Afternoon delight from Rottengraffty.

I worry for your Japanese obsession. If you ever turn up at a Meistermeet I almost expect you to look like this

I blame Babymetal. They opened my eyes to Japanese music scene. Something I've neglected for too long for reasons unknown. But do not worry my friend, I'm really not obsessive about anything. Enthusiastic, yes. Or bipolar and unaware of it

But yes, those sweet pint sized metal cheerleaders from hell have had a great influence over my listening habbits.

Back to St Paddy's, while this is not my favourite cover of this, it is my favourite by Metallica

It might not come as a surprise to readers of this thread, but I love Metallica. Always have. I basically grew up listening to them. One of the first albums I bought was the double vinyl version of Master of Puppets.

Like other things I enjoy and like in life, I listen to their repertoire with great enthusiasm (or in Goatwackian nadsat obsessively).

Of the numerous songs they have covered, this might be my favourite:

Nothing wrong with obsessing. I'm obsessed about my wife, Marina. Perfectly natural

Bamber I remember that track back in the day, searching the fm waveband for pirate radio stations [ not the seafaring 'ooh ah me hearties' type  ]

Nice to hear somebody with great taste in music too........do you listen to Centreforce radio? 883 DAB

They're back on the air with a lot of the same dj's that used to play the station in 1989 onwards.

One of them even has his son playing a slot now and i get the impression a few of their kids are involved.

Anyway its my go to station for back in the day music and some of the new school also.

Edit: Their playing this little gem at the minute but a little faster as it should be..........

No my reliving the old days extends mainly to listening to tracks on utube when I'm in the mood, I probably still have some audio cassettes with recorded pirate output, if you were into house music they were great as they use to do their own mixing, but the reception was often terrible.
Probably 1989 to 92 was my heyday and then interest tailed off. Still have the 12 inch records that I bought at the time though, I know some people hate dance/house music, so I won't be uploading some of my favourites

I see from another thread you were also a big Bruce Lee fan, ditto again here, they are cheesy and lo budget with the dubbing but I still search them out from time to time. The big boss was the first one I watched, even with all the cuts made by the censor that was quite a gory and grim storyline for a 13 year old

Yes i love chinese and japanese movies, sometimes the older and tackier the better.

My love for Bruce Lee extends further than just his films. He was a lot more than a martial artist and one of the best books i ever read was Bruce Lee - Master Of Life. Would recommend to anyone with an open mind. Its about his philosophy and much more.

He was/is a legend.

Love the bit in Fist Of Fury where the action cuts and then he can be seen swinging lifeless dummies around.

I think I watched that the other week, in the japanese dojo scene

There's quite a few of the old martial art movies on youtube, some are funny. I like jackie chan, the old stuff mainly. I haven't seen a massive amount of his new movies [2000 onwards] but I wanted to watch that 'the foreigner' film he did recently, which looked good.

channel 4 years ago did a whole season of, well you can't call them kung fu, but that type of film, mr vampire being one I remembered, check that out if you haven't seen it :)

Yeah I was aware Bruce wrote stuff on philosophy but I haven't read that book, apparently he was influenced by 'Krishnamurti ' have you read any of his stuff, I tried but it's so deep. I go back to it occasionally but it's not something you can casually read and then carry on life as normal.

Yeh i like Jackie Chan too.

Dya know your the only other person i know who has seen Mr Vampire! Thats the one where they hop right?! Hilarious, love all that stuff.

Ive not read much Philosophy so no Krishnamurti, if youve read some Bruce then youve probably already seen whats in Master of Life anyway. Just a collection of his ideas, thoughts etc etc

Going back to films - The Legend Of The Seven Golden Vampires was a good one i remember and the Seven Samurai is not bad, supposedly a classic.

That's the one! I think sammo hung produced it, he's done some good stuff over the years on his own and with jackie, I think I'll do a search this weekend on youtube, see if I can find those ones you mentioned, but the picture quality is sometimes shocking, sub par VHS
