Perspectives Weekly Webcast 09/05/08

Hello APCW and welcome back to the forum...................just listened to the webcast and I have a question about Gambling Wages. You sorta started to link GW with Warren Cloud, but didn't really cement them together.........and I went back and listened to that part again and......nope, it still sounds vague. Now you are a stand up guy as far as I've seen, so could you please give the issue a final yea or nay? FWIW, I am a player, not an affiliate, so I can't zoom over to APCW and take up your GW challenge. :)

I also watched the video.......and I have a comment in regards to your challenge.
If I understand the challenge correctly you are offering to take one player and one webmaster to the Gambling Wages location/office, to iron out whatever issue(s) they may have.
Pardon me......but two people's issues fixed out of thousands of unresolved issues is not impressive in the least. Oh and do you really think that just because no one has taken you up on the offer so far is indicative that everything is hunky dory and no one cares? This group screwed players for years.......fixing two people's issues does not erase the history. That gesture would mean absolutely nothing IMO.

Flying two people to Costa Rica and showing them over a sanitised backend would not be difficult or expensive to do, and throwing in some time with a few well rehearsed managers over some entertainment would probably be involved too. It's an old damage control tactic that is unlikely to be taken seriously - it was most recently tried by UltimateBet when they flew Nat Arem down there.

Virtual would be better served by proving by performance going forward that it has really had a change of heart and gives players a fair deal - it will take longer, but that is the most effective solution to its reputation problems imo.

But if it really came to selecting a player representative and a webmaster, I would think that the most credibility would be achieved by hosting cynical but knowledgeable hardasses like VWM and Lots0 (and that's a compliment, not an insult, guys LOL!!!) for the job.

So GW is offering to send one player and one webmaster to Costa Rica to meet with GW management and iron out their personal issues.

Wow. I'm underwhelmed.

Hundreds of people are shafted by this clip joint(s), and they're going to wine and dine and shmooze two people into becoming spokesmodels for their "new leaf". If both of these sad sacks are male, betcha money part of this big old reconciliation will include a trip to an exclusive "gentlemen's club". Nothing like a lapful of tiny livestock wrangler to take the sting out of theft and corruption.

Jtodd wonders why no one will take up the offer...two reasons. One, the offer is a very silly and transparent drop in the bucket. Two, we've been down this road before, and it's always been a dead end.

Gambling Wages...stop the cutesy crap. You have the records of the people who are owed legitimately....now PAY THE PEOPLE.

Thanks Jetset, I do take your comment as a complement. :D

However, I have never been involved with Gambling Wages in any way shape or form and I would like to keep it that way.

My only comment about GW and the APCW making this public attempt to "clean up" Gambling Wages image...

A bad reputation is a very hard thing to lose.
I think the Owners/Investors in GW would have been better served by paying their debts and then dumping the GW brand and starting over with a new brand.

It also appears that the APCW is taking an unusual interest in clearing Gambling Wages name.
I know J. Todd has stated the APCW is not getting paid extra for this interest and I have no reason to doubt his word. However, to the casual observer, it may appear that the APCW is more than just an impartial observer...

My .02 cents.

We are not only working to resolve issues for only two people. If ANYONE has a issue with GW player or webmaster, we want to help. GW is wanting to work on issues, and we want to get players their money. Go to www.apcwinteractive.org and all issues will be addressed. We have already recovered money for players and we will continue to work with GW as long as they are working to make things right. This is no excuse for the past. We are just trying to help, now.

I respect that and thank you. What I would like to know is how two people could possibly respresent the majority. It would take a fact finding mission that could very well be a bit involved and time consuming on the part of the two chosen people. Two well meaning folks (affiliate/player) could not possibly be expected to represent the numerous issues effectively. They would surely 'miss something' and the burden would be somewhat cumbersome for them don't you think?

The only way GW will put the past behind them and go forward is to just do the right thing henceforth. Simple really. They have been around a long time. I'm rooting for them. With such a history, there really is no magical remedy, simply time will tell.

