Hello, everyone!
As you know, I wasn’t very active poster here at CasinoMeister. Sometimes it’s because I’m just have nothing to say, because all necessary things were previously voiced, sometimes because of my bad English, therefore I was unable to say right things correctly. Sometimes I was just overloaded with my work and only from time to time visited this forum to read new threads/posts.
I think I won’t say anything new if I say that we have great community here at CasinoMeister. And it’s always pleasure for me to read this forum, communicate with other members, discussing problems and issues relating to online-casinos and online gambling. And I really hope that I wrote something which was useful for you.
What I’m going to tell you today is my own “Responsible Gambling” rules. Maybe it sounds too grandiloquently, but it helps me to win and keep my winnings, and not to give it back to casinos. I always follow these rules, and it works! At least it helps me not to lose more than I was ready to lose. And I truly hope it will help you maybe not to win, but at least keep your winnings or not to lose more. Well, let’s start.
1. Define how much you can spend on online-gambling. You know, that you cannot lose more than you have…well, you can, if you borrow some money from your friends, relatives, etc. But in this case you will have to repay them. So just sit down, calculate your weekly/monthly/yearly revenue and define how much you can spend on casinos without falling into financial difficulties (unable to pay bills, buy food, clothes, etc.). Write this sum down, and follow it! For example, I can spend 2000$ every month on online-casinos without any problems. If I’m going to play once a day, I just divide 2000$/30, so I can spend approx. 67$ a day. If I missed one day, I can play 2x67$ next day. If I’m going to play once a week, I can spend 500$/week, and so on.
2. Define your stop-loss cap. If you already defined how much you can spend on gambling, now it’s time to define your stop-loss cap. Actually, the sum you can spend every day or week – it’s you stop-loss cap. Do not deposit more than once (well, actually you can, but ONLY if you deposit in two different casinos, or deposit of the sum every time! In this case just split your money.). But sometimes you may lose your temper, because there were no bonus games, or no free spins, or you lost your money too quickly. And you deposit again, and sometimes again, and again, and again! And you lose again, and again and again! So follow this rule: if you lost – you lost! You were ready to lose it! Game over!
3. Define your stop-win cap. Wow! Congrats! You won something over your deposit! So now it’s time to cash out! Do it! And do it NOW! But if you too greedy, you can lose all your winnings + your original deposit! And it’s often happens. I agree, sometimes you may think that you won not enough to make a cash out, and it’s true, because I’m not telling you “If you won some – make cash out”, I’m just trying to say to you “If you won as much as you have planned – take money and run!” As for me, if I deposit 100$ - I will cash out, if I win 150$ or more. Maybe I will lose it all, bit if I win – I will save my deposit and winnings!
4. Find another hobby. Sometimes you may catch a down-streak. You deposit – you lose, you deposit – you lose. And it never ends. And if it happened – turn to another hobby. There is so many interesting things in the world! Travelling, sport, movies, music, etc, etc, etc… Don’t limit your curiosity!
5. Do not forget about your family and friends. If you are passionate gambler, you may forget about this very important part of your life, because all your thoughts are about gambling! Don’t do that! Spend as much time as you can with your wife/husband or girlfriend/boyfriend, parents, friends! Otherwise you may stay alone…
6. If you win – buy something valuable. O.K., you got some money from casino(s). What players usually do? Yes, they are almost always think “Wow, lucky me, let’s try another time, or another casino!” Don’t do that! If you won something – buy something! It’s a great idea! Especially if you are going to buy something for someone who is dear to you! You will see – it will be very appreciated!
7. “It’s just money”. If you lost your money - do not mourn for it! It’s just money! You were ready to lose and you lost it! See p.4 and p.5 if you don’t know what to do if you lost your money.

It was a long post, but finally I managed to finish it. Hope it will help you! Good luck with your play!

