I'd love to hear you're thoughts on this subject, as some believe that every element of gaming is governed by luck. On the other hand, there are those who believe that success can’t truly be reaped in gaming unless a player utilises carefully-honed skill.

So what is gaming governed by: luck or skill?

Outcomes are 100% luck due to the (apparent ) total random nature of the games.

I do feel there is a 'skill' portion of gaming however. This I feel includes the following...

What slots to play, what slots to avoid, what bet sizes to start out at, when to increase/decrease bet, when to change game, which casinos to play at/avoid, when to withdraw, never to reverse, all could loosely be described as 'skill' based IMO.

I'm with Jon on this one.

The only "skill" I recently used is when to cash out before the slot turns cold. With IR (the slot I have been playing most recently) this has worked because after I cashed out it suddenly turned and took money almost quicker than it gave.

I agree with the above posts. My approach to gambling is that it is not how much you win but how little you lose.
It applies much more comfortably with card games, especially online group games such as texas holdem, but it can easily be applied to online slots. Don't expect to win big and be tight with what you have got.

Bankroll management is the key and self discipline is a skill in itself. Though there are times when the session is doomed regardless of what slot is played.

As for cpu based table games, they're more bent than a 9- bob note. Following any type of skilled play is pointless, unless you're some type of soothsayer

It's luck and completely random in terms of getting a decent to big base game win (25x plus) and also hitting the free spins. However, i believe the player can mitigate this by "anticipating" when to increase bet size or decrease. This, like any gambling strategy, is far from full proof but from my experience it does work often, but being the gamblers we all are, when it does work you think it will continue, and you either up your bet or fail to drop it right back down. So knowing when to stop and switch games is the hardest skill of all to learn.

A very serious question requiring a very serious answer of course..
In my case it's really black and white:

I lose? that was PURE bad luck!
I won? now there's a skilled punter doin his thang, if you ever saw one! :p

Total skill? Using the fine semantics of how (the applied g-forces, finger movements, and if outside, the influence of the wind) and when (time of day, alignment of the stars and similar scenarios in parallel universes) exactly to press that spin button, and of course where (the longitude and latitude of the casino's server, the spot you are in whilst spinning) all play a big role in the acquiring of this skill called "gambling".

Don't be fooled by the definition of the word itself, not for one second! That was an elaborate plan of the people that saw the future, they forced the Dictionary people to give the word a false meaning, making us believe it actually is all a luck based random event, on which we put our monies....

:D

Here is the correct answer for the OP:

I am offering you a brightly-coloured savings account at my bank. You don't get a pass-book but you do get an account number.

The account pays you an interest rate of -4%, compounded. The longer you save, the lower the interest rate as the -4% compounds.

Come now, IT'S EASY, no strategy - sign-up! The rate is guaranteed!

Like the account? Then don't worry, if your balance reaches zero you can invest one of our overdrafts or credit cards into it! If you're really brave we'll remortgage your house and charge you 5% on the loan and invest that into our super-spinning -4% special account too to give you an overall rate of -9% !!

How can you refuse?

I'm surprised more people don't use my method of slotting. I tend to kiss the screen three times, then whisper sweet nothings into the left USB port. Make sure to have Eye of the Tiger playing on cassette or else it won't work.

On specialist games like DOA things can get a bit more tricky. Best thing to do here is to sit naked and wear the relevant attire, in this case a cowboy hat. They shouldn't be hard to come by.

When it looks like the game wants to cheat you, one has to lick the screen in an anti- clockwise, circular motion. This has brought me more 5 scatters than I've had sex. With Taylor Swift.

So there you go, no need to thank me. The only time it hasn't worked is every time.

An element of skill is involved if the games are not random, or have been incorrectly implemented. The first skill is spotting such a game, and the second is making the profit without the casino catching on and yanking the game.

Apart from that, it's mostly strategy, rather than skill at the game itself.

Luck, it's all luck, unless you are competing against other players, either at poker or in tournaments.

Then there is also strategy involved.

There's a need to read and understand terms, I guess you could call it a skill.

Never pass up a chance to enter a free contest where you are playing anyway, or a leaderboard. Someone wins that trip, or that gadget.

If you play slots, choose your bonuses carefully. Some are better than others. The best of them will let you lose a little less than expected.

And should you get lucky, know that it exactly what it is, and make the most of it by cashing out and spending most of it on something real.

Don't know if it's a skill, but do a little research.

All the luck in the world will be wasted if you play at a clip joint that won't pay you if you do win.

And even the best of casinos will not pay you if you break the rules.

Signed... recently lucky.

Hm, I saw similar topics so much times on each forum and I practically have the standard answer for such cases you can not implement your skills in slot games. It's the same as trying to use your skills in internet roulette. Yes, it may have some use in real life and land-based casinos but in this case you are powerless. Totaly there are two types of slot games: free slot games for fun and for real money and surprisingly they have different coefficients of "luck". I mean that playing the free slot games you will win more often than in games for real money. But, in fact you can not influence the game. Playing free slots with no downloading and no registration

I've noticed that after 100-120 plays I had more than 3400 coins on my account, but playing for real money after the same number of games passed, I had just 50 coins on my account. Both in two places I used the same strategy to play slots and made even the same bets... Don't know if it's rue, but I think that this is just a game to play it for luck, not for skills...

This is it.
