Going green

Hi all, First I just wanted to apologize for not being around at all for the past several months. Things right now for me are a total clusterf***, and I'm just dealing with that the best I can.

Right now I just need to get my life back in order, and to do that, I need to focus on me, with as little 'distractions' as possible. And unfortunately, all forms of gambling fall under that description.

So, I've decided to go green, and rid my computer of all casinos and poker rooms.

Most everyone here is great people, and I'll miss you all, but I just wanted everyone to know that I'm still alive and well. :)

Have a good one....

Brian aka winbig :)

ps: if anyone wants to stay in touch, I guess my contact options (yahoo, etc) will still be listed here.........

Brian - I wish you the best.

I may follow suit shortly - not because of gambling issues - but because life does not always allow for distractions - and you're right gambling is a major distraction for a lot of us.

Hugs - much.

And if you're back - cool - if not - cool - no matter - I WISH YOU WELL!!

M

Hey Brian (Winbig) I wish you the best man.
And if your ever in Ct let me know and I'll treat ya for lunch or dinner at Foxwoods or the Mohegan Sun Casino.
Your one of the good ones
Take care & be good

Goodluck Winbig...I'll miss you too.

Sometimes people think there is only a problem with gambling if you are losing more than you can afford.

The loss of your time and your focus can be more indicative of a problem than the loss of your money even.

Hope you find time to pop in now and again just to say hello! But if not, well, take care and I hope all works out well for you.

Thanks all - actually, I'm surprised to even be able to post - I thought that going green meant you were banned, but that's ok..

Things are getting much better now, so I think I'll be back, in moderation :D

Even though last night I was the front car in a 3 car pileup on a major highway outside of Philly. Some idiot decided to talk on his cell phone or just not pay attention in stop and go traffic and rammed into the SUV behind me at probably 40mph or so. I'm assuming that the SUV was still rolling to a stop, because they in turn rammed into me. I was stopped and had been for about a minute or so. I heard the screech of tires, a big bang, then as I was wondering where the accident was, the next thing I know I'm getting hit in the rear and jerked forward at amazing speeds. I ALWAYS wear my seatbelt, or I'm sure I would have hit the windshield. The blow even sent my rearview mirror flying, and even knocked out one of my air vents in the dash....

My bumper is totaled (maybe even the trunk lid), and I'm only hoping that I don't have frame damage, because if so, they'll just total the car since it's a '98. The main thing is that I'm fine. I ended up getting checked out at the hospital for neck/back pain, but it all came out ok. I'm surprised that my airbags didn't go off, but apparently the SUV rode over the top of my bumper and didn't hit the sensors.

But to add insult to injury, when they took the x-rays, they found that I have arthritis and bone spurs in my neck! Geeze, when it rains, it pours! I guess that the accident might have been a blessing, though, because since I haven't had neck pain before, the spurs are somewhat new and hopefully they can do more about them since they haven't been around long.

I just love idiot drivers!

I missed this thread first time around too. Welcome back, and glad your accident wasn't worse!

I have that too in my neck and shoulders. I pretty well lost the use of my right arm and had to have orthoscopic surgery to remove spurs from one shoulder about 10 years ago. They're starting to grow back but not enough to go under the knife again just yet. It doesn't hurt all the time, but when it does hurt it's miserable. For me it seems to be triggered by cold damp weather. (and I live in Edmonton....sheesh)

Anyhow I use topical anti-inflammatory cream (ibuprofen or voltaren) when it's bad and it helps a lot. Just in case it ever starts to bother you, give that a try. :)

OMG! I am so glad you are okay! You surely have a guardian angel watching over you. I am glad to see you posting again, have missed you.

Thanks :)

Well, there's a 99% chance they're going to total it. I went to the shop that State Farm (his insurance) sent me to, and they found more damage and it ended up at just over $3,000 to fix. Pretty much right around what the book value is, and somewhat more than the market value for the car in this area.

So anyways, they're paying for a rental car until they figure it out :) Yay. Looks like a 2009 Pontiac Vibe :D

I am glad you can have a sense of humor about this. Not to derail from your incident but, last year there was an incident here (NY) where a young girl was texting while driving. She failed to notice the cars ahead of her were stopped due to an accident. She rearended a mother and daughter who both parished in the accident. Yes parished, the Jeep they were driving became engulfed in flames and they both burned before anyone could get them out. So, I am very glad you don't seem to have any serious repercussions from this.

Wow, that's sad :(

I did find out that the driver is from Georgia, so that's actually great, for me. In Pennsylvania, we have Tort options. Well, I have limited tort insurance, but, three exceptions to the tort laws is that a driver either be: Drunk, Out of state, or caused very serious injuries. So what it boils down to is that I now have a case for punitive damages.

I saw my doc yesterday, and he's ordered PT 3x a week for at least 6 weeks. I'm on flexaril and tylenol #4.

State Farm is being great about this. They only got the claim yesterday not long before I called, but they immediately claimed liability, I think mostly because the driver was charged with careless driving. I want to go to this guy's day in court, but I'm not sure if I can take off work. I'd love to be able to testify. I at least want them to pull his cell records up and see if he was on the phone at the time. If so, he lied to the state trooper, and I would almost think that the charges would be upgraded to reckless driving which is even more serious.

It's ironic, but I actually have a job as a driver now, for 3 developmentally disabled people. At least I'm not doing any lifting or standing for long periods, or I wouldn't even be able to work at all since the accident. I'll just have to live with the pain during work, since I can't take those meds and still drive.

Get something with a BIG metal rear bumper. With spikes on it. :D

I'm looking around, mostly at trucks, like a Ranger or s10..:p

Thanks for all your support :)

Hey Win buy a Armored Truck and drive here and pick me up:lolup:
We can drive right into Foxwoods & the Mohegan Sun's Vault so we can load it up.

Great to see ya Winbig

I'm about ready to quit driving any highways altogether...:eek2:

i suspect this was staged to get tylenol #4 & a new Pontiac Vibe

In re: my comment above..it gets better.

So I'm coming back from State Farm where they cut me a check Thursday...

I'm doing about 65 in the passing lane, and this idiot driver flies by me on the right and cuts in front of me about 6-12 inches in front of my bumper. I jam on the brakes to avoid hitting him and lock up the ABS system.

Well, I get about 100 feet further, and the whole car sounds like you're going down the road with a flat tire, but worse. It's shaking, shuddering, and emitting a sound that would pop your eardrums if you had to listen to it for too long.

Long story short, Enterprise sent out a tow truck, the driver dropped me off at the nearest Enterprise location, and went back to tow the Vibe. I'm now in a 2010 Elantra.

Looking back, it seems that something is screwed up with the ABS system in the Vibe now, because it just makes sense. It's like you were going down the road with all 4 tires locked up from the e-brake or something....bleh.

I go 20 years without an accident, and now I have 1 and almost a 2nd in less than a week? This is nuts...

Good news is that they totaled my car and I ended up with more than what I paid for it 6 months ago. I did find another car for a little more, but it's worth it. It's a 1999 Mercury Mystique, tan, leather, loaded, 58,000 miles and a 1 owner. :D

It's almost the same as a Ford Contour, and has the same frame, etc...

I'll have pics this weekend, but this is what it looks like, but tan:

:)

Oh yea, start physical therapy for the next 6+ weeks the 17th. :(

Good grief! Remind me not to catch a ride with you anywhere til you get this 'let's get in an accident' thing out of your system. :)

Actually, I'm 38 years old now, and I've only had one other accident in my life - and that was when I was 18. That one wasn't my fault, either...go figure.

I've had a couple of speeding tickets in my life, but those were also many moons ago. :)
