for some reason give the ole' "We are currently not accepting players from your country... sowwy ^_^") is PartyCasino. The main reason I joined there was because they at least offered a few VP games which had a feature game ie 4 of a kind of better unlocks the "such and such feature". I thought that was cool, and something I only saw in brick and mortar casinos. So joined there and have never looked back. But some of RTG's slots do look quite enticing - maybe for a rainy day someday in the future - but for now PartyCasino is my home and my front door is always open :)

Anyhoo, that is me, if you have read everything up until this point then I thank you for doing so and taking the time to. What I mainly want from this forum is to quite actually be part of your family. I would love to establish friendships, mateships, and being around positive people. I'm a people person, I care about others probably a little too much for my own good, but if you're someone I respect and value, I'm always one to lend a hand and support. I'll leave it at that for now and hope to create a long term relationship amongst my fellow men and women.

I look forward to being apart of your family, and looking forward to doing my fair share of the dishes if you know what I mean.

Jake

Hello there Jake and welcome to the forum:) That has got to be the most detailed introduce yourself post I have seen on the forum:D The only advice I can give you is stick to the accredited section and you can't go wrong. Also you can try some in the Baptism By Fire section. There are some excellent casinos there too.

Good luck Jake:thumbsup:

Welcome to the forums fellow Aussie. You will find a few like minded people who love VP around here to share some stories with but for me personally its to slow and boring (maybe I'm just not that good with strategy and all that jazz) and I only play it every now and again :P

Hope to see you posting around the place.

Cheers
Matt

Hehe thanks osulle! I really like how this forum operates and their commitment. Especially it came across to me in how they describe what their all about, felt down to earth in the way they spoke, and really loved how they promote donations to various charities - it just made me feel like there are a lot of genuine people here and something I felt I'd really like to be apart of. And after checking out a few posts and seeing the knowledge base and level of discussion - I just knew I'd love being apart of it and felt the need to have a slightly ( :D ) longer and details introduction and felt the forum deserved it :) I am also someone who tends to drabble on a bit ^_^

And thank you for your advice! I will definitely be looking into those :)

Thanks Matt!

I can completely see how VP is pretty boring - I even wonder why I get so much enjoyment from it - I think something must of happened when I was a child or maybe Mum got 5 wilds whilst pregnant with me hah who knows, but absolutely love my slots too, and sometimes wish I played it more. Nothing better then getting a feature that goes into re-trigger frenzy :D my best is 90 free spins at x10 on Aztec Slots, man was that a rush! I'll be sure to remember to post a screenshot in the post your wins section. :)

This forum has the best membership IMHO. Some great posters (Dunover, Nifty and Vinylweatherman springs to mind). Lots of insightful stuff and a good few laughs as well:D

I myself rarely play VP and when I do I use the autohold since my knowledge of poker is virtually nil. There are many VP poker players here though. You will fit right in here:)

Welcome Jake, I feel like I know you already!

You rarely hear anything about Party Casino (good or bad). I actually played there tonight a little, they sent me a free chip. Never played their VP though. Overall, I find their graphics a little out of date compared with other softwares. Mind you, I've hardly been through their whole portfolio.

If you get a kick out of some kind of bonus feature to VP, maybe check out some of the Level Up pokers from MG.

Since you seem like such a gregarious fellow, you might enjoy 3Dice and their chat feature. I love their VP, its interface feels most like landbased, and they have a wide range of games. Don't care for their multi-hand though, they fan the hands out all over the screen.

RTG offers my favourite variant of VP, Pick-Em Poker, (sometimes called Pick-a-pair poker), and pretty much the only one I play when I go to the B&M.

I'm mainly a slot player since I usually take a bonus while playing.

Welcome to the forum Jake.

Like you I love my VP and like you I prefer to play that in land-based casinos. My favourite is Spin Poker - do you have that in Oz? Also like the 10, 50 and 100 hand versions of Deuces Wild, Joker Poker or even JoB if I fancy betting higher but with a lower variance.

I thought you guys referred to slots as Pokies? :p

Cheers

Thanks Jasmine :) hehe I'm glad that you feel you do, as it must mean that we have a bit in common :)

I totally agree with you on the graphics, I'm sure it was stellar in 2002 but does feel a bit old fashioned. Only slots I play at Party is Aztec Gold, and Dynasty (hah don't ask me why, they were just two random games I chose to play and stuck with them since) I think you may have convinced me on checking out 3Dice, what you describe their definitely has me all over it ^_^ and I guess you could say I am a bit of a gregarious fellow :)

And I'll definitely be looking into Pick-Em poker and the others you mentioned. I have sort of focused too much on what I know rather then trying new games, and I'm in the mood to open things up a bit and for something fresh, and what you suggested sounds like just the thing :D Thanks Jasmine! I will let you know how I go.

Simmo!

Hey Simmo, good to hear from another VP fanatic :D haven't heard of spin poker but what I play when at our land based casino is Black Swan Poker (I think it's more of an exclusive game to this casino, as it is near the Black Swan River in Perth and I've never seen or heard of anything similar) and it's standard Joker Poker 53 card except for if you hit a 4 of a kind or better and it goes into a bonus feature with 5 free games. In the bonus feature all deuces turn to wild essentially making it Deuces and Joker but.... with the same payouts as standard Joker Poker! So for example, hit a royal with wild, usually paying 12 to 1 in normal Deuces and Joker, hit it in this and get 125 to 1 :D AND!! (hehe sorry, getting excited n all) if you hit a 4 of a kind or better when in the feature (which is quite easy to do with the 2's as wild) you get another lot of 5 free games on top of your existing free games, it can go re trigger crazy and I've won some pretty nice amounts playing that game. I reckon it's an awesome game, but have never heard or seen or even googled anything similar, but I love it.

Everyone in OZ does refer to them as pokies except for in Perth as they are banned here for some reason and not the rest of the country, that's the Australian governments for ya ;) but Crown has gotten around this and just called them something else :P like electronic gaming machine - with wager. hah

This sounds right up my street :D
