How Long Have You Been Online Gambling?

I started back in 1998. My very first online casino was Caribean Gold. I really miss the oldie golden years of online casinos. When was the first time you played your first online casino and the name of the casino? What do you miss about then compared to now?

I started online gambling in about 2002 playing poker in paddy power and another venue that offered omaha hi/lo. I did very well from it but with paddy power I would often get free spins on slots which gave me the slots bug.Poker for me takes patience and time whereas I would get my gambling hit much quicker from playing slots and slots with autospins allowed me to do other things at the same time. I only switched to slots on about 2014 when I found myself signing up to every casino I could find in order to take advantage of any free sign up bonus and with that I must have joined over 100 casinos. Some I had to go through hoops in order to get any winnings from. The American facing casinos and those with cupo cocoa licences where a nightmare to obtain winnings from. Then I joined Casinomeister and wised up a little

I started early in 2001.
My first casino was William Hills - on the old original Crytpologic platform.
This was closely followed by Intercasino, who used the same software.

What do I miss about them? Everything!
Especially their super-generous bonuses with very low WR and even card games counted at 100%

I started back in 1789. The French Revolution had just kicked off, and things were getting spicy. So during downtime I'd play some Starburst to take my mind off things, back when its RTP was still 187%.

Things I miss most were the high RTPs and fancy clothing worn by everyone. Thing I miss least is feudalism.

I spotted a small advert in the Sunday People Newspaper, way back in 2003.

Signed up to "The People Casino" (also known as Games Xtra and also now long ceased trading)

First game I ever loaded up was the one shown in the advert, Monopoly Here and Now.

Didn't take me long to discover and move onto the ONLY game I deposited just to Play, IGT's Cleopatra (long before they nerfed it and it was fast and awesome)

Took the odd bonus offer too but was never tied into wagering (probably didn't even know what wagering was back then lol) as it credited as cash after you had played through your deposit a few (5?) times

As some say, the good old days, when slotting truly was fair and enjoyable!

I still remember my first online poker. It was Delta Poker back in 1999. I would sit in my bedroom and play for hrs and hrs before heading to college class.

Yes, so did I until I discovered the joys of Cleopatra and Thunderstruck 2. Back in 2009 I believe it was. When petrol was still 90p a litre, we didn't have wheedling & shrill women commentators on the radio for football matches (ducks**) and the lyrics of Fairytale of NY etc. and Oliver's Army hadn't been meddled with. When a TV crime drama or thriller wasn't immediately unravelled within 30 minutes of episode 1 by ticking off the minority characters checklist leaving only Mr. white-middle-england-Tory-voting-sociopath or one of his family to be the baddie/paedo/wife beater/murderer. When 25% wagering was still about, maximum RTPs and 1668/JAZ was still a meaningless number in the UK.

Gold Club Casino (Antigua) - 2000. No hassles but it took ages to get cheques back through the post via WebDollar !

Happy Days

I think 2000/2001 for me. A friend of mine joined a betting company called Betdirect. He would hear whispers of tips (many of which didn’t win) and I’d put them on for him as he wasn’t allowed to bet in work.

In 2003 I joined the company after looking for a short term money earner while looking for something else. Loved it and worked in many roles before moving to Gibraltar in 2007 to work for 32. Best thing that happened!

When was my last online bet? 15 mins ago. 😂

That long ago i can not remember. Late nineties probably.

Can not remember first casinos i played. Ladbrokes one of first for great Microgaming download casino. Even played Rival casinos and got paid. Intercasino as well. Great fun playing cryptologic. 25P spins redeposit go back to game and press spin. FFS forgot again another max bet spin and balance gone. Need to redeposit again and remember to change bet when go back to slot.

Also computer was so slow. Mind first time playing halloweenies and took ages to count up wins in free spins i used to leave the game and go back took me a while to figure out you could skip the count lol.

But the bonuses with no wagering or next to none were great.

Cut my casino teeth at MG Viper casinos, then Jackpot Party. Used to look forward to Sam sending me a £500 10x wagering bonus at the end of the week. Used to wager an average of £2 a spin and swear I used to lose less than I do these days on 20p a spin!

2011. Via a Weekly Blackjack Freeroll Tournament on All Slots, which was an MG Viper casino.

IIRC, MG Viper "network" casinos had daily freerolls (3 per day I think?) which had 3 rounds.
To get through the first round, you had to be in the top 50%.
To get through the second round, you had to be in the top 7.
Then the third round was basically a final table. Top 3 qualified for the Weekly Final.

I only ever managed to qualify for a Weekly Final once. But that one time I did it, I went on to finish 2nd.
The prize pool was £300 and the top 3 all winning £100 each.

With that £100, I played TS2 at MIN BET and built it up to over £700, before promptly spunking the lot of it.
Mainly because I was a naive, stupid and greedy C U Next Tuesday...

But now, over a decade later, I can proudly state that I have evolved.
I am still a stupid and greedy C U Next Tuesday. But I at least ditched the naivety.

What's that saying about a fool and his money parting company with ease? Yeah, that's me. With knobs on.

When I joined CM, I wanted to call myself mcnaivestupidgreedyc*ntgameboy.

But Bryan rather selfishly limited the number of characters in a CM username to 15, so I had to use the rather dull mcgameboy instead.
I still hold some resentment towards him for that.....

begun in 2003, at that time I was living in another Country (Spain). The first casino I tried was casino-on-net or something like that (if I am not wrong it was later renamed in 888). I can easily remember I hit a huge win on Keno and then I blowed half of it doing silly tests on the roulette.
For me the golden era has been when I could play the Viper MG dotcom casinos, basically VideoPoker and AWPs. With a small deposit I could go on playing for hours and enjoy my time.

Yeah I used to play there a lot "Place your bets, everyone. Place your bets" lol

I think it would have been either 2010 or 2011 (cant remember exactly) but first online casino was Spin Palace and a month or two later Royal Vegas. Eventually signed up to the rest including 32 red (my favorite before the new law came in and made MG leave Australia, still to date my biggest win ever at a casino, 177k with next closest since the new law being around 30k despite me betting much bigger and more aggressively now than I did back then).

Ended up playing for like 3 days straight in 2017 just before the cut off time for MG casinos leaving and was devastated at the time :(

Eventually started playing all the other providers that still serve our country and eventually found ways to play some MG again (VPN at some casinos that allow it but Mega Moolah gone for good since provider pays that jackpot and not the casino) but even though I enjoy a lot of other providers these days MG will always have that nostalgic part in my heart.

Surprised to see so many comments about how most of those casinos have gone to crap these days from everyone overseas that can still play them, guess AU market was a big part of their operation until they were forced to pull out.
