Harry, what should America's immigration policy be?

Don't you think that is a very broad and complex issue which can't be put in just a few words in an online post? And are you referring to legal immigration or on how to handle so-called illegals in the country?

Anyone in the US except the natives are immigrants, so in essence you too and you ask me about how the immigration policy should look like. A bit strange, isn't it?

What about the dems response to the president's sotu?

What were they thinking...a car....with it's hood open to signify...and

They trotted out a Kennedy.. this is how they're gonna change the way this party is viewed.. bring out a man child from a political dynasty to appeal to... White men? White women? White privileged old people? Nothing against this Kennedy cuz he seems to be hard working...but come on dems....what is your message?
this party is out of touch...and will end up losing the next election cycle cuz yes they are out of touch but they don't have a unified message, they are scattered..

...and they can't fight the Russian bots flooding social media that retweet, repeat, and fbook the GOP/trump agenda.

He did a good job.....but I was too distracted by all the Chapstick he decided to wear....

More made up stuff.

Even the liberal media disagrees with you but ok. Here let me help

Home depot is awarding its hourly employees with up to $1000 bonus because of the trump tax plan. The bonus will depend on the length of time they have worked there. This is the same for every single company. And its seems like you dont know much about business and how that works because when people get raises and bonuses, the largest is not meant for people who have worked there for 3 weeks.

This has been confirmed by employees of the companies and published by left wing media outlets like CNBC.

Somehow though giving employees a cash boost directly because of Trump is a bad thing to some.

Oh and by the way I have so far found 4 CEO's confirming this is to do with Trump and not previous president or markets. But carry on with your fake facts as usual

Mr. T praising up to $1,000 in bonuses for millions of US workers because of his tax bill.....all fine and dandy. (the full amount mostly goes only to a smallish part of the workers in a company)

However, let's compare that to another country. Daimler announced today that all 130,000 permanent employees in Germany are receiving this year a EUR5,700 / $7,000 bonus, and that without a tax cut. BTW, that in a country with higher taxes than the USA!!!

Now that kind of money really makes a difference unless you believe the Mr. T administration (was it Cohn or Mnuchin, can't remember) that $1,000 can pay for a kitchen makeover or a car.

EDIT: Found it, it was Cohn: "If we allow a family to keep another $1,000 of their income, what does that mean? They can renovate their kitchen, they can buy a new car, they can take a family vacation, they can increase their lifestyle,"

That's the issue, you see them as "so-called illegals." That says it all.

That's the issue, you jump to a conclusion about me based on 3 words. That says it all!

1. adjective [ADJ n]
You use so-called to indicate that you think a word or expression used to describe someone or something is in fact wrong.

Well, your governments, be it led by democrats or conservatives, let the "so-called illegals" stay in the US for 10 - 20 years or even longer, a period where the vast majority has found roots in the communities, contributed actively to your country, had children born in the US, opened businesses, paid taxes and most of all --> does the back-breaking low-paid jobs no American ever wants to do, like cleaning your houses, cultivating your yards, picking vegetables and fruits, washing the dishes from which you ate your last burger, etc etc.

And this amid the largest police force, the most advanced surveillance programs, the largest investigative bodies etc etc. that an efficient detection and subsequent deportation shouldn't be an issue.

Fact is that you don't want and can't afford to deport them. And calling them after such a long period "illegals" is pure hypocrisy. By that definition, you could be an illegal as well, if your ancestors immigrated into the US illegally at that time, which was the norm in those days.

Hence, yes, the term "so-called illegals" is correctly used in this case.

That is the social justice argument I've heard 1000 times.

Illegals take those jobs because they have no choice. They either don't have any education, marketable skills or they overstayed their visa or arrived via the porous border. This is not a new issue, it goes back 25 years and one of the main reasons Trump was elected.

Who do you think did those jobs before the liberals changed the immigration policy to a family reunification policy that caused mass chain migration?

