Have you put up your xmas tree yet?

I actually do have my christmas up, I decorated on Sunday, I guess now since I'm not gambling I have TO MUCH time on my hands, :D

My husbande wants a tree like that now, but with beer cans,

Weird, I just just going to say the same thing:D

p.s. Happy belated birthday Diane.

I'm a scrooge... bah-humbug... don't put up a tree (the cats would have it ripped to shreds and scattered through the house in 5 minutes after I turned my back)... don't put up outside lights either (too damn cold putting them up and taking them down). :D

Mousey, Mousey, Mousey, what do we have to do to get you in the Holiday spirit..If it makes you feel any better, I have 12 cats and when I wake up I spend the first 2 hours looking for christmas balls and as I'm looking for the balls I am kneeling in cat puke filled with pine needles, not only that, it's hard sleeping when I can't help laughing all night listening to the balls bouncing on the hard wood floors, Oh yeah, I had to get rid of all my glass balls and fancy
ornaments just to suit the cats..My railing is decorated and so is around my kitchen/dining room with pine, lights and ribbons, come see the teeth mark in
them..I thank god that cats sleep most of the day, at least when people come over they never know what I went through..Ahhh, only 36 days left til christmas, I can do this for another month, LOL
PUT THAT TREE UP, Mousey, I'll be checking in :D

sorry to dissapoint everybody but christmass has been cancelled,

Santa Claus AKA Father Christmas held a press conference for a baying mob of waiting reporters aboard an icebreaker off Greenland today where he stunned those gathered with the news that Christmas has been cancelled until further notice.

Santa, who looked a dishevelled & beaten man was asked by a reporter from 'Which Xmas Tree Magazine' how he could disappoint all the little girls & boys who have been good this year. Santa said.

"The credit crunch has hit us hard at the North Pole recently. Not only has the cost of materials tripled over the last year but also large parts of the factory keep floating away & melting."

"I've had to lay off hundreds of Elves without pay & with their pensions linked to the stock market the sheer desperation has caused a vulnerable few to sell their Elvish kidneys & other organs to black-marketeering Gnomes. I myself have even had to shoot a few of the reindeer to save on fodder."

"Traditionally we're a non-profit organisation but we are now considering a merger with Toys-R-Us & Royal Mail if things dont start to improve quickly. I may even have to rent out my sizeable sack."

Santa also warned that if the Pixies didn't lower the price of 'Pixie Dust' he may not even get the sled airborne this year. One of the few reindeer left uneaten, Rudolph, told us.

"Ever since Santa got a call from the External Revenue Office about his unpaid back taxes & the bank turning his loan application down on the luxury Igloo he'd planned for his retirement he has maxed out all his credit cards buying huge amounts of Gingersnaps, Brandy & Advocaat. His drinking has become so bad his nose is getting redder than mine & more disturbingly he keeps getting into fights with Polar Bears."

Later Santa Claus appeared to stagger from the Press conference clearly inebriated & in possession of a large bottle of Babycham. He was heard shouting abuse at the paparazzi as he left.

If you use good litter, have enough litter boxes out, keep the 'presents' scooped out regularly, feed the cats good food, and keep your cats healthy, litter boxes don't stink up the house. :p

Nope, Laurie... no hope for me to put up a tree... I hope not to be home Xmas week ~crossing fingers for a Tunica trip~ I'll let the casinos worry about decorating and baking the Xmas ham. ;)

And someone mentioned T'giving... Yikes! I'd almost forgotten! I've got to get out this week and buy my little Butterball.... damn holidays... LOL

LOL, nope, just 3 liter pans, and a good liter..there's one thing I don't go for and that is a stinky house , when you have as many cats as I do, you ALWAYS have to be on top of things, poor cats, as soon as they go I am up there butts scooping liter, and if you walk in my house you won't even find a piece of hair, nobody believes I have 12 cats, I have never missed a night of not brushing them, it takes time but I love my kitties and I love my home, so it is a lot of work, but SO worth it, and I wouldn't have it any other way..

That is good to hear, sounds like both you and mousey have this cat thing figured out !! Myself, I love dogs...but never in my wildest thoughts could I imagine having 12 of them living inside with me, even 12 small one's...lol

Treeless in Ontario

I don't think I'll be getting up the tree yet again this year. My health just doesn't permit it, but the outdoor lights are still up from two years ago, and are now plugged it. Pretty lights will adorn my living room window come December 1st.

