has anybody got a check in mail that was good and didn't have any problems depositing it. i took to my bank first, wouldn't deposit it. took to second bank investigated it said was good, but wouldn't deposit it because going through so many places said it looked like money laundering. took to citibank, says its payable through and they told me the routing is from branch they sold over a year ago. Is anybody having same problem? called golden casino/golden palace today and sent copy of check to them. they said they were going to send another check today so it isn't like they are trying not to make it right. i am just very confused about the whole thing. Wondering if anybody could tell me some information on how this works? Also i was told by second bank it was a draft not check. my understanding is a draft is garanteed funds. any help would be greatly appericated.

Just out of curiosity, when looking at the check, could you tell if it was from a US bank or a foreign bank? Also, could you determine if it was a bank check (i.e. a cashier's or corporate check) or just a check like a regular customer would have?

I've only received one check, it was a bank draft from Bank of New York (although the payer information was a German company with a long name) No problem (deposited at citibank).

...said it looked like money laundering.
Got news for ya... It is money laundering according the US DOJ.

I have given up on getting checks from any online casino. But thats just me and my thousands and thousands of dollars I can't touch whining...

I will NEVER use another ewallet like neteller or click2pay or mooneybookers your information is NOT protected, funds are not guaranteed and all the ewallet has to do is decide not to pay you and your screwed out of your money or they decide to release your information to anyone they want... Look at Neteller... they have US DOJ accountants going through all the US accounts right now.... Can you say... IRS audit?

With an amount that large you'll get a CTR done on you and probably have to answer some questions. You really should consider an ACH for amounts over 10 grand, more times than not they fly under the radar.

SAME CHECK YOU MENTIONED IN MARCH POST?

If this is the same check you and I exchanged pm's on you should have just deposited it.

I know your check was from a different casino but you said the account number and routing number were the same as the check I received from a different group.

Unless that particular group didn't send the funds to the processor to cover your check, it should have been o.k.

knock on wood, I deposited mine on 3/31, so far so good.

Also, next time if you are concerned whether it is good. Ask you bank to "send it for Collection". I just learned about this. The bank will not cash or deposit it. They will send it , I don't no how it works, to the bank it was written on and if it is good that bank pays on it. Then you bank gives you the money.

Banks apparently do this when they have concerns about checks for high amounts.

Also, mine was not a draft, it was a payable through check. Payable through checks are often put on hold longer than local checks.

The regulations for how long a bank can put checks on hold is "regulation CC"

BEST WEBSITE FOR BANKING REGS&RULES

bankersonline.com is the best website I have found for banking questions and information. Their forum always supplies answers to my questions.

Also, I have now learned that the check I mentioned above is not considered a foreign check because it is payable through a U.S. bank branch. that is why next to the words "payable through" there is a routing number that is different than the one printed on the bottom of the check.

Therefore, the U.S. bank it is payable through is responsible for payment not the bank the check was written on.

This is good news because that means it must settle within the Regulatory time period allowed for a u.s. check which I have now determined to be within 2 banking days of presentment by our banks.

So, if my check were to be returned now, I could file a claim for payment, something like that. If it happens I will research how to do it.
