I had to sit through Home Alone fucking 2 Xmas day despite having a few Baileys to make me sleep beforehand (alas I woke up half way through) and today I've had to sit through Call the bastard Midwife while trying to read and blank it out. No doubt tonight will be a string of sodding soap recordings before I get to watch MoTD or something remotely interesting.

I really, really detest Christmas, the mental prison it becomes.

It's started for me now, the annual losing track of what day it is.

The art of tv scheduling at christmas has pretty much gone out of the window, and Ant and Dec have clearly been influenced by bonanza with the name of their quiz show 'Limitless Win' ?

I am now in a state of despair, the walls closing in on me. I am sitting here at my PC table bored witless, with the hex flumped in the other room, having exhausted her supply of crap house/home programmes and soaps only to decide to embark on a marathon session of some mindless shite called Traitors with that annoying woman presenting it. One look at the telly as I walked past and glanced at the crowd of carefully-chosen over-eggers, extroverts and OTT weirdos all secretly hoping to be 'spotted' for a future career in moron-TV on the back of the programme, confirmed my worst fears.

I am so fucked-off it's beyond description. As a kid from the 70's I thought experiencing shit variety shows, Generation Game, Eurovision and Opportunity Knocks etc. was the absolute nadir of televisual tripe, the bar could not go any lower. How wrong was I.

Reality shows and talent shows since 2000 or any television vehicle which encourages the cerebrally challenged to embarrass themselves to seek 15 minutes of fame quickly disabused me of the notion it couldn't get any worse.

It's a Bank Holiday, everwhere is shut and I wish there was a human on/off button like slot autoplay, whereby at the commencement of these hours of impending tedium one could simply 'pause' one's life and have the time added on at the end if you get me.

LOLOL - Have to say I really enjoyed Traitors, especially considering as I hardly watch any television now on the main old school network channels. But, the XMAS television has been absolutely pants. I remember as a kid when our parents would buy both the TV and Radio Times complete with a full 2 weeks listing of the four channels TV schedule for Christmas.

Back then, we had a Christmas Day network premiere movie to look forward to, the likes of an OFAH Christmas Special and the obligatory Christmas TOTP. Now what do we get served? Mrs Browns Bloody Boys. Give me strength!!

Don't catch much of 'normal TV' (Wednesday, Reasonable Doubt, National Treasure, Black Bird, Slow Horses etc normally fill my month) so not been part of Xmas TV for a good 10 years: with so much on demand i didn't know it was still a thing.

Did watch 1/2 of Traitors - what a stupid show. It was basically a guessing game, with no clues for the other team other than wannabe body reading experts
