Been a bad couple months, first the once highly popular PKR goes tits up, and now within last week informed that WSOP is also closing its doors.

So we've got Poker Stars and iPoker network. Will it soon be just those two sites and nothing else?

Probably.
Who plays online poker any more these days? Just professionals, idiots and bots... :(

I used to play True Poker every day, then switched to PKR. But not often. Then PKR apparently got rid of the only reason I played there: the superb animated graphics. Now they've gone (with some of my money I guess - sure I had some in there)

Shame, but things are always changing with online gaming - nothing stays the same for long...

I'm not sure what world you guys live in, but online poker is alive and well. It's not thriving like it was in 2006, but it's doing just fine. My business, as an online poker pro as well as an online poker affiliate, is near all time highs.

By the way, there is a website called PokerScout. Check it out. It is the industry leader in tracking poker site liquidity. There are over 70 poker networks listed there and you can see their daily average players online at any given moment, peak players, etc.

Well, I play every day at Intertops Poker! I don't think they are going anywhere.

Intertops is on the revolution network. It's quite dead since many years.

Pokerstars, Full tilt, Ipoker and microgaming network are full of players though.

Poker has been dead for like 10 years now, You are a little late.;) Uhhh I thought Full Tilt was no more? Did pokerstars not get rid of them and it's just 1 site now?

I have been thinking about playing again though and just did some updates this morning and have looked on stars.

They say putting cash on games makes them interesting but poker is such a boring game that even cash doesn't save it.
I'd rather go play DOTA 2 or something like that.

I play at betfred and stars Betfred has a great poker client and incentives plus you don't lose your ranking if you stop playing a whiley yes poker stars that was a massive dig...

.I'm level 4 grinder though so watch out if Dave is about

Amaya (poker stars) bought Fulltilt and their debt after black friday just to be sure no one can ever compete with them. And they were right about it.

So played 1st game online on stars in over 2 years, Knowing it will probably be bad and it was in some cases, same usual disconnects, They banned certain functions of software which may be a good or not so good thing.

Finished on the bubble in 4th in a 12 man sit n go which was the usual for me, But I barely played a hand. Nobody plays mtt sng anymore so traffic is low in the smaller entrants ones so poker is dead in that regards but you can say not dead in certain games I guess.

ummm ya not sure, Might just have to stick with slots.

Intertops has been around for 30 years. I've actually met some of the people that work there. They are all about steady growth and not doing anything stupid. Quality people. Quality poker room.

Intertops is on the revolution network. It's quite dead since many years.

Actually, the network is no longer called "Revolution". It was rebranded as the "Horizon Network" after Lock Poker failed a couple years ago.

I think Stars buying out Full-Tilt had more to do with getting back on the good side of the US government/department of justice than anything else. Full Tilt had essentially already failed seeing as how it was short hundreds of millions of dollars. I think Stars was also trying to purchase some goodwill and avoid "Bad Actor Clauses" in future state/federal regulations that would keep them out of various US markets for years at a time.

I'm not sure how you can say that. PokerStars has over 18k consecutive cash game players at any moment in time. Tournament and SNG volume is larger than that!

I meant the games I played 18 or 27 man sit n gos. Lucky if you see 2 tournaments going at once now where years ago their were many going. I dont know what the strategy is now anyway lol.

If I had to guess I'd say this is due more more to the popularity of Spin and Goes rather than the unpopularity of 18/27s. Spins soaked up a lot of liquidity. From other forms of SNGs as well as from cash games. The recreational players just love em.

Just played another ko sng and finished 2nd again. Boy I just might have to try and play more if it goes this way, lol. I am more trying to play with a just as a hobby attitude now but felt even better this game than the last. Going better than I thought even though I am not playing the best I can some hands.

I was 98% fave on the flop on the last hand and yup I still lost.

You should try bounty builder tournaments. Maybe try to improve your game? You can watch lex veldhuis, pokerstaples or team never lucky on youtube it should help the basics.

Bounty builder sounds interesting, Not much into mtt's but did play them the first few years here and there Won the same one 3 times and final tabled it like 12 other times on microgaming, Finished 1st in pokerstars sng leaderboard 1 week, Was part of a poker t.v. show so ya know the basics;). Do I remember all of it or what the strategy is nowaday's? No HAHA.

Might be up for a small buy in casinomeister invasion of a mtt 1 weekend though. :)

I can vouch for Twitch having some good streamers. Streamers with winning games willing to discuss strategy and help their viewers improve. It's rarely super high end strategy, more like enough to beat the smaller stakes games. From their, you'd likely want to progress to hiring a coach or doing math heavy learning with some 3rd party software poker software/solver.

Just nearly won another ko sng, I was almost out at 1 point but did some crazy (good?) folds and got myself back into it, Was down 2-1 in chips going into heads up and was able to take the lead at 1 point. Just happy to get something and rewarded for some good play as again I was almost out early.:)
