This may seem like a dumb question to some but it has been nagg'in at me since the announcment of they have become a CM casino. How is it that "Playboy" ...a USA company can launch it's own Casino with the USA ban? Is it an offshore that has "leased" the name? How does that work? I know it isnt taking bets from USA members..this maybe why they can do this, but heck..isnt that kind of like, wrong? Not allow banks to process USA funding to Online Casinos but allow a USA company to profit from the very "evil" the bann is supposed to be fighting? How two faced is that? Insight would be appreciated to ole thick headed me....

I don't really understand it either... But it's the same with Wagerworks online casinos having IGT (or whatever brand) slots (Cleopatra, Monopoly, etc. like we see in US casinos) but we can't play 'em online.

None (or very few) of the lines that have been drawn regarding USA players and online gambling have ever made any sense.

I am particularly disappointed. It's the only casino I'm aware of that let's you stream girly movies while you're playing.

Playboy is taking the first step for an American Company to bring a first time casino online.

Playboy is not a beginner when it comes to running land based casinos, but they need some time to get all the bugs worked out of their online systems before they go live in the USA.

LOL... Of course it is... Do they care? Not on your life... They are going to be bringing in truckloads of cash... And as far as they are concerned that is all that matters...

And a very important point... It maybe ethically and morally wrong to some folks, but it is NOT illegal.

I think you said it lotso, I was thinking ethics...but I guess when you get right down to it, it is legal and therefore, can't fault them. I am one that likes to watch the ditsie but lovable girls on the show "the girls next door" so I was aware of the casino in LasVegas (I remember they used to have them here and there but shut them down when they were restructuring) I imagine it only makes good business sense to go online. Maybe they will be an example that US lawmakers can keep an eye on, maybe use to somehow to figure out how to regulate online and then open it back up. Hmmmm just speculation on my part..and wishful thinking! lololol

Playboy licence the "brand" for various activities around the world. It was initially licenced to Ladbrokes, then to Partnerlogic for the casino side. They are very strict on branding and everything like usage of graphics etc has to go through Playboy for authorisation. Very similar to what they do with Marvel. Both companies are notoriously strict on how their image is used.

Chatting to a "bunny" last night, she was telling me that even the girls who wear the bunny costume at PR events have to apply for "accreditation" before they can be hired out.

Playboy branding can be licenced in any territory. The fact that Partnerlogic/Cryptologic don't take US was probably a key feature of the deal as Playboy would not want to flout US law, being centralised in the US. As an aside, that is also a key reason why Jackpot Joy don't target the USA. They licenced "Deal Or No Deal" from Endemol just prior to launching to US players, but Endemol turned round and forbid the game to be played by US players for money, so thay had to revamp their whole business plan.