Great points my friend.
Always remember your Children for the future because we all know this World is changing each day & it's harder for them to save.
And we have to save some money so we can all go to SlotMonster's Wedding

Excellent Post Slotmonster!

I actually went over this with my brother lol. He knows I love this hobby but also knows I need a budget. Thats why my rolling is so low. This is what I do.

Rich is a roofer so my budget changes every week. For the most part, I keep my budget at around $300 a month in deposits. That is $10 a day at 3dice and if Rich has in extra hours, I put some in on RTG or MG. That is why I use to gamble at Inet, because you can deposit as little as $2 (I do $5-$10)

If I get to $80, I cash out $50 of it and have fun with remaining $30 by either staying at 3 dice or QTing it and use some of it at the RTG/MG. If I win more than $150-$200 I keep $40 or $50 of it and transfer some over. But Im pretty much a stickler that I must cashout $50 if I win $80 or more. Less, if I had no cashouts that week THere have been times where Ill deposit my $10 and be on a roll and not have to dep for 4 days, if that's the case, Ill use the money I didnt have to deposit to go out for dinner.

Now, If Im on a losing streak at the same time Rich doesnt have the extra hours, I put myself on a limit dep. Like right now lol. I can only dep $50 a week for the past 2 weeks. Thats going to be lifted today or tomorrow because of winning and extra income coming in this weekend. I have to do this because I know myself and will try to chase those losses. In that case, I do the free tournies and hope to win some to go to real, if not, I just wait for time to pass like TODAY!! yipeee..I can dep today. finally!:D

Slotmonster, you said it well. I do a good job on all these points except maybe #3. And even there, I do manage to cash out from time to time, it's just that my win expectations are high. But when I do cash out, it's usually big enough to do something with.

Well, for me #3 is the most difficult rule to follow :) Sometimes it's very hard to say yourself "Stop!" and make a cashout. I often imagine what I will buy for my relatives or for future Mrs. SlotMonster, and it usually helps :)
Glad for you that you at least "manage" to cashout from time to time

good tips, but the hard thing is to follow them.
Nowadays, if I lost alot, I should be the person being blamed of not casinos.
sadly but too true.

Excellent Words!

Especially the rule #5,

We are human for life, but not the slave of gaming.

Well, for me #3 is the most difficult rule to follow :) Sometimes it's very hard to say yourself "Stop!" and make a cashout.

Here's a tip.

1) Play at a casino where cashouts aren't reversible (harder to find one for Americans although you can get some that Flush on request quickly - for Brits and Europeans there is loads of choice).

2) When you hit a decent win, walk away from your PC for 10 minutes (Smoke, bevvy, make the bed, anything!) and think about what you could do with the money if you cashed out.

3) When you return, cashout a wedge of money leaving some to play with possibly.

I find the short break thinking about what you could do with the money works wonders.

Cheers

Simmo!

May I add that even if the withdrawals are reversible, you could make withdrawals of different amounts preferably 4 or 5 so even if you cant resist the temptation of reversing you might just reverse the one with the least amount and play until you reach the end of your pending withdrawal period. It's worked for me in the past.

Great post

Very well written. I am taking a mini vacation from playing. I know I needed it.
Now I have printed your post and it is hanging in clear view for me, so when I finish my get away from slots this will be a AWESOME reminder for me that it is to be fun and nothing but fun!

Great post slotsmonster and all excellent points.

One of the issues I have is after hitting a good win I generally increase my betsize which is fine because it gives you a chance to hit big but if I get on a losing streak I find it really difficult to put my bet size back down.
So I would say if you hit a decent win then increasing your bet size is ok but make sure you limit your self to a set amount of spins at this level.

I get just as much pleasure out of battling away with my last few $ and then hitting a win that will keep me afloat as hitting a win for a few hundred so cashing out along the way and leaving say 200Xbet to play with would make more sense, all notes to self

Thank you, Simmo! And I'm really glad that so many forum members found my post useful! There is no better pleasure for me!

