I spoke to three Micro AffManagers about it, and this is what they said (in the order that I asked):

#1) "Yea... Micro will be out of the US in three... tops five... days."

#2) "What? No way, man... Micro's not going anywhere."

#3) "Ive heard similar rumors. We'll have to see this week what happens."

So that's definately maybe... I'd guess they'd almost have to, but we'll see if there is any news in t-minus 4 days.

Just be patient guys, Harrah's will be taking care of our online gaming sooner than you know...just wait and see !

We want have to deal with all these crazy terms and conditions then either because they will be holding out federal taxes on our winnings.

There will be caps placed on your weekly deposits based on what level of player you are with them at their land based casinos.

Oh goodie. So then we can play their 7/5 Jacks or Better and get paid 6/5 for a blackjack??? All that and no bonuses. Yippee!

Perhaps we should be asking J.Todd at Perspectives exactly where this information came from and if he has attempted to verify it with Microgaming,s PR agency in London or the corporate head office in the Isle of Man before publishing?

Since when has one of these companies informed players and the press in advance. Why would MG be any different? The only safe move for US players would to be to leave nothing on account overnight at an MG casino until more than a week has passed, by which time the rumour will be validated, or prove to be untrue (for now).
I see S Korea are now going after online gaming operators, so that Cryptologic in the frame who quickly locked US accounts where legailty is still in dispute, but happily take Korean players where it is illegal, but few players are aware of this. I expect other governments will jump on the bandwagon and crack down while the industry is severely weakened, and the likelihood of success is greatest.

It is a matter of professionally checking out a rumour that could cause alarm and possibly damage before publicising it.

For all I know the Perspectives editor may have done that, in which case if he received no official response from MGS itself he should have noted that.

If this turns out to be another unsubstantiated story, then I hope that the author of the Perspectives piece will be the first to apologise to posters and readers here for publishing unconfirmed rumours nd causing concern.

I think Rob has an interesting point myself - ok it may not be soon, and how it would operate is not clear, but I think it's in the pipeline myself. Not a bad thing though.

Agree 100%, with the above statement.

But in these fluid times, we players come to these message boards seeking information. This information could have a huge bearing on players with pending bonuses with WR left on their accounts. Or balances left in MGS accounts, while the ewallet issues get figured out.

Before NETeller left the US. Most players figured that was a safe / liquid place to store funds. Those players are now feelling very different about the safety of their NETeller funds.

Once the operators close markets, the market closure procedures used, seem to protect the operators best interests first, not their former customers, who they will no longer serve. The players are left waiting for snail mail balances to arrive at the casinoes convenience. Alot of times months after the market was closed, to the former customers.

J.Todd at Perspectives, never seemed to imply this as 'fact', only a 'rumor', of a possible MGS US pullout. The people that would be affected by this pullout are left to use this information at their discretion.

My personal opinion is that the US big names will enter this market - they can't leave a $6 billion and potential business just lying around on their doorstep.

The only question is how long will it take them to un-fcuk the Frist mess so that they can get into the US market.

And I agree with Simmo that it will probably be a good thing for US players - I have made that comment in another thread recently btw.

REO, I understand your argument even if I do not agree with it. Journalists and editors have a responsibility to show both sides of the coin where it is possible. Unfortunately there are too many who don't in favour of the quick sensational story or "rumour"

And as far as Microgaming is concerned, they have shown by example that they are not in the habit of leaving players in the lurch and unpaid.

Think Tropika and Goodfellas for starters.

Jetset.. dont recall where I read it but the US is entering the online gaming world. There was a news article that I read just in the last few weeks that Harrahs is launching an online site to break into the UK market of online gaming. Will go on a Google search and see if I can locate it..

This is most likely to happen in September. Many of the big US names have held talks with the government, and seem to have struck deals for the new supercasino at least (should be announced this week, possibly today). I saw a documentary on this last week, and the last part mentioned that online gaming was also being considered.
32Red and Ed Ware were featured, but I wonder if Ed knew the overall tone of the program was anti-gambling:what:

I read a comment elsewhere from someone who apparently applied for a casino licence and was told that existing licencees were permitted to take US players but that new ones weren't. We should know soon as there are two new MG casinos launching as I write.

Thanks - you'll find this in Casinomeister News where it was reported late last year. It's actually the Vegas Sands group which owns the Venetian and the Palazzo land operations.

They have engaged Cantor Gaming to deliver an online casino targeted on European players and due for launch later this year.

Yesterdays Observer carried an interview with the ex-mayor of Las Vegas and now Harrahs executive Jan Jones ahead of this weeks Supercasino decision in the UK.

Speaking about what next, Jones suggested Harrahs could well open a European website soon. As the owner of the World Series of Poker brand, Harrahs is also considering the idea of bringing the concept to the UK

As far as I remember from the clip this was not presented as fact.

It is a rumor, and it may happen as it may well happen with other softwares. All softwares are discussing how to best manage the situation. All possibilities are considered.

It is best to wait and see what really will happen, no one WANTS to pull out of the US and I am sure all efforts are directed at providing a safe gaming experience with a safe and well managed withdrawal/deposit system.

I already agree with you on the journalistic responsibility of the show 100%.

After Pinnacle pulled out of the US market suddenly, in a interview with the 'main man', he stated the reason for no prior warning to US players was "we didn't want people 'taking shots' at us." Sometimes, I feel as if the casinoes may possibly use this logic also, on their US pullouts, more than the poker rooms ? It would seem that it would be easier to 'take shots' at a casino or sportbook, than a card room.

I do not think that any of the Microgaming casinoes will abscond with players funds. And hope that my prior post did not imply that. Because that is not what I meant.

Below is a copy of one of the many emails sent to me by Cryptologic on Oct.3. I was paid by all of them, eventually. Average time for the check to arrive via snail mail, 3 weeks. Same with Net Ent. casinoes. The market closure procedures used by Cryptologic, and Net Ent., benefitted them, not 'our' best interests mutually. If Cryptologic or Net Ent., resumes US operations in the future, I would gamble with both again.

I personally equate Microgamings integrity and reputation equally with both of the aforementioned casino clients. And can only 'assume' Microgaming would follow similar procedures if they are to 'possibly' pullout of the US market.

A 'rumor' that would have allowed me to cashout prior to these sudden US pullouts. Would have saved me a months worry about 'possible' bank roll hit. As well as allowing my $$ to work for me, during the waiting time for the snail mail checks to arrive.

As well as worrying about, possible US government scrutiny, from cashing multiple large checks from Cyprus based banks? [geographically to damn close to the middle east]

Just my personal view as a paranoid American based player.