When push comes to shove, I find it hard to believe American's won't do those jobs. Who do you think did those jobs when I was a kid? Do you think the country will starve, houses will be unkempt, yards will be overgrown? If anything it will cause wages to rise and restore the middle class.

As far as deportations go, Google sanctuary cities and look at the images and see for yourself. You now have more rights being illegal in America than legal residents.

Those who come to America "legally" can prevail, those who don't get stuck in crappy jobs for years with little or no chance for advancement.

You said you are all for employees making extra money, why has your stance suddenly changed and has now almost become a tool for you to use as a negative?

And you cannot just start using other countries with different economies as an example. Thats some serious reaching.

Tell that to the parents of Tessa tranchant, Sarah Root, Shayly Estes, Drew Rosenburg, Grant Ronneback, Danny Oliver and Micheal Davis and when they went to trial the murderer looked at the families and said "fuck you all". And many more.

I mean, you can try and paint it as these poor little helpless souls but fact is countries need borders for the above reasons whether 7000 of them are law abiding citizens and only 1 is bad. Allowing an illegal to take one innocent life is enough. This is why there needs to be a process.

Your example is like saying someone murdered another person but because they decided to behave for 20 years, contributed to society and pay taxes, it should be forgotten. You know, since they contribute and all. And yes this is the case for some of the illegals who lives in America for years and the suddenly decided one day to commit a crime.

Laws are there for a reason. Be honest and follow them and do it the proper way like others who earned their right.

.
Just out of curiosity, and from a totally statistical stand point with the greatest respect of the victims of crime you mention: You say that that 1 murderer out of 7000 is not ok. What number is ok for you? 1 out of 20000? 1 out of 100000?

I dont understand what you mean? My point was no number is okay

And maybe the bigger question would be....how many Americans have been killed not by illegal immigrants but by Americans with guns....no one trying to regulate gun control....wonder why that is....

Right or wrong, the right to own a gun is incorporated in the founding documents, illegal entry in to the country is not. Nor is legal entry, its a privilege granted by the US Government.

In a country that was founded on multiculturalism the founding documents are what defines being American. Its what binds all Americans.

Hey I agree with you on all counts....I really do.

But can I ask a question
How do we stop all the shootings?
Cuz so far whatever we are doing is not working. And it seems that nothing is being done actually other than saying prayers and becoming immune to shootings.

Two thirds of gun deaths are suicides and a percent more (I'm not sure of the number) are accidental. Actually more innocents deaths are by drunk drivers.

I saw on a tv show that background checks need to be completed within 72 hours and if not the sale goes through.
The show said that background processing center is not allowed to keep records on computer and does it manually.
If that is true, that is pretty sad.

I found out over the holidays my sister and her friend were in Vegas during the shooting. Just down the street.
My sister is not even a gambler.

Oh my.....makes you afraid to go anywhere.
But can't live our lives like that.

Gun ownership has always been a contentious issue, but no one can anticipate the actions of nutjobs using them on an unsuspecting public. I suspect owning a gun does wonders for most individuals' sense of security, that they may not normally have.

Contrast that with London, where acid attacks are becoming commonplace. How does an individual defend themselves against that? That's the 3rd world mentality London is so desperate in embracing that it's not even shocking anymore. Not something you're likely to see on postcards or covered much by any foreign media.

That is scary

You still get the same answer. Those lives would not have been lost if laws werent broken to allow them in.

Yeah and you always see one side or a group saying get rid of guns so schools dont get shot up. I assure you, if you are sick enough to go and shoot innocent little kids, you will figure out a way to harm people without a gun. Bombing school, driving buses off the road...everything else.

There has to be better backround checks. There has to be better screening and I think that psychiatrists should be able to flag patients they find unstable in that sense.

Look at what Canada did not long ago. There was a guy here that went on a grey hound bus, took out a knife cut some 22 year olds head off. Held it up in the air and cut other body parts and began eating him. They released him back into the public and said he is at low risk to offend. Im sorry but you dont just suddenly change. This person needs to be locked in a mental institution for life. I personally thought thats why they had these facilities but ok. Until the government and review boards start doing their jobs, there will never be significant progress

Do you not think that this founding legislation document that was ignored and used at will as bounding should be revisited and changed instead of it being sited as all things right about the basic principal and moral of America? Are you not a Country of inward thinking people using it only when it suits you?