No need - I play at casino, which pay instantly :)

2) When you hit a decent win, walk away from your PC for 10 minutes (Smoke, bevvy, make the bed, anything!) and think about what you could do with the money if you cashed out.
Exactly! I usually do the same :D

3) When you return, cashout a wedge of money leaving some to play with possibly.
I do the same, and I usually leave few $$$ on my acct to play, so-called "otkat". "Otkat" (in russian language) means that after decent win you make a cashout and leave some money to play. You make "otkat". :)

Use Simmo's advice :) and after good hit just stop playing for 10 minutes or so.

I always cash out and leave some to play with, except when I'm tired, then I lose track. However, whenever I do that the (MG) slots become an ugly beast.

Just a little "bump" to this thread ;)
I still follow these rules
Hope someone read it again and will be able to control oneself

Very well said. I have been learning as I go to do these things as well. When I first started playing online many years ago and before I ever knew what a forum was, I would play thinking I was going to hit that pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. My first good win was for $1,100, I couldn't believe how easy it was to aquire so much money with so little effort. Then reality starts to sink in that this was just a lucky day, a lucky session and it doesn't always happen just because I wish it to. Just as in the post by Wonderspirit, "Time to stop chasing the rainbow", this too begins to sink in. One begins to realize throwing deposit after deposit away because of the false feelings of you'll hit it big is seriously flawed thinking.
After coming to this site and studying what posters say and experience I have set down some loose rules for myself as well. Now instead of reversing constantly, I withdraw. Instead of redepositing, I quit and go back to my painting. Learning discipline is very difficult when the accessiblity of gaming at home is so easy, but with work, diligence and practice, I have found it is getting easier, plus with casino's tightening up they are helping to make it easier to just back away. I am now looking at wins entirely different, if I am going to play, then when I win I cash it out and it goes towards savings or something special.
I now have a bit saved back in my ewallet and I will pay our property tax with it this year. So my little $25-$35 investments are being put to good use rather than thinking wow, now I have made my $25 deposit into $135, now I can up the anty and really win big! Not! Learned that doesn't work as well as I thought it would, so it get's cashed out and saved for better use than just giving it away.
I am of the thinking now that if I am "blessed" with more than I started with then I need to be happy and satisfied with it and put the greedy thoughts out of my mind.
So through this learning process, greed dictates in the beginning and if a person can learn and grow from experience then greed has less of a hold and common sense starts to kick in. Now when I play, which I have a small budget for, I stick to that budget and think as you say of the family, our finances and how a win no matter how small will benefit me and mine rather than always having the casino's being the ones that benefit. Afterall, they will not put food on my table when we are hungry or pay our bills when we cannot out of the goodness of their hearts, because they are in business and although they can be very nice as long as you're playing and paying, they are not our friends or our family. We may give to them as much as we can or do, but they would never give to us when we have a need.
So, I eliminate my greed.
Cashout instead of playing on. Those numerous little cashouts add up to nice little sums.
And recognize who my friends really are and it isn't the casino's.

Hiya: Great post. For table players, I would even add one aditional step in the money management area.
What will, and how much will your next bet be?

imhop, You should always know the answer to this question, based on the results of either winning or losing the prior bet, and before actually making the next bet.

When you have this in place, and then the win goal/loss limit in place, everything else is a lot easier, and more fun when you win, and less dissapointing/stressfull when you lose.

My faviorate rule was the, "Buy something with the Winnings". Winnings screenshots are one thing, but pointing to things you bought and saying, "Casino xxxx paid fo that", is quite another thing.......

Great OP! Lot of good advice there.

Completely agree with this, too.

The answer to this should *always* be "the same as your last bet"...ie anything other than flat betting is asking for trouble (and usually the basis for a "<blank> software is rigged" thread). As for win goal/loss limit etc. I totally agree. I know I am becoming addicted when I start choosing my addiction over other things. Time to back away.
