Hey guys,

Would like to ask if you guys play in an online casino, is your intention:-

1) WIN MONEY OR
2) JUST HAVING FUN , meaning you don't mind your losses.

Sad to say that my intention to win money, and more money! How about you?

Win money is typically my intention. However I am resigned to the fact that the odds are stacked against me when playing slots, I am just hoping to be lucky.

It would have to be both for me when I was playing online. For entertainment value with the HOPE of coming out ahead. Losses were expected and wins just meant I could play longer.

Any honest gambler will tell you they gamble to win, losses are inevitable. For some it's the challenge of the game, for others it's pure addiction (the music/sounds of the slots as the reels mesmerize the player as they spin round and round), and for some it's chasing after that elusive pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. But how and when do you determine the value of that "pot of gold"? And with each big win, the value will increase, so the goal/challenge will always remain for some.

Remember the first time you went to Vegas or Atlantic City? The lights, the sounds of the slots, the coins (before the video slots :D) falling into the trays of the slot machines. Bells going off, lights flashing. All sensory catchers to entice people into playing the games. The sound of the roulette ball, the dice rolling across the table. The sound of the chips on the poker tables. All manufactured to keep the player focused on gambling. A kind of brainwashing, and it works. Look at how many people flock to Vegas and AC every year, go watch some of these people playing the slot machines. How focused they are (just watch out for some of those little old ladies, they can get viscious if you get too close to one of their machines LOL).

IMO, any person who gambles has to expect to have losses. It would be nice if you could win all the time. But it wouldn't be called gambling then would it???

I'm glad you asked, as I've wanted to get this confession off my chest for a while. I've been playing online poker on and off for about 6 years now, and have never once asked for a withdrawal from any of the poker sites I've played at.

I know what you're thinking, and no it's not because I always lose.... it's becuase I eventually lose ;) If I win or place highly in a big tournament for example I dont think: 'Great, thats a new TV'. I think: 'Great, I wont have to deposit again for aaages!'

Online casino's are a different animal. There I would play for fun or 'big' wins only. For example if I deposit €25 to play and work it up to £100 I dont hit the withdraw button, I just enjoy the extra play time. If I hit €500 though, I (usually:rolleyes:) have enough self control to press the wd button and log off.

Bottom line, if I dont get to hit the withdraw button, my secondary goal is some decent playtime. I try not to moan if I dont get either though. After all, like ksech rightly said, it is gambling.

I play to WIN - The entertainment is in WINNING. I accept that I can lose ... a lot ... and very quickly.

Any Casino that says that its for Entertainment is smoking some old socks. I am entertained by Slots but it ultimately and only boils down to playing to win _ The Thrill of upping your balance and hitting a large win is where the Entertainment lies....

If I wanted to have 'Fun' then I wouldn't risk money and go on to 'Play for Fun' websites and buy Casino Games.

Money$$$- I play 2 win and put losing on the same plane as nazis and pedaphiles!

To win, with some entertainment value..f it were just for fun, I'd play in fun mode and not deposit.
Yep exactly!
I agree with this and with Nate.

If it was boring - I would deposit.
If I didn't think I had at least a small chance of making a profit - I wouldn't deposit.

I played with both opened minded with your options, but never wasting money on it. Also, I love to play online casino while drunk. Its kinda mixing the winning money and having fun. LOL

I wonder if there's any person playing in an online casino who deposits in real mode and plays for FUN or entertainment??

Same concept when we go to a GAMING VIDEO ARCADE, we change our money into game tokens and spend on those video games like nobody business and having fun even though we didn't complete / lose the game!

Did you think about that? :)

But then you are playing for the prestige of seeing your name as one of the high scorers of the game if you're good enough? So, instead of monetary fullfillment you get an ego boost to see your name in "lights" so to speak ;)

Or little kids who get tickets playing games at arcades to cash in for cheesy prizes. The boardwalk in Wildwood New Jersey has lots of these gaming arcades for kids, it's like an early childhood gambling addiction thing. It works on the same concept of lights and sounds only the kids win tickets to redeem for prizes instead of cash. Crane games ranging in price from a quarter to $50 a game. And the adults are just addicted to winning these tickets as the kids are. (I know, my daughter and I got caught up playing this silly game collecting Wizard of Oz cards. I think we spent $200 in quarters on this game so both my grandsons could each have one set and they could get their picture taken in the arcade. Pure silliness!)

I doubt such a player exists. Why would you play at a casino with real money with no intention of ever withdrawing??

As for the Gaming arcade, I love those games, but the amount I spend there is considerably less than I would playing in a casino. Perhaps that's the difference. Gives me an interesting idea though... has anyone in the 'real world' created a slot machine with a light-gun attachment? Might make for a fun crossover game :) I remember the laser activated slots in Vegas near that Star Trek place. Lots of fun, but then I'm a sucker for a good gimmick.