Oh my.....makes you afraid to go anywhere.
But can't live our lives like that.

Even though here in Canada these things are fairly uncommon, it does make you think. I went to the movie theater last week and for a brief second I thought what if. Its like the human body is becoming accustomed to always being fightt or flight mode. And being in a movie theater your brain can instantly realize there is simply no escape if a shooter decided to target you and your body can start to panic. Of course the thought last a minute or so and then reality clicked and said its very unlikely to happen here.

Have you ever been somewhere high, whether its overlooking niagara falls or somewhere else. You get this sudden notion to jump or a sense of panic to back away. Its because of cognitive dissonance which means your brain is getting conflicting signals and it tries to come up with a solution that results in some weird thoughts. Thoughts that you wont actually follow through with but it is the human brain trying to figure out what to do to get away from danger. Its the same thing when a person reads how shooters are targeting schools, movie theaters, shopping malls etc. It automatically takes a defensive posture and tells you hey be careful this can be a dangerous place.

The constitution can be amended anytime but its not easy.

It takes 3/4 of the united states and 2/3 of the both the senate and house to change it.

Since 1789, over 10,000 amendments to the Constitution have been introduced in Congress. Of those, only 33 were adopted and sent to the states for ratification, and only 27 were ultimately ratified.

Its only the far left progressives that want to ignore or rewrite the constitution to suit their world views. We see it all the time on college campuses when the far left progressives ban speakers they don't agree with. (the first amendment). They don't like the "right to bear arms" (second amendment) and want to get rid of it. They want to impeach Trump via the 25 amendment.

The majority of shooters (Las Vegas, a cinema, a church, schools) all happened to be Americans, i.e. non-immigrants. As this thread is dedicated mostly to Trump and his anti-immigration, I thought I should point this out (once more).

Trumps policy isn't anti-immigration, it's anti-illegal immigration.

And you are like a child who resorts to childish name calling when you dont get your way.

Feel free to try and have a debate with me and discredit anything ive said instead of getting mad and insulting people non stop. Oddly enough, Im the only one posting facts and backing them up with the OTHER sides details. I can be like you too though, say my opinion and then post an article from fox like its going to be some sort of confirmation.

But to be fair you have brought nothing up in here aside from snide comments so im not really sure any of that will change anyones mind. Im not the one who came in here on page 52 1000 posts in calling people names and demanding answers that have been asked and answered many times.

So again, read the thread, quote my older posts and lets have a debate. I look forward to it

Its called Ad Hominem and is a very common tool used by Liberals when they don't have anything left.

To be fair I would expect anyone who works in anything resembling the Tech industry to have these liberal viewpoints, they form most of their viewpoints from the sanctimonious social media companies, and we all know the issues that these economic giants have when:

1. Paying any sort of reasonable taxes on their billions of profits.
2. Hiring global specialist staff to work for them but wanting to pay peanuts for the privilege.

A denouncing of national boundaries hidden behind a so called "caring" liberal agenda solves both issues with a full sweep - try taxing a company where you cannot pinpoint exactly where the funds have come from and try enforcing a national "living" wage or decent standard of living for individuals where their income is undermined by foreign trained workers who come from countries where the GDP is a tenth of the western Countries they work for.

Its behind the liberal push for the EU - wage stagnation for British jobs year or year for the past 15 years, but hey - at least I can get a Starbucks every morning because they are staffed by EU workers used to a average monthly salary of 300 euros a month (Romania), who will gladly work for peanuts to be here. And you cannot blame them for coming - I would too in their shoes. But don't pretend it benefits the host nation in any meaningful way.

