It seems no guards are in place STILL for new members to spam the crap out of the site.
...Whether this is just pure stupidity or whether it should be called illness Braindamaged...
Perhaps enabling this for user registrations and new user posts might help thin things out a bit.
You do not have permission to view link Log in or register now.
As much use as a chocolate fireguard I'm afraid. I use it and was still getting 20+ spammers a day.
ONLY way to stop them completely is to manually verify each new member, something I had to do on my vbulletin forum, downside is if you don't let people post instantly you lose a high percentage of them
Geez, I hope I never get on the wrong side of you Illu mate lol

Anyone perhaps notice their location, time and again? Something for the mods to pick up on, it's obviously the same guy/ group of guys
Actually, we have a number of safeguards against spammers, bits, and other douchebags. Unfortunately, vBulletin is extremely poor and outdated when it comes to fighting this.
We have bot timers - if you are able to sign up within x amount of seconds, you are blocked. We get about 100-200 a day of these bot rejections.
All new accounts become moderated. You can't freely post until at least three of your first posts are reviewed by someone. This would be great, but there is a problem with one of the template changes which allow some of these through. I delete several on a daily basis before they get through. The problem is it's like whack-a-mole. But with the pending forum upgrade, I think we will have this nipped in the bud. We will be using the authenticator app for new sign-ups which seems to be the trend now.
