Brilliant! The drummer (he came in after Philthy Animal) comes from about a mile from where I live. Don't forget Hawkwind, one of my favourite bands, Silver Machine needs a mention. The band tried every member before deciding Lemmy was the only one who could do the vocals properly for Silver Machine.....

It makes me puke when I think of all the crap solo artists, 'talent' show winners and so-called r'n'b bands which now infest the charts, most of whom couldn't play an instrument or compose a song.

Yeah - then they sacked him

Their loss was music's gain: I played Ace Of Spades on 11 yesterday and besides hurting my ears, it bought back great memories. By the way, that song was about gambling - inspired by the symbols on fruit machines which Lemmy was addicted to when he was a teenager. The Ace Of Spades is an unlucky card (Aces and Eights = Dead Man's Hand following some guy being shot at the poker table while holding those cards) and you'll hear gambling references throughout the song.
