I have a Neteller Net+card wich lets me withdrawl money straight from my Neteller account at any ATM.
Well, it has been working fine for me until today.
Didnt have much in there, about 300 bucks and decided to cash them in. Went to the ATM which seemed to process forever, then returning with a message saing that the bank could not be contacted. When trying later it said that the bank would not aprove the wothdrawl due to lack of funds

I logged on to my neteller account to find out that the first time had been registred as a withdrawl and that it now said that i had been "paid"
I have emailed neteller but they take soooo long to answer. I will visit my bank tomorrow, but just wanted to hear. Has anyon ehad this happen and what was the outcome?

That sucks! I have never had this happen at an ATM before, but it does happen sometimes online.
I'm quite sure this will be rectified by the "merchant" or ATM automatically, when they realize the money was not paid, yet they posted a transaction to your card.
If it's anything like an online timed out transaction, the amount will be refunded in a few days. As far as I know there's nothing you can do to speed up the process (again if it's like an online transaction).

Hi Marie, yes this does happen, and its normally fixed really quickly, can be if the atm machine is empty, or has an issue, for some reason it more often or not takes the money, so thats why it would have said lack of funds the next time you tryed, id say it will be back there normally in a couple of days.

I've been a customer with NETELLER for years now and every "problem" that occured was solved quite quickly. Most of the times i didn't even had to contact them.

I'm convinced it will be corrected soon. Of course it IS possible they have to contact the ATM-guys to check a few things and that can take a few weeks.

Good luck!

Yes i have had the exact same thing happen to me on a few occasions in the past.

I have noticed when it has happened has been when the Neteller site was down and i have tried to take money out and the first try it would take forever and then say could not complete transaction and then i would try again and it would say insufficient funds.

The first time the ATM did that to me i had a few thousand in there and i kept thinking it must of been the ATM so i would try another until finally it said i had insufficient funds and i got home and Neteller was down and finally a few hours later was able to log in and saw i had nothing in there...

I tried to explain it to them what had happened and that it was not right that i have to wait up to 7 days which they told me it could take for the transactions to be declined but there was nothing i could do but wait.

Thankfully it only took 2 days and a few other times it happened it was fixed a little sooner but it does frustrate and worry you when it happens.

Now when i see Neteller is going to have a scheduled outage, i stay well clear of using my card or depositing anywhere for that matter...But then again, Neteller is known for having loads of unscheduled outages so you never can tell.

If I were you I would phone Neteller around 9:00 EST and speak directly to someone from accounts, they normally ring back within a few hours and in some cases solve the problem whilst on the phone to you, I guarantee that outside office hours you may as well speak to yourself whilst gently banging your head against a wall for comfort .

It has never ceased to amaze me that problems regarding cash and your account (99.999999% of them), can never be addressed outside office hours as the guys on CS and phone duty are Beryl the cleaner and Ted the security dude, who will aptly tell you that this *problem* is outside of their jurisdiction and you will have to wait until the grown ups return in the morning as they are the only ones whom can deal directly with cash problems.

However if there are problems arising in an environment that by all means is purely a cash related business, that are none cash related, use the live chat service ;).

The worst scenario would be if there is a delay and the money comes out of the machine after you leave the atm.

It happend to my sister once. The machine said "not enough funds" when she tried to withdraw €500 so she left. She didn't try a second time though. A few days later the bank called that someone found the €500 in the ATM and they were able to trace it back to her account. She was very lucky. The bank was not able to find or even SEE in the logs what went wrong, but the money HAD been taken from her account the first time.

Poor error message, as clearly the "bank" WAS contacted in order to post the transaction as paid.

The problem with Neteller is that their systems don't fail "safely" in such situations, and similar to the online timeout, things have to be unpicked by hand later.

Aye, as they bounce off the respective merchant and you with the transaction code of doom.......

Merchant......`But we need the Neteller transaction code`...

Me..............`But they are telling me, they need yours!!`.

