OK, I have been playing the free MG tournaments for a while at different casinos. My question is this: How do these people get 30000 points after just 1 minute of play. I am lucky if I get 3 spins out of a minute of play much less that many points. I just got through with one at Villento. By the time I got my first 3 spins, someone had 31000 points already. I know my computer is slow but damn, what kinda computer are they using?

Somebody explain to me. :what:

5 scatters at Tomb Raider. I got it on Monday for the feeder tourney to $20000 weekender and my balance suddenly shot up to $30000+. My computer is also slow. I can never use the whole balance at T/S and usually have a remaining balance of 300-400 when I run out of time. Nevertheless, I have won 2 T/S tourneys. It's better for Tomb Raider and I can usually use the whole balance with 10 seconds to spare unless I get features. For the $200 tourneys, the computer slows down probably because of the larger number of players. I have found that you should wait for 8-9 minutes before you start playing as most of the other players will have finished by then and your computer runs much faster. Dont wait more than 10 mins though as the tourney only lasts for 15 mins and you will have less than 5 mins to play if you are too late.

You were actually unfortunate to get 5 scatters in the feeder and not the actual Weekender. There is a good chance to win the Weekender if you get 5 scatters there, as you would finish with 60000 points or so.

Again we see the myth perpetuated that it is down to slow computers.

Well, it aint. MG have deliberately RIGGED these tournaments to run so slowly. They will neither confirm, nor deny, this - but I know, as with a fast PC they ran one HELL of a lot faster when they first came out, and then, one weekend last year...... they RIGGED them.

Yes, it was THAT weekend, when the tournament software crashed so badly that Royal Vegas postponed the end time of the various events, and even gave refunds!!!

It wasn't actually broken, but MG added a delay step that is designed to slow down fast computers, in effect "Crippleware".

It's not very good, as it can make a FAST computer much slower than a slow one.

You should be getting one spin every 4 seconds outside of bonus rounds, but they run far slower during free spins when you hit a win as it cycles to show you every sodding winline, eating up vital seconds.

Thunderstruck can give some big wins, such as wild hammers or castles. In free spins, these can propel you from nowhere to first place in one spin - it has happened to me.
The same is true of Loaded, and to some extent Avalon with a good multiplier + good win in free spins.

Tomb Raider is more pedestrian, as much of the time you stay close to the number of coins played, and many wins are not big enough to make much difference. Two that are - 5 scatters, and 4 Wilds (10,000 points). There is also a combo that gives you TWO winlines of the second highest symbol, and this can give 5000 points, and 15000 if in free spins.

I have had all these, except for the elusive 5 wilds, in various tournaments, although never the right ones:mad:

These tournaments show just how CRAP a game Tomb Raider really is, you rarely win more than 1.5x your total stake in a session, although you also never lose heavily, as you might with Thunderstruck.

"Free" tournaments are rarely free either, many have continues and even rebuys, so by playing truly for free, you have very little chance if others are willing to pay for a better position.

Thanks guys for the input. I have played twice at Villento in the last couple of days. The first time I was getting a spin every 20 seconds. I would push the button and the reels would spin and spin and spin. It was so obvious that I finally just gave up. The last time I got a spin every 15 seconds. Again, push button, spin and spin. I have never even gotten below 3000 of the 5000 I was given.

I used to play at Riverbelle in the same tournaments and while I never won, I have had some nice hits and no problems with the spins.

Now I know it's probably not my computer. :D

There is a display cock-up that proves it has been deliberately rigged, look at your playable balance.

Normally, as soon as you hit spin, the cost of the spin is removed IMMEDIATELY, no matter how long the reels take to come to rest.

When the MG "rigging" comes into effect, you press spin, but the balance does NOT have the cost of that spin removed, it is held deliberately in limbo. When you are allowed the result, the balance first reflects the cost of the spin and the reels begin to come to rest. This deliberate delay is about 6 seconds long. Another way to check this is when you hit spin with, say, 2 seconds left. You will find you time out without ever getting that spin, even though you requested it BEFORE time was out. NORMALLY, even when time hits zero, if the reels are in motion they are allowed to come to rest and award the results of that spin (even if they don't include the remainder of spins in a bonus round).

These cock-ups are what expose that MG are behind this, rather than it purely being down to individual player's kit.

