Hail Caesar

Need a mid-week excuse to drink?

Thursday May 19th is National Caesar Day.

For those as don't know, a Caesar is a Canadian concotion and is essentially a Bloody Mary, though over here we use clamato juice (a clam/tomato cocktail) and ya, they're damned delish!

Cheers!

yup very tasty! Although I can only drink one or two of them than I need to switch to something else for a bit. Then return a little later. I also find them filling. If Im going out for a nice dinner, I try not to drink them cause they get me full!

I dont drink mine with a straw because I like to taste the celery salt on the rim of the glass.

Same, I like the celery salt rim, and can also only do a few before switching to beer (then coming back lol).
I also like the deviation from the original of using tabasco (and sometimes, a hint of horseradish)...a lemon wedge is good too. The celery stalk I can do without.

A great deck sipping drink though.

Enjoy though :)

I can see the aversion, but it's EXTREMELY popular here. I've never actually seen someone ever order a bloody mary....the bars'd be more likely to look at you funny for NOT saying Caesar.

Fair enough. We all have national and regional food and drink favourites.

To be fair, even a Bloody Mary sounds hideous to me. Tomato as a drink strikes me as odd. Add seafood into the mix and, as someone who doesn't eat any at all, then it becomes a nightmare for me!

Bloody hell what's going on? Is there a day for everything??

How about National 'Day' Day?

National Toejam Day?

National scratch Your Arse Day?

lol, well, it IS our national drink...and we are a bunch of bloody lushes over here. :p

They really should have had it on a Sunday. It's extremely popular as a brunch beverage. Bacon Caesars are a bit of a rage currently.

Even the dollar stores carry Clamato juice, and major stores have house brands of Tomato Clam cocktail.

Don't knock it until you've tried it.

Ya, I dont pay for the Mott's price tag - just w/e no-name the store carries