The whole thing is a phoney fraud and the people that support it are worse, as I guarantee 95% of them have been personally disadvantaged by the above but still merrily support it blindly by citing "Racism", "Xenophobia" etc till the cows come home. Only thing is that you probably have not had a payrise in real terms above inflation for years and you will be left waiting months more for that operation as domestic services struggle to cope with the influx that work for companies that pay zero or near zero tax.

Quote from that article...

But here’s another, unprovable theory that I nonetheless believe is true: The warnings were a false flag. The “accident” was faked. The powers that be — call them the Illuminati, the Bilderberg Group, the American Airlines Ten Million Miles Club — have long considered the possibility that the planet is on the way down, and decided to see ahead of time what it would look like. How would the citizens of the world respond if they believed the end was nigh? Would they take to the streets? Would they commit whatever crimes they could? Would they call their senators, their news anchors, their mail man? Think of nuclear panic as a social experiment meant to crack our souls open and reveal the deepest, instinctive fears possible. I mean, really: How weird is it that this happened twice within two days? Very. You think this was an accident? You think a fuck-up this epic wasn’t focus tested ahead of time by the lizard cabal that lives at the center of the Earth? Get fucking real

I think the section in bold tells you everything you need to know... i guess dealing in facts is out of the question...

A false flag isn't an illusion or a faked event. It's not a hologram. It's not a social test or experiment. To be considered a false flag event, PEOPLE MUST DIE and the blame is attributed to an individual or group in an effort to either redirect a narrative or effect political reform or agendas. (911/war on terrorism Sandy Hook and Las Vegas/gun control)

I guess personal experience, instinct and spidey sense are all inconsequential? Searching for the truth, putting peoples feet to the fire, and keeping the flames of outrage lit are the actions of imbeciles? Tell us, trancemonkey, what should we believe? How do we get to the truth? The facts? You are apparently from a country where the government: Tells no lies. Hides no truth. Protects ALL their citizens. & Wouldn't dream of colluding with enemies for personal gain.

How fortunate for you! This must be why you and others that hail from other counties consider yourselves qualified to dismiss what EVERY SINGLE AMERICAN on this thread has to say about their president or country.

Not one American on this thread has made the claim our country or our president is perfect. What we have shown is a collective desire to unmask wrongs and make them right -- all the while supporting our chosen leader. It is a fact that our country was born of imperfect men and women with the courage and will to establish a country that is governed by it's people. I feel a connection to these people because of President Trump. We have , admittedly, made mistakes. We're working on this. Say what you will about Trump, HE is the reason that our country is waking up.

ANNNND if we're being completely honest... President Trump is the reason the WORLD is WOKE. I'll convey your thanks . You're welcome.

Claiming, amongst other things, that they bring crime to the country - you get my point.

Also, Trump's controversial immigration ban involved mostly Muslim countries, and these were NOT illegal immigrants.

I am asking myself whether you are deliberately overlooking facts or are you really that uninformed?

1. Liberals - it amazes me that you always find a reason to blame liberals for everything you can think off. Do you really think that republicans are innocent angels?
2. Chain Migration - this is part of your legal immigration policy, has nothing to do with illegals
3. Mass Chain Migration - average wait to bring just one relative to the US is over 10 years! Can hardly be mass migration
4. Porous Border - you have one of the best secured borders in the world if not the best, half of which are natural barriers. His wall certainly won't make a difference. The drug cartels are laughing their heads off. Instead he could do something to reduce the demand for drugs in the US, the money would be certainly better spent.
5. US immigration - the US has seen legal and illegal immigration ever since 1924. The average numbers have not changed dramatically in nearly a century.
6. Americans won't do those jobs - those jobs have been done by illegals for decades, the current generation doesn't even know how to do them and certainly does not want to do them. Go ask a farmer what happens when he employs Americans to pick his vegetables.
7. Restoring the middle class - that will never happen, no matter what, as long as Republicans give 80% of a tax cut to corporations and the top 1% of your population
8. Sanctuary cities - came along in the 80's only, last I checked you had a republican president at the time. Illegal immigration started way before that.
9. Your comment in another post: "Trump's policy isn't anti-immigration, it is anti-illegal immigration" - he is against any immigrant that is not of white color, preferably from developed countries. Only that those people are to a vast majority not interested to immigrate to the US. On top he wants to stop the visa lottery and chain migration, both part of your legal immigration policy.

