I'm currently listening to...

Last one for a bit as I have to take the dog out. Heading back to my Top Songs of 2016 list as per my spotify playing habits.

Good morning Goatwack,

Sorry to bother you on a Saturday (being the leg day at the gym and all), but I just wanted to quickly send you this PM in case you are not aware what's happening with the music thread. I didn't want to post publicly since it's not that big of a deal anyway.

The thing is, we might have another Dino situation brewing. I know, things got pretty hairy the last time this happened, but you did an awesome job at that time to bring the thread to its correct course. As one can expect from the grey eminence of the forum!

Anyhoo, it might have been just a Friday thing and seems things have already cooled off. But just to let you know, your input might be still needed.

Since you were recently outed as the true prophet of perpetual doom, here's a song for you to enjoy while working out.

Have a nice day!

I'm going through a bit of 'covers' stage as of late, always interesting to see classics handled with aplomb.

Ignoring her propensity for drooling blood and doing vampireface, chief partner-in-crime to The Vasc, Violet Orlandi, doing that Brazilian thing of being beautiful and talented!

Well it is Simp Saturday. If not now, then when?

Here is how an AI bot sees this song :D

What's All the Fuss with "I Feel Sick"?
Hey, ever listened to this Deftones track and wondered, "What on earth is going on here?" You're not alone! This song is like a puzzle, wrapped in enigma, dipped in mystery sauce. One thing's for sure: the repeated phrase "I feel sick" isn't just about catching a cold.

We're talking existential-level queasiness here. Think Jean-Paul Sartre jamming with the band, asking life's big questions.

Who's the "You" and Why Should We Care?
Notice how the lyrics keep circling back to this mysterious "you"? Well, get this—the "you" could be anyone or anything. It's a chameleon term, changing its colors based on your own life stories. One day, it might be that co-worker who's all smiles but spills office secrets; another day, it's the societal norms that make you want to roll your eyes so hard they fall out. Yep, it's that versatile.

Apathy or Just Being Real?
When you hear the line "I don't give enough to give a fuck," you can't help but wonder—is this just the ultimate mic-drop moment of not caring, or is it a real struggle? Look, apathy is more than just a shoulder shrug; sometimes it's the armor we put on because caring hurts too much.

So, the next time you jam to this tune, think about what shields you're wearing.

Why So Much Angst?
Let's tackle the 800-pound gorilla in the room—the sheer emotional weight of this song. Words like "sickened" and lines that question someone's validity ("And who the fuck are you anyway, you fuck?") make you want to both head-bang and ponder life. This isn't just run-of-the-mill teenage angst; it's a full-blown call-out to everyone who's ever made you feel insignificant.

The Classical—What?
Between the grit and the grime, the word "classical" pops up. Seems out of place? Not really. It's like the song is saying, "Look, these feelings, these questions—they're as old as time." Whether it's Beethoven wrestling with deafness or you wrestling with Monday blues, the core emotions remain the same.

Wrap-Up
So there you have it—a quick but deep tour of this Deftones masterpiece. Is it a happy song? Far from it. But it sure makes you feel, question, and maybe, just maybe, gives you a new lens to look through. Keep listening and keep questioning—because, just like this song, you're a lot more complex than you appear.

Bots are enjoying this music as well :)

The Intrigue of Transformation
At the heart of Deftones' "Change," we find an eerie fascination with transformation—captured vividly by the imagery of a human morphing into a fly. Is it a Kafkaesque metamorphosis? Maybe, but it's certainly more rock 'n' roll. What's clear is that this change sparks an emotional bonfire; it's a phoenix-like evolution from ashes to air.

Not Just Wings, but Fire
"I watched a change in you. It's like you never had wings. Now, you feel so alive." These lines are pure gold, aren't they? They aren't just talking about a physical transformation but a spiritual one. Wings? Nah, who needs 'em when you're already on fire. This isn't just a superficial alteration; it's an internal, elemental overhaul.