Merchant.....`You, they, have ours`.

Me............. `I know`.

Merchant.... `We cannot trace any Neteller transaction without the transaction code`.

Me............. `I will call them again, and see if the grown up`s have arrived in the office yet, besides, there must be one chimp there that I haven`t explained the complete fiasco to yet, (at the rather low cost international call rate :(), nope, no good, I cannot have the code until i`ve eaten my vegetables and tidied my room up`.

Neteller....... `Hi, is there anyone here that requires a transaction code?`

Me............ `Yes, me please`.

Neteller...... `Ah great, here we go Mrs Smith?, and that`s all we have time for today, feel free to join us again tomorrow, when the grown up`s return, and we can release yet another transaction code. Oh Mr Angry, why are you smashing your keyboard over your head for?`.

I`ve had 4-5 problems regarding bugged transactions since i`ve been with Neteller, the worse being a few years ago at Xmas, I had my Xmas bonuses Ukash vouchers at the ready to load my Neteller account rather than split them, I filled in the codes and other stuff etc and hit return, (sometimes it can take upto 15 minutes for the *instant* deposit method to be uhmmmmm instant) so I waited patiently, after 30 minutes I got worried, and after having similar problems with Neteller and Ukash before, I opted for the best option available to me to try and sort out what had happened, so I rang Ukash and they reliably informed me that I would need the transaction code from Neteller so Ukash could track it on the system, Oh Boy /facepalm.

It took 14-15 days to finally get this code as the grown up`s were on the Xmas hol`s, and those left in charge could not work out how to check my bugged transaction and cross reference a code for it, this had a knock on affect of blocking another Ukash deposit and thus completely ruining my various Xmas deposit bonuses (I have strict guidelines in place regarding using my debit or credit cards, once the cash hits my bank, it stays there, or some bloodthirsty divorce lawyers get their fangs stuck into it).

I ended up depositing the lot at one casino as I cba splitting the vouchers as some deposits were going to be dollars and had relative conversion charges.

Don`t even get me started on the bugged double deposit at Ladbroke`s fiasco lol which bounced between Ladbroke`s (I asked to cancel it), which Ladbroke`s did, it returned to them three times before I said to them `If it comes back again just accept it as a deposit` lol`.

Have you made any progress, Marie?

My wife and I had the same problem on May 2. We called Neteller right away, and they told us the funds would be returned to the account in a short while. The funds never appeared, and Neteller wrote "We have reviewed the transaction in question, and found that they were processed successfully." When we contacted the bank that operates the ATM, they informed us that their ATMs dispense a maximum per transaction that is lower than the amount we attempted to withdraw, so it is impossible that the transaction was processed successfully. Yet the funds were debited from the Neteller account.

On June 21 we filled out and returned Neteller's cardholder dispute form. On July 12 we emailed them to ask if their had been any progress, and still have not received a reply. I assume the funds still have not been returned, but cannot be sure, as my wife's Neteller account has been locked since August 11, when they requested proof of identity documents which we provided the same day.

Needless to say, we are not pleased with Neteller and Net+

Sorry for the late reply... But yes, my money was returned to my neteller account within 48 hours and i was able to make a new withdrawl!
I am sorry this was not the case for you =(

Thanks for the update, Marie

A poster at the 2+2 forum suggested that I contact Neteller support through Twitter, and they haven't replied there, either. Does anyone have any other suggestions?

Foreclose on them!!!

Sorry if it didn't cheer you up

I had 2 deposit problems with moneybookers.. so not alike your problem at all. Anyhow it took quite some time to finally get my deposits on my account.
So your problem might not be resolved so fast, but I think you will get it in the end

Aha... great bit. Would love to foreclose on Neteller. Meanwhile, we called Neteller support, and it turns out that Neteller isn't happy with the identity documents, and won't look at our dispute, because the account is locked. Was it locked because we filed a dispute? Who knows. I just wish they'd told us when we sent the documents three weeks ago...
