Hi,

I have lost about USD 50,000 the last year on sports betting at BETWAY. I have opened a second account (the first account was closed by my self (self exclusion) which Betway accepted me to use. During the year I have gotten that same account closed by self exclusion due to excessive betting, but when I have asked Betway in a weak moment, they have opened the betting account again without any questions.

Do I have any chance of getting this amount back from Betway, do you have any experience in this?

Cheers,

Finnlugg

Was there a specified period for self-exclusion? If there was and the period of SE had lapsed then there is nothingwrong with reopening your account. Please relay more details of your self-exclusion to us.

Welcome to CM

Difficult one as i don't have much info on the Norwegian Responsible Gaming regulations.

You can contact the CM rep, he was last online beginning of Feb2016, but he will be notified if he receives a new message, click here: https://www.casinomeister.com/forums/members/12995/

The T&C's from Betway say the following:

Read it and check if they have followed the T&C's when they re-opened the account, specifically:

- the SE-period - was it expired when you asked for the re-opening
- did they give you the 24hr cooling-off period

I would be surprised though if they would give you back all your losses. You can only hope for those after they re-opened your account and that even is rather unlikely.

I asked my BETWAY account to be closed by using chat function. Also when I opened it was opened thrugh chat before the period was over, it took me only 20 Seconds to have it opened before the cool Down period was over. In the TC it says that it should be done by phone or in person, and NOT by chat. Do I have a point here, i will probably settle if they repay me about USD 20,000 i recon.

THanks for Your help,

Finnlugg

Next question is: Did you clearly asked for Self-Exclusion when you had your account closed?

If Yes, then Betway did not follow their own T&C's and i would think you should at least try to file a complaint with their designated ADR.

Hi again,

Yes i did clearly asked to have the account closed for SE. What is ADR? Where would it be relevant to send the complaint? If I send it to my own account manager, she will just delete it and not send it to her managers......

Greatly appreciate Your support so far.

Cheers

ADR - Alternative Dispute Resolution

You have to follow the procedure as per their T&C's:

- first submit your complaint to Betway
- if no resolution you can submit it to an ADR

I feel for the OP here. IF he has excluded for a specific time then under no circumstances must the site re-open the account until the SE period expires. Even then they may impose a 24-hour cooling-off before taking deposits again.

The site must also take all reasonable steps to discover and close duplicate accounts and void bets. Most sites won't let you get as far as opening a duplicate account with the same details. If you do, they should spot it and summarily close it and void bets.

If, as you allege, they have actively encouraged or facilitated bets from one account knowing you are an SE player in another duplicate account that is a serious breach of their license regardless of which country you play from.

You need to have chat logs or other proof too. If you did it would indeed merit a PAB.

So moral of story is, if you lose everything demand it all back :what:

No, but at the same time it's wrong of the casino if they are taking advantage of a compulsive addict. He clearly is one, but if he never told them that then he won't get a cent.

True, but lets not make out all compulsive gamblers are not smart either, it's easy to gamble 50k if you know you can claim it back, so what happened if he had won? this thread would not exist.

Then I guess it would be a thread later with a higher amount:eek2:

I don't think they would put themself in the position that he can/could get anything back, but if he had won they knew he would play it back.
That 50K have been over some time I assume.