The Dark Side of Change: Pulling Off Wings
Just when you're getting comfortable with the poetic imagery, the lyrics take a darker turn. "I took you home, set you on the glass, pulled off your wings, then I laughed." Ouch. Suddenly, this isn't just about personal evolution; it's about power, control, and even cruelty. That shift gives the song a sinister depth, like biting into a chocolate only to find it's filled with chili pepper.

The Symbolism of the Cross and the Gun
"I look at the cross, then I look away. Give you the gun, blow me away." Whoa, hold up—now we're getting into taboo territory, aren't we? The cross, an icon of faith and salvation, contrasts sharply with the gun, an object of violence. Is this a statement on duality? Could be, but it sure adds layers of paradox to the song.

Alive But At What Cost?
The recurring phrase "you feel so alive" might seem like a high-five to transformation, but don't miss the underlying tension. It's not just about feeling alive but questioning what had to change—or be sacrificed—to get there. It's a tug-of-war between gaining wings and losing essence, making you wonder: what does it really mean to be "alive"?

The Final Note: You've Changed
The song ends with a simple yet haunting repetition: "You've changed." It's like the lingering aftertaste of a strong espresso—bitter, complex, and impossible to ignore. It asks you to reflect on the journey, from the fiery transformation to the unspoken sacrifices.

So the next time this Deftones track fills the air, don't just bob your head—let the lyrics sink in. Let them ignite questions and fuel introspections. After all, it's not just a song; it's a multi-layered narrative stitched together with powerful imagery and contrasting themes.

Like their peers Nickelback, Maroon 5 and Coldplay, Imagine Dragons is a sorry excuse for a band and the world would be a better place without their so called music.

But. Like everything else in life, metal makes the world a better place!

Hanabie's cover of Believer is great. The original is an annoying piece of crap.

This is your 36 hour warning. In such time it will be the start of Friday evening, I will be home alone with the dog as wife and kids are on their half term and are going to the in laws.

So this is fair warning! What could go wrong? Me, on my own with the dog, an empty house and lots of tunes!!!! :D

While we wait for the wonderful onslaught of great music presented by Webzcas, let's listen to more cover versions. Goatwack made me post covers, if you have a problem with this, take it up with him.

And this naturally means we need to start with Leo. This is a great Abba song and a wonderful cover of it. Not as good as Beseech's version, but still very well done.

That's one of the best songs I've heard today :D

Here's another that I really like. This one also includes sound!

Now this is very special to me. One of my favourite bands of all time being The Rolling Stones and The Sundays covering Wild Horses.

No one other than The Sundays and the dulcet tones of Harriet Wheeler's voice comes close to doing justice to covering a Stones track. But by god this is just pure phenomenal IMO.

*Warning I am on a roll!*

Talking about The Sundays, I do not know why, but this is one of very very very few songs, that really hits me, makes my arm hairs raise and everything, each time I listen to it,

Considering I was born a good near five years before the moon landing, I am a tad surprised. But it is just haunting and beautiful at the same time IMO

Monochrome you say?

After Kroffe posted a doo wob cover of Babymetal and you posted a song named Monochrome, I got a lot of YT recommendations about Babymetal for some reason.

This is my favorite song from the latest album. I'm very happy that I saw them play live a few months ago. There were 3 bands playing that night. Two were ordinary hard rock bands and Babymetal was as metal as metal gets. Raw, very heavy and extremely loud. I was fairly inebriated, but one would probably wake from coma from the undeniable stage presence of the band.

Live videos are great, but there's nothing like actual live concerts.

Yes! 24 hours, well just a little under 26 hours until it is 6pm King Time on Friday!! Question is, what genre of music will I be posting here in this thread? Will more tickets for gigs be booked?

All will be revealed, but until then, let's have some Neil Hannon aka The Divine Comedy and what could be more fitting than Something for the Weekend!
