Omni Casino review

So, I finally decided to try a Playtech casino, basically because I wanted to give the Marvel slots a go. I miss them from back in the day. Disappointingly, they didn't have Silver Surfer, which used to be my favourite, but never mind.

I went with Omni after checking it out on CM (of course!) and scoping out the welcome package. I started off with the free chip, then mainly took no bonuses for a few deposits, lost, and then took one with a bit of a play through on it (25x). So, some thoughts...

GAMES

The Marvel slots are both more and less than I hoped for. Graphically they look the business, and there are some genuinely innovative features. I like the Heroes and Villains free spins in X-Men, I like the different character features in Fantastic Four, and I LOVE the respins in Hulk. When you get the one mega respin where reels 2,3 and 4 are wild it's super-exciting, because you know you're gonna get something decent. Unsurprisingly, I didn't get anywhere near the progressive. Would be interesting to know what bet sizes people have gotten it on though.

The big disappointment with the Marvel slots for me was the sound effects and the music, all of which feel a bit cheap and light in some way. When I play something like X-Men, I want a soundtrack or something. I need a bit more...grit. Or at least something I can hum on the tube. A minor gripe anyway.

The other slots are good fun and again, graphically impressive. I enjoyed Banana Monkey, Archer and King Kong. Archer especially. Some really innovative features here. I only really play slots so can't comment on the other games.

One other minor gripe is that when I first load up the casino and open a game for the first ten minutes or so the reels are very stuttery. Not sure how or why this happens but it's a regular thing. Would always stop after ten mins or so though so no biggie.

SUPPORT

There are pluses and minuses here. When I first joined, the live chat support was still available, but it's since been taken offline while they "upgrade to a new system" apparently. When I used the Live Chat, it was very good. I didn't have to wait long and I got the same person both times. Nikki was very friendly, and gave me a retrospective bonus after I forgot to claim one that I had wanted.

After that I had to call them to check on my wagering requirement for a bonus I took later on. That was annoying. Call up, answer a few security questions, ask to check your WR, "We'll send you an email". Ok, fair enough. Not the worst process in the world but hardly the easiest. This is why I rarely take bonuses apart from free chips. Bottom line, it's very annoying to be unable to see how much WR you have left.

One more positive thing on deposits: when I deposited I got a pop-up with "You have been awarded xxxx bonus" and then an option to accept or decline. I like that feature, though it would be improved if there was a link to the TCs right there in the pop-up box.

Omni is one of those casinos that offer some kind of bonus (or multiple ones) every single day. One of those Mega Monday, Sweaty Tuesday, 150% on the your first deposit and up to 176% on your next and blah blah blah...Overall, my sense is that Omni use bonuses as do many other online casinos - not to reward players for their loyalty, but to lock their money in for as long as they can in the hope that they'll lose it. I know that sounds harsh - I'm not having a go here and this IS a rep friendly thread - that's good business sense and a casino is a business. It's just an observation. Another way to look at it is "extended playtime", and that's fair too. As with all such things, if you scrutinize the terms really carefully, you should be ok. If you don't...:(

There was one thing that I couldn't get a straight answer from support on. I asked about five different ways and tried to be as clear as I could. Here's the question: "If I TRY to make a withdrawal before my WR is met, will I be prevented from doing so by the system? Or will the system let me do this, and then the funds get returned to my account manually?" and of course my follow up question: "If I ACCIDENTALLY try to withdraw BEFORE the WR is met, will my winnings be void?". I was asking because obviously, this would be a way around not knowing what my remaining WR was without having to contact them each time. Anyway, I couldn't get a clear answer.

As an aside and on the subject of bonuses in general, this is why I think Netent excel in this area. Sure, their bonuses are small but whenever I receive one from them it's just that - a BONUS. Free money. I can (and have occasionally) withdraw it immediately without wagering a penny. There are no terms attached whatsoever. Now that's a genuine bonus. ;)

DEPOSIT and WITHDRAWAL

Guess what? it's EASY to deposit! There are about a million methods for doing so! They even accept bartered goods as currency. Ok, maybe not but you get the point. Withdrawal? Haven't done so yet. Waiting to hear whether I've made the play through on that bonus and then I'll get it sent back to neteller and post an update.

LOBBY/INTERFACE

Hmmm. A bit odd actually. Games, and the cashier open in an entirely new window. Not ideal, and necessitates a bit of moving things around to get them "comfortable" on the screen so to speak. A bit clunky I think. Also, not sure how the "favourites" work; I starred a game and it disappeared. I'm probably being dense on that front though.

OVERALL

Yeeeeeaaaaaaahhhhhh, it's ok. Some nice games. Kong, Marvel etc. Had some luck as well finally but I never take that into account with a new casino. Overall I'd give it a seven. A solid seven. The key questions for me are:

1) When will live chat be back?
2) When will they introduce an easy way to check your WR?
3) When will I, will I be famoussssss! (sorry, terrible Bros joke there).

