. It needs 150 signatures before it can be seen by the general public and needs 25,000 by mid February to be responded to by the White House. I read a lot of complaints on here about this issue so I decided to do something and this was all I could figure to do. It probably will not force the hand of our government but it will let them know that we would like this issue addressed. Please sign it and distribute the URLs to anybody you can think of. Well, I gave it two days and no takers. I'm not really surprised because you have to register an account with the White House to reply and I'm guessing people don't want to be put on any kind of 'hit' list from the Federales. I do hope my fellow Americans are trying to do something, like maybe writing your representatives in congress or looking at prospective candidates. It doesn't matter where you live in the US, if you support online gambling let Chris Christie Know!

I also see a sub. of Poker Stars is trying to purchase a land based casino in NJ as we speak, hope that's a good sign.

You're a bit late to the game bigjohn LOL. We've been writing, phoning, emailing, bitching, whining, pleading, and griping for years... for all the damn good it does.

I (and many, many others here) are probably on every darn watch list the good ol' DOJ has by now. The only result of writing congressmen and representatives has been generic form reply emails, and after that 'update' and 'news' and 'vote for me' emails every week.

But I do concur... it's not time to stop. I've been a bit lax the past year or so.... it's time for more emails and letters... Let's go people!!

I really mean that. I look at it like this, I'm 48 years old and I think in this country we should have the best of everything available to us. That includes entertainment technology. Other than a very few gems, like 3D and..., well one gem, most of our choices kinda suck. I remember playing MG casinos and Intercasino and would sure like another shot at them, now that I have matured lol, before I drop off the planet. I don't feel like this is enough to make me move to another country but it's close.

I just checked and I got 2 signatures now, not spectacular but I'll take it!

It's sad (and infuriating) that what our dear old gov did - in it's all seeing 'good intentions' to protect USA players from money launderers and gun runners and drug trafficking and the white slave trade - was throw us to the wolves.

We can't play at the vast majority of legitimate, good software and casinos (as they pulled out) but are left with only a very, very few places where we can count on getting paid (and that might even take weeks). They'll (illegally, IMHO) tack on an unrelated insignificant law - like the UIGEA - to an important must-pass port security bill, but are afraid of their own shadow when it comes to regulating online gambling because some people don't want it. Bah! They're idiots.

In Mass. we have the highest percentage of people who gamble in lotteries, numbers game/mass cash/megabucks/scratch offs/etc... (at least we did at one point, not sure about now) Can you imagine how much our state makes?

Now imagine how much ALL the states would make if online gambling was legal.

It makes absolutely NO SENSE!!!

I totally agree. It doesn't make the least bit of sense.

It's just like the state where I live. You see, gambling is 'bad', and they don't want the preachers and such stirring up a fight. (Nevermind the solid fact that if a person doesn't want to gamble no one is going to force them. ) So, our state gov had rather see all the gamblers from our state pop over the state line (to Ga) and buy lottery tickets, and throw a bag in a car and pop over the state line on the other side (to Miss) and leave our money in the casinos there.

Not only do the politicians fear backlash from holier than thou constituents, they're LAZY. Regulating online gambling... or even B&M casinos... means they would actually have to do some work and come up with guidelines, laws, etc. rather than sit fat, dumb, and happy in their cushy leather office chairs twidding their thumbs.

Something I don't understand, is this: our state gov always whines that B&M casinos would mean more law enforcement, more money spent on infrastructure (sewer/water/electric, for instance) etc.... well.... by golly.... don't know about every city and county in the state, but I do know the majority of them could well do with NEW JOBS here. Jeezzzzz.....

The reason why our state doesn't have a land based casino yet is people always say it will bring more crime. That is the ONLY reason why we don't have one yet. People vote against it, JUST for that reason. No one talks about the thousands of jobs it would bring.

If they believe this is in fact true, then that would be a good reason to regulate online gaming no?

Seeing how Washington is all about money these days my thinking went kinda like this: If this petition got 150 or more signatures it would go public and then if it could garner 25,000 it would have to be, by their own words, acknowledged publicly by the White House (they just acknowledged one to build a death star). Then, hopefully, someone would notice and figure out some way to make money from us as a lobbying group. I believe there are already groups like this based in other countries that lobby here, but this would be ours. They could then figure out the proper way to lobby (read bribe) our legislators. A bit of a stretch and a lot of ifs, but possible. They have to realize that legalizing and regulating on-line gaming is, eventually, inevitable. I also believe, given the opportunity and in exchange for US approval, off shore Casinos would have no problem reporting large wins to our government for tax purposes just like land based casinos do now. Anyway, thanks everyone for your opinions and if anybody has any other ideas it would be good to hear them here in our own little "Land of the Free" forum (thanks Bryan).

I think some may be afraid if they sign it the IRS will try and track them down, it could be considered a huge risk for some people. me i tried to log in tonight to sign it but the system was down.
