There is an a-hole out there in cyberland who is attempting to sell player lists. He is contacting various affiliate managers offering to sell this garbage. Fortunately, this was forwarded to me by an affiliate manager who is concerned about this as I am.

For one thing, I think it's bullshit. I really don't think this person has this information. He's contacting people via a yahoo account. And if you're stupid enough to purchase this spam list....

Another thing, most casinos keep their databases encrypted and under lock and key. This guy is trying to come across like this is easily obtainable information.

Also, this is a reason why it is important to sign up at casinos using different email addresses. This way if a database gets compromised, you know where it happened.

Greetings,

I am writing to you to offer you a unique opportunity to obtain large scale databases of known gamblers for use in your direct mail and email marketing activities. The databases listed below are all available for purchase as a package deal at a rate of $15,000 USD. They may only be purchased one time as a package, and not broken up into smaller sales. These are all complete databases with known, purchasing players. If you would like to acquire this data, please reply to this email and I will write back with payment instructions.

Kind regards,

CM702

Hmm, I wonder if this is real. It has more detail than the usual scam lists.

But then this could be easily faked.

$15,000 is awfully cheap - unless he plans to sell to all takers. Real opt in lists for sale usually cost ten to twenty times that, cover only one property and are only sold once or twice.

My guess is that this is fake.

That's what I think. The guy's name is in the email (I removed it for the posting) and he has a semi-prominent site (sportbooks).

He probably has made a couple of enemies in this industry and someone is trying to make him look bad.

The reason I'm posting this is to nip this in the bud right off the bat (wow, two idioms in the same sentence!). Purchasing lists like this is nothing but trouble.

Addresses

I'm not sure about using different E-mails at diffenent casinos. When I started playing I got the impression that this would get you flagged as "suspicious". I have also been told that I must use the same E-mail address that I use for my deposit options; in particular that my Neteller E-mail must be the same as my casino registered E-mail or I cannot be paid via Neteller. I have not heard anything to contradict this view since.

Samples are customary, extensive samples, but I bet this one wouldn't give you any samples.

You can buy junk lists with names all over the place - this maybe some of those, with the guy going through some trouble to make them look gambling oriented.

If he makes enough sales it'll be well worth his trouble.

Data Fields Included: Account Number, Password, Name, Postal M! ailing Address, eMail Address, Phone Number, IP Address

All this on a sportsbook that caters towards high-rollers. Yeah, right.

If all my info was really on this list, I'd close my account immediately even if it meant the end of -105 hockey, -104 football, and a Formula 1 handicapper who doesn't seem to follow the sport at all.

Oh, and the WWTS entry apparently doesn't have emails, but also has emails.

I'll undercut him you can have mine for $5 lol I am a high roller (in my scale of things) sometimes I deposit $50 lol

I say Hang Him and Hang Him High ! That's all I need is more damn spam....jeeze.... how in the hell could he have gotten this from Bodog if in fact he really does have this list ?:mad::mad:

I think it's fake too because how would he be able to get all of the balances of the players accounts. Its one thing to get a hold of a username, but to get all of the pw's too?

Keep in mind this is a two year old thread:eek2:

Ahh Hell !, thanks Lojo for pointing that out. I did not even pay attention to the date Meister posted it and then rob3786 resurrected it today, but I do think it makes some sense now considering all the lame ass spam that I have received over the past year from places that I knew could not have had my email address any other way other that maybe purchasing a list to get mine...

NOTE: My previous post still stands though....

There was some speculation (and denials ) that a major affiliate program 'moderator' offered lists for sale, but i won't cast aspursions. I think this happens more often than we know. I've started seperate email accounts for casinos and so far all is clean, but it is probably just a matter of time. There are a few I'm actually trying to 'trap' right now :D

edit: Got one!!! Maybe... anybody know how to read full headers in gmail? This is the first ever casino spam I've gotten on a gmail account and Gold VIP CLub is the honored casino that has this particular e-addy

The link goes to GoldenGate casino, with no active buttons but downlaod, and guess what it downloads? GOldVIP Club... coincidence? Stupidity? Hmm.

chaofeng has several google entries in chinese.. none of the top four related to gambling, and though the google chinese translator leaves a lot to be desired, the message boards are obviously dissedents speaking in code. Oh, what a fun mystery today has granted me.:D