I just love that Mountain Dew tree. My favourite beer, James Ready 5.5 comes in a red and green can...hmmm, wanna come to a BYOB party and leave me the empties?

Did I mention I also have 2 dogs, a rabbit, a cockatoo and 3 cockatiels, LOL
Cats are so different than dogs, a majority of the day they sleep, you don't even know they exist, it's at night when they all come alive

Are you kidding?

So you don't give yourself time to enjoy it before Christmas comes? :(

When do you take it down?

it's gm. look at the avatar, he clearly rocks it old school.

i have a mini christmas tree tucked away somewhere, i am about to go digging through that storage room soon. my outside roof lights have fallen into the eaves and i don't feel like going up and fishing them out, too dangerous. hopefully i'll uncover a few decorations to spruce up the place though. and in my family the trees typically go up in the first half of december. christmas is great!

Some people are

The Christmas tree is to be enjoyed at Christmas! Do you cook your Thanksgiving turkey at Halloween?

No, but that's food.

So when do you take it down? Christmas day eve?

What's the use of going through all the time it takes to decorate on Christmas eve? We go to my dads on Christmas eve, spend time with family and are so busy there would be no way to do it then.

Ok Ok I got a good funnt story that well and truly relates to this thread.

Every year at my girlfriends parent house we actually go out at about 2 in the morning and cut down a real xmas pine tree.

Now the funny part is how we get the xmas tree, there is a family friend who is a DR and lives on about 5 acres of land and loves to grow those xmas pine trees out the front, Anyways ever year he has his favorite tree that he has looked after for the whole year and admires it so.

Welll!!!- at 2am about 6 of us go out drunk as skunks and cut the shit out of that tree and take it back home for decoration.
The DR then comes over and says what a beautiful tree you guys have and where did you get it is when we tell him the truth.

we have gotten away with thisn for the last 4 years in a row, he just seems to forget.

gotta love that christmas spirit!

A large part of Europe (those that have not been corrupted by the Americans) put up their Christmas tree on Christmas Eve, so it is possible. The children can decorate it, it gets them out of the way for a while. If you put up your tree a month early, it won't have any leaves left by Christmas. The traditional time to take it down is Epiphany.

Or maybe he does this on purpose....getting you, and you don't even know you were got. :D

i was always taught to feed the tree aspirin.

Our tradition was to always put our real tree up together on chistmas eve in anticipation of santas midnight visit. We (eight kids) would have a large dinner and we all would gather around the tree to decorate, have dinner and get ready for bed turning out all the lights except the twinkiling tree lights. Knowing we will have presents under the tree the next day..we all would be up around 5 am...

Today, I carry on this tradition even with my kids gone. We leave the tree up till new years day. (for luck) Just as my parents did.

The kids always loved this before they grew up.. they always asked why others had their trees up for so long without presents because it looked so bare and lonely ..because they knew that theirs would be up the night before xmas..full of presents....excitement and joy....

I always thought my parents were different growing up because of this but would never trade the feeling of family and togetherness we got doing it their way.

Nothing wrong with putting up a tree early...but even today I look at some beautiful trees decorated that look lonely and out of place so early in the season forgotten in the corner... I think this has desensitized many to the real reason for this holiday..(the stores are really guilty of this)

.

Go out to the tree farm on the weekend of thanksgiving.
My tree will be up on Sunday until Jan1st
start off by drilling 5 holes on the bottom of the tree and give it Hot water for the next 3 days & after that cold water until you take it down.
I have never made any of my trees dry out.

cats and dogs and things oh my

i,ve got you all beat lol i have one big 30 pound cat,6 dogs, one hamster, one water trutle,2 land trutles, fish, and 2 alligaters that my 2 1/2 year old loves to feed lol and five kids on top of that lol. marry x-mas everyone:) oh and my tree goes up about 2 weeks before x-mas never had one dry out on me and i don,t have to worrie about my cat just my little girl stealing candy canes lol.

Its been a tradition in our family for years to put up our tree after Thanksgiving (Sunday) and we have it up until New Year. I enjoy the 30 days of pretty lights and ornaments. I dont think anything is an abomination if it has meaning to your family

Since we are not having a party this season , the tree is in our bedroom!! Yes, you read it right LOL. I spend alot of time here so I might as well enjoy it, besides, its kind of romantic looking in the evening.