All the best,

Mojo

OK, so you are kidding, right? So if they say sorry about that to the people they owe, and promise not to do it again, then it's business as usual?:what: Oh boy.....it's fiesta time in Costa Rica:rolleyes:

Sorry suzecat, I don't know what you mean? I didn't say a sorry would do. I said time would tell and doing the 'right thing' would help on the road back. Sometimes my words don't come accross well. Did I not articulate?

"do the right thing henceforth" suggests you forgive everything that happened in the past. Don't want to put words in your mouth.............so if you are including paying all the people they swindled out of legitimate wins in "do the right thing" then that's another thing entirely.

By saying 'do the right thing henceforth' I mean that is the ONLY thing that is going to put this program back on track. Including paying past player/affiliate issues instead of paying for flights and hotel rooms. It is going to take GW years to get past the previous issues.

Next time I'll keep my thoughts to myself. Geesh.

It is going to take GW years to get past the previous issues.

You said that perfectly and I'd like to add.......you are so right when you said it should take them years to make amends. Maybe after 5 years probation and a proven track record of behaving well.........maybe then :D JMO
In the meantime.........I'm sure they have enough people still promoting them who don't give a ding dong and there are always the newbies who don't know of the history and some of them wouldn't care anyway because of the $$$$.

Question for you JTodd

I looked at your website and I could not find the information that I was looking for.
How does a group attain the gold member status on your page? Is the level that certain programs are at tied in with what fees are paid or is it a matter of their standing?

The two people by no means represents the majority. We are going to relate the numerous issues directly with GW. Right now GW is willing to work with us and I want to use this opportunity to get people their money and not argue. Again if anyone has an issue that you would like for us to address with GW go to

Thank you for the reply. I am still curious as to what two kind souls would do in CR and what is expected of them.

In light of Rob's link above, simply mind boggling, For a player to pay $500 to get their winnings paid is a complete horror story. There is no way there will be no 'arguing'. Like I posted above, it will take years and not a trip to CR to correct the damage.
What are your thoughts on this APCW? The OP is a credible player and I personally believe her.

I want to say it was a well meaning effort on the part of APCW. I would really like to hear a response on this.

Best Regards,
Mojo

I am just siting back and watching to see what happens, I know there is a nasty past with GW and I don't promote or recommend them as of right now to my players. I am not saying they cannot turn things around but it will be a very long hard battle to win in light of their past problems.

Sorry if I am a bit "off topic" here, but I am really curious. I joined The APCW to "Join the Fight!", but now I find myself fighting spam from them. What's up with that, J. Todd?

Jod, I'd do exactly as they say...............Join the Fight! Use APWC to report APWC's spam you have received from APWC.............IF YOU GET the normal runaround re "you agreed to receive promotional emails when you subscribed," then I would close the account at APWC and tell them no thanks! Sorry J Todd, but this whole scenario smacks of using this forum to further your cause and that sucks!

@jod - I'm trying to understand how this is defined as spam. How was this received? Where you emailed without opting in to receive ads or newsletters? I'm just trying to have this clarified.

Bryan,

Forgive me, I misspoke I guess. I signed up with APCW when I first found out about them, my intent was to keep abreast of the USA situation, I have done my part to fight this problem with the USA and on line gambling. I have never received anything from them other than updates and the link to the J. Todd video updates. I was quite taken aback to get this e-mail from them, the first I have ever received in my inbox like this. It is what I consider unsolicited spam.

As far as I know, I did not and certainly would not ask for this kind of thing from the APCW. I guess I need to end my membership there if this is the kind of thing they will be sending me. I am interested in solving the on line casino problem in the USA, not playing Bingo or anything else through The APCW link.

I find it hard to understand why I should be receiving this, just like I get spam from others promoting casinos. It is not what I understood them to be all about.

Sorry for the problem, Bryan.

I wouldn't consider this spam. Spam is an issue about consent, not content. If you had signed up at APWC and given your consent on receiving emails, then that's what you did.

Even at Casinomeister, we have a weekly newsletter and yes sometimes we send out special promotions. We have to pay the bills.

If you want a service, you're either going to have to pay for it directly, or patronize its sponsors. Not much is free - and when it is, you'll usually get what you pay for. J.Todd needs to pay the bills just like we do. :D
