Overbearing Manager

One of the reasons I went to work for myself is because I was tired of there always being that one schmuck who's a step above you on the corporate ladder looking down on you like they're better.

To me, I don't care if you're the CEO or the janitor, everyone in a company has an important function to perform, and should be working together for the good of the organization.

But all too often you get someone in a position of power who feels their crap doesn't stink, and that they're better than everyone else. I just didn't mesh well with people like that, got tired of the middle management rat race and quit to play poker and now I've started my own business as well.

To me on this I have to say.
I am a Fun loving & kind Boss & very easy to get along.
But....................In the Health field if your a lazy &^$# I will do what I have to do to make it better.
Because we are talking lives here.
This is no ^%*bag job.& things need to be run right.

They don't bother me to much but this one particular person she just rattles on. And I have to hear them go back and forth all day long. They are really nasty towards the boss calling them names and what not. Its a real riot out there I mean it just plain funny.

Now I'm confused. At first you were complaining about an overbearing boss. Now you seem to be upset over a co-worker that complains about the boss?

No I am not upset about the co-worker but two wrongs don't make it right. I have talked to the individual that what ever they do they can't react in that fashion makes it look bad on them. When this individual (boss) nitpicks and starts complaining on how I write my e-mails I have a tendency of wigging out. But I don't any more, I answer their question as polite as I can. This individual just goes bananas and starts cursing and carrying on. See we work with traders and portfolio managers so its alot of pressure on us. And for anyone to just walk out and try to find another job is not going to happen, because guess what there are no jobs out there because of the economy.

What I am basically writing is sometimes I want to run away but if I do so I won't receive unemployment second all the benefits and everything the corporation has given me will be gone. And how long will it take for me to find another job with the same skill set. I mean I go into business for myself but what kind of business. I haven't even thought long-term yet I am still trying to struggle with the present.

I understand what you're saying, it isn't easy to give up something stable and take the risks.

I didn't quit my job to play poker right away, first I went semi-pro and supplemented my income, and tracked my results. Once I was consistantly making more with poker than I was at my job, it made sense to go pro (because I was essentially losing money when I went to work for someone else)

Of course, two months after I did this, the UIGEA was pushed through, and I wasn't able to play on Party Poker anymore, which was my bread n' butter. That sucked, but I adapted.

Now I'm in the process of starting a business, despite the economy. This is actually a good time to strike, while others are scaling back their operations, it makes it easier for you to move in and compete.

That being said, I don't know what your experience is in the gambling world, or your aspirations are for the long-term. So I can't really tell you what business to start.

I guess your right when the opportunity presents itself believe me I am out of there on the first thing smoking..

Midget exotic dancing, it's going to be huge! (ahahahahah, get it, "huge"? That's a pun! um......cause they're short......get it? If I have to explain it, we lose the humor people!)

My personaly experience in this kind of thing is to seriously not get involved AT ALL, say your hello's and goodbyes and of course be nice to them when it's work related but DO NOT get involved in office politics, the people that whinge and complain and try to make it hard on others ALWAYS bring then selves undone in the end and end up losing friends and jobs and dont mind bringning you down with them, the key is to hold your breathe and let it all go over your head. Seriously just do what yr paid to do and that's it.

I hate hate hate the fact that in jobs that sometimes you get promoted becasue of who you know and not what you know. Is happening here at the moment and I feel if I let it slide Karma will be good to me nd Ill get what im deserved in time.