I play to win, but hardly ever do. I can so relate to Ian though, when I get up a bit it's just so I can play longer or more or bet bigger or whatever. I rarely cash out if I'm only a couple hundred dollars up. But if I ever hit a jackpot, I'll definitely take the money and run! Well, most of it. ;)

It started off as pure fun and excitment for me but after a few years (I'm sure alot of you can agree and know what I'am talking about) it just becomes repeditive and you don't get that same feeling anymore so you start doing things like upping your bet to hit that BIG win to feel that excitment again- but even that gets old after a while and you find getting your 100X bet returns are just a normal thing and doesn't get the juices flowing. It started a while back for me and now I don't play HALF as much as I used to.

I could win $100 or $1000 and It didn't raise the excitment level at all. I knew this was a bad thing so I've REALLY cut back playing the last two/three months.
Now I will play probably 3-4 times a month in small deposits and even that gets boring after an hour or so. I usually go and do something else then which is great because I'm still well up this year (over $14,000) laying online so I feel I've got one over them.

Nowday's it's getting fit, playing with a VERY active 3 year old (you know what I'm tlaking about KK) or in the garden doing some sort of work, the old lady loves it and so does my boy so It's happy days in the house of Same_old ATM.

I Probably need to change software or something as MG and RTG get old after a few years but again I'm to lazy to find a new software/casino to play at because it all seems the same old shit just different day.

I play purely to win and secondly - entertainment value, however, after my recent big win playing VP the edge has somewhat lost it`s mojo, still ardently chasing that 1st ever true video slot jackpot though (barring UK based slots with a max of x500 bet size) as long as these casinos keep churning out all the hours of fun and sometimes a nice cashout to boot, then i`ll keep playing ;).

The only reason I play is to get that buzz from hitting a great win(or many great wins), that is an adrenalin kick for me, pure excitement lol
then cashing out my target, (it's easier to walk with the money when playing online, than playing a live casino:rolleyes:)

I play to win. Dont we all:confused::p:cool: In saying that, I havent won a thing in ages so I like to get as much play time as I can out of each deposit, so I guess though I do play to win - I tend to think I probably wont:(:p

For me, its not so much about the money as the adrenaline rush you get right before you hit the spin button (each and every time) not knowing what the outcome will be. That's why I like it when I get some play time ( more of those great moments of anticipation). I don't withdraw unless I have a substantial winning. I also only play with a budgeted amount of money so I don't fret about the losses.

It is also a form of escapism, especially when work issues occupy most of my waking moments. I can get away from those thoughts when I am in the casino, either online or land based.

.

Funny you should say that about walking away online being easier. I find it much easier, although I do find it difficult if I hit a big win right away because I haven't played enough to have my fun yet.

I just returned from a trip to my beloved Casino Rama, and for the first time lost money I couldn't really afford to lose. Not a huge amount, but it will mean broke broke until the end of the month.

Maybe it's because online is always there for me when I want it I find it easier to cashout. $50 can usually buy me an evening's entertainment.

I don't expect to win every time, but I doubt I'd continue to be entertained if I never won or cashed out.

I think I lose a fairly small amount of money for the amount of money I deposit and the amount I play. Online slots knock the hell out of those offered in Ontario in terms of payback percentages. Last year I was ahead overall, and the year before was only down $600, the majority of which was down to bank and currency conversion costs.

And I do sometimes play in fun mode, preferably with a small starting balance, although I up my bets to a level I wouldn't dare in real mode if I hit early.

I play to win aswell and go in with a really hard going-to-win attitude. I dunno how good it is though, as i often find me in a pretty bad mood when i dont win eventhough i know the odds are well against me when i start playing.

This attitude also makes me go on tilt pretty easy. Especially in poker that is where i can loose my whole bankroll in an hour if i catch a bad downswing. And then my mood is kind of ruined the next few hours.

That being sad i know deep inside me that ill always loose in the long run at casinos, and that im too undiciplined to be a pro poker player.

This + that im on a student budget, and the fact that i love cars which is more exspencive than being a gambling addict in this darmn country! and that skrill and that alot of other casinos wont take Norwegian cards does that i really seldom deposit from my own money. So i usually take advantage of freebees etc and iam probably plus 1000$ or so this year having deposited max 100$ of my own money totally.

I got like 2$ in my MB act now which im gonna deposit at mr green(nice of them to take so small deposits) to win one of the big jacpots later :). The right attitude, yeah?:)

If i dont i guess it will be a pretty long break unless i win some on one of the countless freebees around.

Depends on my mood and how much i want to spend.

If i want a bit of fun, smaller deposits, smaller bets, take a match bonus lots of different machine, music playing, dinner and booze etc  or even free play on stupid bet sizes :p

If i want to maybe a have go at some fold'n money wins, bigger bank roll, bigger bets, very rarely take a bonus and target 4 or 5 slots. but even then i still have fun.