Thanks for reading, and God Bless if you got this far. Here are some screenshots for ya:

Nice review :)

You should check out Iron Man 2 - along with Fantastic 4 that's my favourite Marvel slot. The Silver Surfer slot was developed by Cryptologic who used to have a sole licence to produce Marvel games, then Playtech got one too (to Crypto's consternation) hence the confusion. Both Crypto and Playtech have good and bad ones.

Not a fan of X-Men, Blade or Elektra myself but agree on the Hulk Super Respin comment :) I've had 3 progressives on the Playtech Marvel games (3 small one slightly bigger).

The stuttering happens on both my PC's (laptop and iMac) at all Playtech casinos now, not just Omni, every time you play. Runs for about 10 minutes normally and is very annoying.

Cheers

Simmo!

I also liked playing the Marvel slots and also the older ones at Omni. The payout was quite good, maybe the best among Playtechs. Unfortunately the support was kind of slow for me, and confusing, that I did not like. That's why I rarely play there. But apart from that I also had good experience there.

Hi DJ,

Firstly, thank you very much for picking Omni Casino as your preferred Playtech powered casino. I would also like to thank you for taking the time to write about your experience.

Just wanted to let you know I’m currently looking into each point made, including the ‘ Game Stuttering’ which both you and Simmo commented on.

I will be posting a more detailed response which your review deserves over the coming days. I just wanted to respond briefly so your aware I’m looking into each point you’ve made.

Thanks for the feedback DJ.:)

Regards,

Elliott.

P.s Great Screenshots! Pleased you enjoyed our Marvel themed slots.

update on withdrawal...

Thanks Elliot, I appreciate the response. Would be good if you can fix the stuttering especially.

Just an update for you; my withdrawal requests from 1st of August have still not been paid. I just spoke to Alma on support who said she would contact your finance department to expedite the process but she couldn't give me a concrete time frame for when they would be paid. This is a bit unfortunate, as it says on your website:

Withrawals are processed within 24 hours to 3 banking days.

I just received this follow up email from Alma too:

Thank you for choosing Omni Casino. This is Alma from the Support Team.

We already made a follow up to the relevant department regarding your
withdrawal requests. Rest assured that you will be notified once these have
been processed.

In the meantime, we ask for your patience.

Any idea what the delay is? I sent my documents in for pre-approval waaaaay before I requested a withdrawal so it can't be that.

Any light you can shed on this would be much appreciated. Thanks mate.

Update! Just received my funds.

Credit where credit's due. After my last post I received a PM from Elliot, the Omni rep, asking for my username so he could sort this.

He did so - FAST.

The funds have just hit my neteller. I am very grateful for the help and impressed by the speed with which this was resolved.

Many thanks Elliot.

Hi DJ,

Apologies for the delay. On occasion we do get a higher than normal volume of withdrawal requests which our internal team work through as efficiently as possible.

Adanna, who looks after our casino members took care of this for you today. I’ll make sure she is aware you’ve gotten your winnings.

We hope you enjoyed playing at Omni Casino and we’ll look forward to hopefully seeing you again in the future.

Warm Regards,

Elliott.

I've been playing there a bit too and so far I'm pretty happy. I haven't made a WD yet, but doesn't Omni have that Playtech 4 day reverse WD period?

Nope - 24hrs :)
Does 24 hours apply for all players or only for players with a certain VIP-level? Because I always needed to wait 4 days for every withdrawal at Omni Casino. I recently began to play at Omni Casino these are my withdrawals so far:
  • Withdrawal requested: 18th July 2011 - Money received: 22th July 2011
  • Withdrawal requested: 23th July 2011 - Money received: 27th July 2011
  • Withdrawal requested: 28th July 2011 - Money received: 01th August 2011

I had sent a mail to Omni support awhile back but thought maybe I hadn't remembered it right - but I just realized that I had saved the mail, he said:

This is James from Omni Casino Support Team.

We would like to inform you that you can withdraw using your UsemyBank or
Moneybookers account for as long as you used it for deposit first.

With regard to your withdrawal concerns, it is standard to all withdrawals to
undergo the 4 day pending period. Players can cash-out $10,000 USD (or the
equivalent amount in EURO or GBP currency) per month.

We are hoping you will find these information useful.

Have a nice day!

So ummm.....???

There has been some confusion over this in the recent past. Here's a thread that gives more info:

https://www.casinomeister.com/forums/threads/omni-cashout-4days-not-24hr.43907/
In that thread the Omni Casino Rep said this:
OC Elliott said:
The reality is that Omni Casino does process within 24-48 hours in 95% of our secured member withdrawals.
I doubt that that this is the truth, unless I was very unlucky with the result that all of my 3 withdrawals did fall into the 5%.

Hi Guys,

Sorry I didn’t see this earlier. Is there a way to get an e-mail notification if someone posts in a thread your attached too? If so, I’d be grateful if someone could point out how I can apply this.

