The latest Apple Event kicks off in just over two hours and as a result the Apple Store is now closed due to 'updates'.

Personally the new phone would have to be awesome for me to upgrade from my iPhone 13, which is still more than capable for my needs. It records video in 4K at 60fps and has more than enough storage. But yes, I will be watching every second of the event

I am 'All In' on the Apple Ecosystem here ( My office alone has a 2020 27' iMac, a 14' M2 Pro Macbook Pro, 2015 15' Macbook Pro and in my desk cupboard, my Headless AI Server I call HAL, which is an M3 Ultra Mac Studio ).

Whilst Samsung make cracking phones, I love iOS and for me, Android like how I am with MS Windows, I just can't get on with.

As soon as Apple nail down an approved and accurate blood glucose level in their watch, I will upgrade from my Series 9. Until then I am more than happy with it. It is brilliant when I am at the gym.

Whenever they improve the displays with respect to eye-sensitivity (e.g. pulse-width modulation, temporal dithering), I'll consider one. Samsung is even worse in that regard.

Yep, that's the one. It is hideous and very impractical. It will bomb and not sell well at all. Far too expensive as well. I mean 2 grand on a phone. Good grief!

Like the vision pro Apple might be 5-10 years ahead of the times for such high quality devices becoming more mainstream at a decent pricepoint. Most of the use cases seemed pointless for the new iPhone.

It still blows my mind you can buy a macbook, airpods, iphone and ipad for around the same money their highest end laptops used to cost.

100% - that's exactly what I did with my S8 - when it died got the S22 - when the 22 goes will just get another Samsung. I really like them

I have the S20 Ultra with the stylus from 4-5 years back, superb phone still great for my needs, cost over a grand but every year it still performs the average cost reduces. I know from experience @Webzcas is impressed with the images/camera on it lol

Yes, superior than my iPhone 13, certainly the magnification. But lets be honest, yes I could be called an 'Apple Fanboy', but it is known fact the cameras on the Samsung phones are superior. Just a shame they run Android software!

Right - with the assistance of Big Time Gaming I have pre-ordered a brand new Apple iPhone 18 Pro Max. I have fallen for the hype and now we will be 100% Apple iPhones in this house.

My hitherto brilliant Samsung S20 Ultra Pro and it's digital flip case are 6 years old so time to update. I'm going to factory reset it, as it's in mint condition with stylus etc. and still holds battery charge for 2 days and has always been in case and had screen protectors both on front and camera assembly on back, I'm going to box it up and eBay it. Best phone I ever had, hope Apple doesn't disappoint!

£1299 quid plus ordered a silicone case, screen protectors and proper Apple mag charger 20-30w which was another £46 combined, but will get £20 cashback via TCB's listing of Carphone Warehouse/Dixons. So £1325 in total.

This means at £4 I need a quick Bonanza 328x bet feature.

I’m tempted to get an 18 but my 13 pro max is still holding up well so it’s a want rather than a need.

On a remotely related subject, I was pretty dark when Apple announced earlier this year that the Apple Watch Ultra 1 would not get watchOS 27. The thought of my 2.5 year old device not being supported with new OS updates was a hard one to swallow.

Then last week I noticed that my watch had an update to 27 waiting, which completely confused me. After a while I decided to give it a go thinking I could very well brick my device. The update completed successfully. It was at this point I discovered I had an Ultra 2! I’m normally all over this stuff, and could tell you exactly what generation each of the other nine Apple devices I have in my household are.

I think my confusion stemmed from the fact I thought the Ultra 2 was released in black only. Anyway a nice surprise to find my watch is still “current”, at least for the next 12 months!

Sorting this tomorrow, boxing it up. It has a dot matrix and a digital display foldy case too, had camera lens and screen savers applied since I took it out the box. Will PM you when it's up.

OK, it came 2 weeks ahead of when they said it would be delivered, came yesterday.

Stress alleviated as Apple has a transfer system and Samsung a download app that seamlessly transfers your Android phone across to IOS, took about 20 minutes after failing twice because it didn't like my call history for some reason, kept jamming on that so didn't check that box to transfer and off it went and worked for all the rest of the phone and apps.

Battery seems to last ages, been setting it up and used about 5%!

Good heavy phone, large 6.9" screen, great camera etc. Put a silicon case and glass screensaver on it when getting it out the box.

Only aggro (not the phone) is having to re-log into all the app/financial accounts from the new phone. The face ID thing is great, won't do a thing without asking for a passcode unless my ugly boat is visible to it.

Gotta say, I reckon I'm on the way to MacBook and home PC...

Wow that is some review @dunover especially as the phone you have migrated from hardware wise is solid. I mean, you have shown me what the camera can do and it is very impressive.

I think with anything though, it is getting used to the operating system, that usually is the barrier to entry. One of the reasons I would never contemplate an Android handset. Even though Samsung make quality phones.

If you have used Windows your entire life like I had been then I think you might be pleasantly surprised.

I've been in the Apple eco system for a while now with iPhones, iPads, Apple Watches, and Apple TVs. But I vowed never to move to Mac. Then a couple of years ago my girlfriend's laptop was replaced with a MacBook Pro for work and after the initial learning curve, she really valued it (she's a software engineer).

I had a mini Windows PC in my lounge connected to my TV and it was getting very sluggish, thanks largely to where Windows is heading. So I decided to bite the bullet and get a Mac Mini. I quickly got used to it and decided to ditch my Dell XPS for a MacBook Air M5. I've never looked back. Being able just to close the laptop lid when I've finished, and then being able to open it back up later with no issues at all is so convenient. Window's sleep is a dog and never ever worked properly for me. It's also properly fast without the bloat that Windows bestows upon us.

As long as you have fairly decent technical skills, there is nothing Windows can do that MacOS can't (except for the shitty performance that Windows is great for)