MG earlier got "busted" when the "bonus bubble" showed the results of a spin before the reels had come to rest (they fixed this by altering the software to hide the evidence:rolleyes:), which proves even more that the tournament has been rigged as even if the reels are in motion, the spin should have already been resolved as soon as it was requested, and hence should play out in full if requested even in the last second of available time.
"Cheating" in the gamble/double games were also exposed by a similar display glitch, the result being predestined, rather than determined by which option the player chose on the double/gamble feature screen.
Slot bonus rounds probably "cheat" in the same way.

Ive been lagged down in these tourneys also. One time I paid for a tourney got 2 spins disconnected and so on till i did get back in on 3rd spin time was up.
I did pm rep they did refund my money. All they had to do was look at the chips i played i was down 3 spins from my start balance. Win balance was 0.
Placed in top 10 few times. Only time i do pay now for them is in free play if im in money range and the cost for me to continue i get back in playing again.
Dont know if this helps as tourney starts i never start with them i wait 30 secs
then begin i seem to have a lot less lag time and your time doesnt start till you hit spin.

Simmo,

I checked out the website you suggested. I have a built-in card and it is set at 16MB. Highest setting I have.

I turned off the Windows firewall, AOL spyware. Can't find out how to turn off AVP (could use help here).

I am downloading 3Dice now and it seems to be working better, e.i. downloading faster. The next tournament is 2 hrs. away so I will check it then.

Yeah, I know. Hoping for a repeat though. If I do and win the 1st prize, this will just be perfect.

PS Bugger, if you are seeing this, wish me luck and i will make certain the kids are happy.

Great going Ive won few of those not the top prize mind you but landed 100 from them. What i do is first see up to what position they are paying to. Then if i had nice start sometimes not even i will continue with one buy to see where it lands me. Now next is how many days does this run for i norm hold off next buy to see how far out of reach it is to even get at the 100 pay back. then on my last day i use my next buy and see from there. I fig i would spend 5 or 10 dollars on a slot anyways and if you can get into the top line they do pay nice in those tourneys and pay within the 12 hours of tourney closing.

GOOD LUCK

Okay, just finished my free 10 mins of play. Got the free spins 3 times once with 4 scatters and now I am standing at 20240 at position 50. Any advice on whether I should rebuy.

It's well worth going all the way, as the top 100 get at least $100, and this would refund the 5x$20 cost of the continues after the free start.
If you can get to 50,000 you should be in with a chance of the higher prizes.

I have found, though, that the slot has a way of evening things out over the full course of 6 sessions. Good ones are balanced by bad ones, and it seems very hard to get above 40,000

The top prizes generally go to scores around the 60,000 level. I have once seen a 100,000+ winner, and this had to be something pretty rare.

I had a fairly decent start, but my last session was crap, so it looks again like it is evening out for a 35000 to 45000 total, and my $100 back.

Update:

Right behind you VWM. I am at position 89 with 27120 coins after the 1st paid session. Started off poorly but got the 3 buddhas twice and the free spins near the end. They paid poorly though with the free spins+ scatter paying 1100 only. Nevertheless, 4 sessions remaining though and I think I should make the top 100 at least.

Yes, I do mean the continue-play options. Do you know what are the usual results for the top 5?

Well, I did record the results from 21th April Weekender and they were:

Code:
65370; 1st
52280; 2nd
50065; 3rd
48690; 4th
48113; 5th
48060; 6th
48035; 7th
47740; 8th
46675; 9th
46326; 10th
42360; 20th
40736; 30th
39001; 40th
37735; 50th
35966; 60th
34855; 70th
34215; 80th
33495; 90th
32671; 100th

Of course each week the results are different. Sometimes there is more competition and sometimes there is less. But top 10 usually requires 45000 coins or more.

You can estimate where you will land at the end by adding coins left to your win box. For example if you have 4 continue-play options left, you can add 4 x 5000 = 20000 to the current win box value to see where you will approximately land.

Actually, 40th is the last place to pay $100. After that it is:

41 - 50 = 80$
51 - 60 = 60$
61 - 70 = 40$
71 - 80 = 20$
81 - 90 = 16$
91 - 100 = 10$

It is probably someone getting 5 wilds during free spins which pays 112 500 coins with maximum bet.
