Player Fraud

Ok, I see a lot of casinos delaying payments etc due to Player Fraud but exactly what is it and how can it be accomplished if the games are fair?

I've seen a couple versions of Player Fraud pop up on the boards:

#1. They cite users that open multiple accounts for free chips till they win on one to be fraud, that is totally understandable and I totally get that.

#2. I've seen reports of player 'networks' (a bunch of people trying to hit a progressive and splitting the winnings) being shut down. Not sure how that is fraud exactly, but I agree it certainly tips the scales away from your average players favor when this occurs.

#3. (this is the most troubling one) The play logs need to be sent to the software company etc to rule out fraud, I don't understand how a player can perpetrate a fraud on software that is 'supposed' to be 100% legit and fair? Maybe I am too stupid to have figured that one out. If they are exploiting a software glitch, shouldn't the casino be able to figure that out during the tampering and put a stop to it before the player even gets close to the withdrawal button?

Anyways, I'm not finger pointing by any means, I've see this across all platforms and casinos, though it certainly happens more on some than others.

Just curious really, if the answers can't be discussed in a forum anyone that knows is welcome to PM me.

I doesn't necessary have to be free chips it can be match bonuses as well. A lot of casinos have very generous welcome bonuses. An experienced player can win a lot with 300% cashable bonuses, especially when they know that they can use it again with another account.

The bonus abuse by many players have made casinos to write rediculous T&C and you can't bet to high on low risk games etc.

We now and then see glitches in the casinos favour, the latest one is the Microgaming Pai Gow which now is under investigation.

If players find glitches in players favour you can be sure of that not everyone will report this. :D

Many players will use this and I understand if casinos send reports when something is suspicious.

To add:

#4 Money laundering in different ways.

Players have funds on a "fake" account and needs to get this to a legit account.

Poker chip dumping is one. Or to deposit with one method(the fake one) and make a withdrawal to a legit account.

Do you have any links? I don't see it as any different from people buying lottery tickets and splitting any winnings. How could a casino know winnings would be split? And why would they care? A jackpot is a jackpot. There is no guarantee a group would hit it anyway.

I believe something like this happened at Intercasino (I think it was them) years ago. There was a several hour window where a player could just not lose, don't recall the game. Intercasino acknowledged the glitch BUT paid all those that were playing. As I recall it was very early AM. I was not involved in playing, just read about it.

Looks like someone didn't get enough lovin' as a child

The ironic thing is this guy has a history of bitching and moaning when he loses. He's been booted from numerous casinos for player fraud in the past, (multiple accounts, etc) and has even admitted to a gambling problem and has quit this forum years ago....but he keeps coming back.

If he hates me and his fellow players so much, why does he keep returning?

Those who open multiple accounts to just redeem free chips are most likely people with severe addiction rather than "true" cheaters.

The "real" ones are those who have multiple accounts to claim deposit bonuses with a positive EV. If you face an EV of lets say 500, multiple it by 10 and you have an EV of 5000. If done "professionaly" you have a very low risk of getting caught. So the reward is bigger than the risk. This is not to be confused with advantage play. Edit: the 10 accounts was just to give an easy example, 3-4 seems more realistic for the majority.

This has increased hugely last years. The reasons are somewhat obvious if you have followed online gambling more than a few years so wont go in depth with that.

The point number 4# that maphesto mentioned is more of a problem to bookies and pokerrooms. For example at Ongame they only checked CC purchases over 250$, so the chipdumping at NL 100 and 200 was quite common and they had a very lax attitude towards it. I just assume they have changed their policy on that now.
