How bad is this bonus?

I received an offer for a "special" bonus with an RTG casino

$50 deposit, 1000% bonus, non-cashable
45x playthrough (D+B i think)
10x max cash out, redeem 1x only.

Now that doesn't sound really good to me, but I was hoping someone could show me the math.

This would be $50 deposit, $500 bonus. Max cashout would be 10x, but 10x what? If 10x the $50 deposit, run a mile. If 10x the bonus, or $5000 - this can be pretty good if played aggressively. Unfortunately, playing a bonus aggressively could cause winnings to be confiscated, so ALL the terms need to be checked. A $5000 cap covers most Random jackpots, and you could always choose games with the RJ at, or less, than around $6-7K. You would look for a big hit, and then complete WR with lower bets (or lower variance games - less obvious;) ).

1000% seems rather high for a LEGIT casino in any case, so check the rogue pit, then the "RTG list" for any clues.

.....or just name them here:D

Even though I stay away from max cashout offers it seems worth taking if max is $5000 and lowest cashout allowed is $50. If you do take up I recommend a minimum bet of at least $5 per spin (or $10 if you don't care about short playtime) to have any real hope of clearing the bonus and hitting big. If you are willing to bet higher than this even better but it could be gone in a few minutes.

Well, I'm moderately sure that it was 10x deposit, most of their capped bonuses are. But this was an exclusive invitation not to be shared for participation in a contest, so I'll check first. Will probably give it a whirl if it's 10x the bonus (and I'll get it in writing too, just in case).

The casino is not CM accredited, but they do have a rep here, and I've not seen any complaints that would stop me from playing there. I've been playing with them for some time.

They've been pretty good with bonuses, and a lot of their weekend offers have a cash back available.

Well the math(s) is pretty simple:
Because is it Phantom (non-cashable), right from the very first spin you need to get over 100% RTP on a very large amount of WR on slots with an average RTP (probably) of 95% to have any chance of cashing out.
So mathematically you are on to a loser right from the off.

However, as others have stated above, if you do bet big and do get lucky early on and then reduce your bets to "grind out" the WR, then you could well achieve the total RTP over 100% you need.
That's the advantage of playing very high variance games like slots.

Also of course, if you're just playing for entertainment this bonus will give you 10 x more playing time than depositing without a bonus, which could actually save you money in the long run (lost deposits at other casinos, or the same one).

Bonus Giggle...

I seldom bother with bonuses anymore.

How's this for a bit of nonsense

Strange how this gambling bug gets you hey.
Easy money?
I can earn $60 - $70 hour as a Piano Tuner!
(Sorry, not enough biz out there to make a living mate)
And I've frittered away plenty of my hard earned dollars.
Enough to realise it makes not much sense.
So yes, I often quit.
Delete the software...
But can't help myself. I keep goin back again!
I smoke too.
An expert at giving that up let me tell you!

So anyway, I class online gambling as "entertainment".
When I lose that is...
Pure "business" when I win!

Hate losing though.
And I experience all sorts of anguish at the thought of wasting hours and giving any of my precious cash to some monster out there in Cyberspace.

But the dream of WINNING forces me to keep going back for more...
Usually deposit 50 and bet minimum coins in 100 spin autoplay mode at turbo speed.
If no free spins I'll go again, stop around 60th, then triple the bets for another 100 spins.
$200 yet?
Cash in!

Lose? Ah well; It's only money....
Another 6 or 7 hours wasted!!!

Not a system; Just the way I seem to be able to play lotsa different places without needing funds anymore.
Somehow my Neteller account balance remains unchanged last 6 months
since I managed a 4th place tournament win of $2000.
Beauty!
Only took 5 years to get my nose in front and hey, 6 months later still intact.

Bonuses? The CasinoRewards issue was a wake up call.
Pricks!
I see others are learning... (Search the forum)

Anyhow, just wanted to remind you that taking bonuses limits your ability to determine when you'll walk away with a profit.
Easy mistake one makes is betting big when well ahead but still way short of the WR.
Next thing you know your balance is back to where you started many hours ago and then they hoist that repulsive lil flag:
"Hey sucker - you have insufficient funds.
Wanna put some more in our wallet? "

Happy New Year fellow addicts ...
ps
Free plug: (I like their slots)
ClubWorld often sends me genuine playable freebies - even though I'm ahead at most of their venues.
My suggestion?
Try em all out using the strategy outlined above.
Don't be too greedy!

Well, thanks for the input gang. The rep has realized this is a poor bonus, and is gonna put together another coupon for us.

BTW, it was 10X deposit AFAIK, which makes it worse than most of the coupons available in the cashier.

But I did receive a ND bonus as a tournament prize, and a nice Xmas gift. Relatively new casino, I think they are still feeling their way around some.

sounds like betphx lately. They have switched from decent bonuses to huge% bonuses that restrict cashout. So you have to make a ton of playthru but cannot cashout a big win. I hate those bonuses. I would rather have 100% with whatever playthru and no max cashout. What fun is it trying to win a jackpot if you can't keep it?