Extra Points:

1. Do you see Trump's plan?
1.1. Put people in charge of agencies / departments that either have no clue about the matter or have been fighting against those agencies in the past:
a.) EPA - Scott Pruit, sued the EPA repeatedly in the past.
- One example - according to verified records, within hours of meeting the CEO of Pebble he withdrew an Obama-era plan to protect the Bristol Bay and allowed Pebble to file a application to build a copper mine. Plenty of other examples available
- Scientist are not allowed to use the words "Climate change"
b.) HUD - Ben Carson - a doctor in charge of housing, on top handing openly work to his son's company
c.) Education - Betsy DeVos - her senate hearing was hilarious, showing how unqualified she is
d.) CPB - Mick Mulvaney - he fought lock, stock and barrel against the agency and is now in charge
...list by far not complete, more examples available

1.2. Tax Bill and Trump Lies
a. Trump quote: "This tax bill is not good for me. And I have lots of rich friends who are not happy, but that is OK, believe me!
- in his speech on New Year's eve in front of his millionaire and billionaire friends he said (there is a record of that): "You all got a whole lot richer"
- pass-through businesses: exactly what Mr. T is operating in the dozens, instead of closing the loopholes he made them wider, benefiting him in the millions
- "death tax" eliminated: saving Mr. T's children probably billions of $.
- list by far not complete
b. Trump quote: "This will greatly benefit the middle class"
- Paul Ryan retweeting a teacher getting $1.50 more per week. Wow, that sounds like a great benefit!
c. Treasury will suffer badly because tax revenues will decrease
- watch the next 1 - 2 years when the first cuts will be made to social security programs

1.3. Mr.T daily lies and exaggerations
- Mr. T. is just purely lying day-in, day-out
- Last most prominent:
--> biggest tax cut in history - it is clearly not
--> My SOTU TV Audience was the largest ever --> it was by far not! That shows either stupidity to do a simple Google search or he really knows that his supporters will believe him
--> Nunes Memo totally vindicates me --> there is not a single word in the memo that refers to that

1.4. Mr. T's attacks on your institutions and the free press
- no need to give you examples but FBI, DOJ, all press that is not reporting favorable of Mr. T and others are constantly being attacked and denunciated, only Fox News is good.
- plus see point 1.1.

1.5. Mr. T wants new nuclear weapons with lower yield that he could deploy easier
- do we need another arms race?
- currently, we have enough nuclear warheads to erase multiple times all life on this planet and he wants new ones and more of them???

1.6. Mr. T attacking verbally and breaking ties with your closest allies including NATO countries, Australia etc.
- but welcomes and lauds "wannabee" dictators such as Erdogan, Putin, Duterte, etc.
- we take names of anyone who votes against us (Trump and Haley)
- more examples are available

1.7. M. T is best at everything
- anything what was done by previous administrations, especially Obama, is marked by Mr. T as the worst, disastrous, very bad and other expletives
- anything he does is the best, tremendous, very big, huge and other exaggerations
- Can you really believe in such a person who thinks like that???

1.8. Mr. T blaming anyone but himself
- for everything negative he finds someone to blame, and if he can't find one it is Obama / Hillary / emails / server / etc
- I am willing to take bets on who he will blame when the stock market will do the expected downward correction of 10 - 15% ---> my bet is Obama or Yellen.

1.9. Mr. T claiming he has the best people
- numerous times he touted that he has only the best people around him
- the soon they don't benefit him anymore he calls them liars, low-level volunteers, coffee boys etc.
- does it not raise suspicions for you?

