Major problems with neteller

Well Neteller has been going through a major upgrade in the last couple of weeks :) maybe thats why peeps are waiting i also see that they are down to
scheduled system outages right now, i logged in there earlier today and actully made a transfer, about Facebook i see they have not been there for couple of days thats all, im sure there is nothing to worry about :)

Looks like they have screwed up yet again. They had HUGE problems with their earlier major upgrade, which overran by 100%, and left customers unable to pay for shopping with the Net+ card, as well as inconveniencing those who use Neteller for it's original purpose (gambling:D).

The sign-in redirects to the "system outage" page, BUT this page WRONGLY tells you that "Neteller is currently available........ sign in at <usual URL>"

It was OK this morning when I logged in, and now it is offline. I can see NO notices of scheduled maintenance, so this must be "unscheduled" maintenance.

The last upgrade left a few problems, and maybe the system has crashed on them, and they are trying to get it back. This is an unsual time for anything "routine".

Failing to respond on Facebook is only going to make matters worse for them, they got a great deal of stick for only giving vague and limited information last time when they were still offline well after 10am. NO information when they are not even supposed to be offline is going to make things even worse. Many customers were posting on Facebook that they were going to leave Neteller for Moneybookers the last time, so this time maybe these customers WILL follow through and sign up with Moneybookers (until they find out Moneybookers is even WORSE than Neteller;) ).

thanks for the replies vinyl. i can understand even some unscheduled outage, especially after a major upgrade. However people on facebook have been waiting for withdrawls for 2 weeks+. I have been waiting a week....this is not good right?

No, not good at all. Bank transfer to the UK should not take more than a week, although this was one of the processes that was having "issues". Selecting "Check" might get around this, but you would have to get hold of their support first, since it depends on where in the system the problem lies.

They had a problem that prevented transactions to & from merchants until the end of last week, and one of my withdrawals (from a casino) was held up for at least 3 days from when I would normally expect it. I have not seen any problems with deposits to casinos so far, although others have.

Maybe this is a "first thing Monday morning" operation because of continuing problems over the weekend, and this is the first chance they have with all their tech staff in, as well as support.

it is a cheque i am waiting for and its not arrived. they are really worrying me now

Don't worry if it's a cheque, they can take over a week because of delays in the post. Get hold of them, and ask them when the cheque was sent. If they say it has NOT been sent, you have a valid case for complaint.

They have now posted on facebook that the site and Net+ cards are again "temporarily unavailable". Oh dear!

Just incredibly INCOMPETENT, not bust.

Customers got VERY angry over the rash of SEVERE problems recently, and this started the rumour that they were going under. Unfortunately, the problems all lead to customers being unable to access their funds for extended periods of time, and promises not being met. When things went wrong, their assurances have not been supported by the facts.

You should have got the cheque by now, and they have done this to me before. After two weeks of chasing & getting lied to with "all is OK, it might be delayed in the post, give it time....." I discovered that they had NEVER sent it in the first place. They had implemented a "secret" policy change, told no-one, not even their support agents it seems, so whilst they were waiting for me to update some documents because of the new policy, support were NOT telling me I had to send them, they were telling me to wait & the cheque will arrive soon.

It would be worth finding out if this is what has happened in your case. Do NOT believe support if they try the "it is in the post" line, as if everything went as it should, you would have received it by now.

Remember that they have "form". Way back when they were telling all their US customers that their funds were secure, and that the ONLY change was that they could no longer use Neteller for gambling transactions. US customers had no other use for Neteller, thus started withdrawing funds. For MONTHS Neteller lied to everybody, saying that delays were due to th sheer volume of requests for withdrawals, and that they were being processed, and eventually customers would get their money. After a few months, they were rumbled. They no longer HAD the funds!! The DoJ had frozen their accounts, and they were processing NO withdrawals whatsoever for US customers. It took over a year to sort the mess out, and for MOST, not all, US customers to recover their funds.

This high profile incident STILL results in "guarded trust" of Neteller, as we know they are PREPARED to do something "dishonest" like this in certain situations, so any problems that result in money being unavailable, or disappearing without logical cause, leads to speculation that another such "situation" has arisen, and Neteller are bluffing their way out of a crisis.
In this case, the rumour is that they don't have the money to underpin their liabilities, so are using stalling tactics to hide this. The most likely explanation though, is that they have REALLY screwed up this major upgrade, and are now suffering the consequences because they keep saying nothing is wrong, when it clearly is.
