Politics and big money - a dangerous mix

In politics today what the voter wants is immaterial. The concern of big money is more important. I find this to be hypocritical. The adage money talks and bulls**t walks is alive and well. Why do people even bother to vote since the politicians do not have their best interests at heart. This ruling is wrong IMHO because if a politician receives a substantial donation it is clear the money is in return for something.

You can say that again. I used to live in America but left a while ago so I have become out of touch with the politics. Correct me if I am wrong but a few years ago weren't there pledges made to revamp the political contributions structure?

Thought I was cracking up for a moment. (then I realized I cracked up years ago)

There were moves in Congress after the Casino Jack affair (btw a good movie with great acting by Kevin Spacey) but it seems there was little real appetite among politicians for really effective restrictions - hardly surprising since their campaigns benefit and in some cases depend on the support of people with lots of cash and an agenda.

But the blatant and aggressive manner in which Adelson wields his financial clout is really pushing the envelope imo.