2.0. Mr. T shows no respect
- belittles everyone on Twitter that he has a grudge on, these are partially people who have spent their lives serving your public
- brings up his inauguration crowd and blasts the press in front of a wall with stars honoring intelligence officers who died in service (his grief was more important)
- has a Andrew Jackson painting as background when honoring Navajo Code Talkers and makes a joke about Pocahontas.
- tons of more examples available

2.1. Mr. T hot to go to Davos
- Why do you think he went to Davos this year?
- My opinion: All the previous years he was never invited to attend because nobody took him serious although he claimed to be that shining estate guru worth billions. He knew exactly that now as POTUS they could not decline his appearance.

The list could go over multiple pages, but I think you get the picture. These are my thoughts and opinions about your Mr. T based on what I read, see and hear daily from multiple sources.

You said you are all for employees making extra money, why has your stance suddenly changed and has now almost become a tool for you to use as a negative?

And you cannot just start using other countries with different economies as an example. Thats some serious reaching.

Of course I am all for workers to get extra money. My example is only showing what companies can do when they want to, no need for a huge tax cut, just appreciation and respect for their work force.

Why can it not be compared to another developed country? It's not like I compared the US to "Nambia". :D

How can you compare illegal border passing to a murder? In no way did I imply that a murder should be forgotten just because the murderer has behaved for 20 years and paid taxes.

Laws are surely there for a reason, a small minority of illegals, legals and Americans decide to break them, that is part of our society, unfortunately.

Laws are surely there for a reason... Are you even thinking about what you're saying? We have laws against illegal immigration. The Laws are clear. There would be no illegal immigration discussion if the TOOLS needed to enforce the Laws were present. Like... oh... I don't know.... A WALL?

Come on, Harry! Your sources can't possibly be so doom and gloom! :p I think you might be missing the best parts.

For example:

"The negotiations between the President and the Democrats' top leader in the Senate were ultimately unsuccessful in trying to strike a bargain and prevent the shutdown that lasted over the weekend.

Schumer also shared what the two had for lunch: cheeseburgers.

"I am trying to lose a little weight. So I have for lunch usually a cheeseburger with no bun. And he served it. I guess they must have asked somebody," Schumer said.

Schumer continued, "And (Trump) had a cheeseburger with a bun and a whole lot of French fries. I said, 'You're not really paying a lot of attention to your diet.' He said 'no.'"

How did the White House know that Schumer didn't eat buns? HAHAHA!
You know he had to be a bit unnerved when they set his plate in front of him, especially with all this recent FISA wire tapping business. lololol!!

Ever since the first Immigration Act, the US has more or less condoned / tolerated illegal immigration. It is not a new phenomena. Why have laws not been enforced? The TOOLS have been there at all times. In my opinion, because overall the US is benefiting from illegal immigrants, pure and simple.

In the past years the majority of illegal immigrants are people who entered the US on a valid visa and are overstaying it. The Trump Wall will not change that, not in the slightest. Building it is not going to stop drug cartels / illegal immigrants, not in the slightest but it will make sure Mr. T can brag about it to his supporters

Only the majority of Trump supporters want it. All polls from the first time he mentioned it during his campaign until today have consistently shown that overall more than 60% do NOT want the wall. A simple Google search would have shown you that.

Ummmm... Hillary and the Main Stream Media's face plant on election day ring a bell?
Polls do not reflect American opinion accurately. A simple Google search would have shown you that.
Harry. Seriously. I can't think of one rational reason (aside from an obviously distorted and condescending view of Americans) why you insist on pounding out contradictions to statements made by Americans about America. Where is the logic in that?

You're wrong. You don't know what you're talking about. Gesus. The yearly statistics show that Visa Overstays only outnumbered border crossings since Trump took office. Previous years, the majority were border crossings. And Border Crossings are again increasing. Google it.

Edited to add:

What, Harry? You didn't see the humor in Schumer's bun-less nothingburger?

Sigh...I can't help you.

I can dig out the numbers for 2014 - 2017 if you need more evidence! "Gesus" the stats from your agencies show that you are wrong in your statement. :D