It’s Friday evening Ladies and Gentleman so unfortunately I will need to revisit this on Monday when I can look into this properly.

In the meantime, I want to thank you for posting this information and wish you all a good weekend.

Regards,

Elliott.

At the very top of the thread, there's a link called "Thread Tools", click that and a little submenu will pop open, select "Subscribe to Thread."

Hi DJ,

Bet sizes on Marvel Progressives do not mean all that much. As the progressive is random, it can be triggered at the end of any spin with at least a .01 total bet. While Omni has been told by the game designers that the higher you play, the slightly better chance you have on getting the random bonus to trigger. There is no magic bet size. Our experience with are hundreds of Marvel progressive winners here at Omni is that it does not matter all that much. Bet sizes and wins are random. In fact, we had one player DC22 go on a major rush winnings over £35,000 (final total) in several Marvel progressives. Her average bet was well below a £1 a spin. You can read about DC22 in our Omni Times archives on our website.

We will be happy to pass that along; maybe we can get a 2.0 version of the game :)

Archer is a FUN game. It’s one of those games that will keep you at the edge of your seat. Kong is very exciting and one of the most played games at Omni. Fantastic Four is a huge favorite too.

Ours too! And, yes it really is not that big of an issue. Here's what happens. As a new member, your system will download the main install pack. As you begin to play, all of the other 165+ games begin to download in the background. While very easy, the downloading in the background is eating up bandwidth on your connection and hence the sometimes choppy play during your first few minutes. It does not happen with most players, but some have mentioned this from time to time. Even with the very best connections! Just let all the games fully settle in and your game play should be seamless.

We have 24/7 support via phone and e-mail. We also have live chat available both within the casino and on our website. The general times of operation for live chat services run Monday-Friday from 13:00GMT until about 23:00 GMT. We do offer weekend live chat services as well.

Always know that Omni Casino is very up front about our bonuses and terms thereof. We post all of our promotions and terms for each under “promotions” on our website. Also, we announce all of our bonuses within the Omni Times newsletter each week. All members that opt for Omni news and mail receive a copy each Friday. Moreover, we also post a pop-up upon login if there is a promotion at that time with a terms link. With that being said, if you do not see a pop up for any reason and are offered a bonus, always know that you may review the promotions and terms on our website. If ever unsure, stop, call us 24/7 and we will explain before you begin playing. You may of course decline a bonus offer before play. We agree with you, it would be very nice to have the terms link when you deposit as well.

Omni casino strives to provide our players with want they ask for and we do this with as many creative and fun promotions. The biggest request is deposit bonuses. Yes, sometimes we give out a little more than we should from time to time, but we listen to our members and this is what they want. Our Super Value Tuesday is a huge favorite amongst our members and was created from a member suggestion. Another hugely popular promotion is the Hot Seat. The Hot Seat has proved that popular that we’ve been running this for over a year.

To be very clear. When playing under a bonus at Omni Casino (and most casinos), you must meet your wagering requirements 100% in full before cashing out. If you request a cash out and have not meet the wagering requirement to that point, the system will inform you of your available cashable balance and warn you that if you proceed you will void all of your winnings (and bonus). Overall, we have little confusion or complaints in this area with our members. It would be very nice to have the ability to see what you need to wager and what's left before cashing out.

We will not speak of other casinos and how they operate bonuses. But, here at Omni Casino whenever you receive a loyalty "comp" direct from our staff members, it is free and clear of any requirements (unless stated otherwise). Again, we do inform our members when receiving a bonus of any kind what the terms are.

Hi All,

Regarding the withdrawal comments. We do process withdrawals 1-3 business banking days. The average usually runs 24-48. Of course, should you be a new player or security is waiting on documentation, there will be a delay of course (until all is settled). And, yes volume does come into the picture from time to time.

A while back (I think it was May) there was incorrect information coming out of customer service with older e-mail templates that were being issued. We felt that we had found all of the older templates and removed them(and of course spoke with the CS staff).

Chayton, when did you get that letter from customer service? (Please send me a private message so I can have this reviewed if it was after May).

Allow us to be honest and very clear, we are not perfect, although we try. Should you ever have a delay into your 4th day, please contact us directly and ask for VIP SERVICES to review the matter. They will look into the matter and ensure that is solved as fast as possible. Contact 24/7 playershelpATomnicasinoDOTcom

I remember omni when they were cryptologic! They were a good casino then, and seem like they still are. Away to see if I can get a deposit bonus off live chat now hehehe

1) When will live chat be back?[/COLOR][/I] It's there.

It seems to be gone again... at least I couldn't see it whenever I checked within the last 24 hrs.

I just sent my ID in and requested a freeze until payment, let's see if that works.

Best regards

dingdingding

|EDIT| Funny enough, live chat has come online just now... so it is existing but I figure your times must be weird.

Just wanted to let everyone know my matter has been completely settled. Even before the Rep contacted me, which I still consider a great thing to have on the forum.

Thanks and best regards,
