Reclaiming cold case losses as a minor

Hello,
I lost money in two crypto casinos four years ago when I was still a minor. The casinos are still active. What are the chances of claiming these funds back from the casinos? One casino now has an Anjouan license and the other side has a Curacao GCB license. Since I found out that there is no possibility of submitting complaints to the GCB, I would have to contact an ADR. What about Anjouan Casinos? Does this licensor help in such cases? Both casinos also refused to provide me with GDPR information and have refused a refund. My messages are being ignored. Both casinos have already posted something here in the forum. Does Casinomeister help in these cases?

Best regards

If you were playing whilst underaged you are any entitled to any winnings nor claiming back losses.

If this was years ago it was likely during the time of lax kyc at crypto casinos, so they didn't knowingly let you gamble underage but if you go and tell them that you were and that you shouldn't have been allowed to play, you certainly won't get paid.

Don't most T&Cs cover this and entitle minors to be refunded as they're not legally allowed to accept the bets?

I doubt that, as Mullen says it’s clear in T and C that underage gaming is not allowed and is actually an offence in most countries. I can’t see you ever being refunded in the situation you have described.

@Avernite

I’m not sure about other countries but here in the uk being a minor would not likely see a refund being issued either. Also online it’s going to very hard to prove it was a minor that even lost the funds, or people would all be claiming there losses back “blaming” their underage children lol

@Jonasgamble

I would say with almost certainty that the money has gone and to treat that as a very early life lesson towards adulthood in that actions have consequences.

I think I actually committed the offence back when I was 17 on a few sites because one of the people in my uni halls was a big live casino player and I wanted to play with him 😵‍💫 was a silly boy back then and had no understanding of casinos or RTP either 🤣

@Avernite is actually correct in most cases, winnings are voided but deposits are returned.

In the case of these crypto casinos years ago, I wrote what I did for two reasons.

1. It's probably a common tactic to double dip casinos that were lax with their kyc so they are far less likely to comply even if their terms say otherwise because they've been screwed over with premeditated intent.

2. If money was withdrawn on the account the player would need to return it before getting their deposits. Whilst it would make sense for most of it to cancel each other out, it seemed like from a few of the terms I've seen that you would need to return winnings before getting reimbursed for deposits. Some sites do have "net deposits" language in their terms but many don't.

If he has played at a household name casino like Grosvenor, his deposits would be returned once found out and he would likely not have been able to withdraw. It's likely details would flag against electoral roll etc.

But since people could play and withdraw at crypto casinos without kyc it really muddies the waters and leads me to be of the opinion the player won't get a good outcome.

Minors aren't often charged with offenses in most countries. While it's technically illegal to bet underage, it's also illegal for online casinos to accept those bets and keep the money.

It's also really easy to prove. Transaction dates and a copy of your ID with your date of birth would be fairly evident of how old you are when making the bets.

Of course if they're a rogue casino you're pretty much out of luck jn terms of getting your money either way.

Great post. Personally never gambled underage myself but I imagine it's a hard world for those that did. Imagine getting a max win and not getting paid!

@Avernite

Well I know of two underage instances of underage gambling and neither got money back, one of them was a 15 year old that played on “dads” account “without permission” the other was on an account where they lied about DOB they were 17 and used a fake ID.

As far as I know in both cases no legal action was taken but they definitely didn’t get any funds back.

So I guess it really does depend on the circumstances on which it happens, but seems it’s definitely not as clear cut as people make out.

Haha had an underage PayPal account to boot. Had to use @googlemail ever since on the new PayPal as @gmail was linked to the closed underage one. iirc I only signed up to one or two sites and was promptly found out. I think my deposits got returned. Then I started gambling when I did actually turn 18, although I wish I was as educated as I am now because I definitely wasted some money back then!

Oh and speaking of PayPal for some reason they just permanently banned me a month ago for no obvious reason, probably due to paying someone friend and family for a purchase or something. Boooo
