Will have to check from a test account ( I can see edit on all posts as well as my own ) - But I believe edit facility gets removed after a certain amount of time.

Yep edit lasts for a short amount of time to allow for mistakes to be amended and then locks in the post presumably so it can't be edited in the future to create misleading information

Yes, correct. Last thing any forum would want is for a poster to decide to remove all there posts by way of edit, some weeks or months after they were made.

I've edited posts from years ago, so no, the edit feature seems to remain indefinitely.

It's possible one of your awards gave you extra abilities? Maybe you are just neo and you are one with the matrix

As a newish member I can definitely attest to the fact the edit button never lasts long. Also a nice little feature is if you edit within seconds of posting, it won't say that it was edited. Good for correcting any errors spotted immediately after posting

IIRC the most senior levels of forum membership DO have the edit ability. I’ll check the Admin side to verify.

Okay thought id mention. Don't think I.used to be able to but like goatwack I can now edit posts no matter how old they are.

Yeah, not sure WTF has happened to change things but I’ve now confirmed that yes indeed the most senior levels of membership did have long-term edit abilities. I believe this was from back in the old days when people like spearmaster and Jetset we helping moderate the forums and this seemed like a good idea. We were *ahem* a little busier back then and needed the assistance.

FWIW I’ve now set all senior levels to 3-hours edit access.

As to the Report your own post thing, I know I’ve done this myself a fair few times and find it useful so unless there is a compelling reason to axe it I think we’ll leave that in place.

How customizable is it?
Can you keep the edit option there but remove the option to delete text from the original post after x amount of time for example?
I know currently it shows when a post was last edited, but it doesnt show what was added or removed, could additions be made a different colour or something?

Also, Max, if you need someone to talk to about your self harming behaviour i am here for you.
Not to talk to of course, but i can give you the number to a professional.
