Hey Guys,

already twice i decided to take a full stop from Gambling for a while as i've had a lot of things on my plate. Both times it was easy in the beginning, but then after a while i just wanted to try out the new games again :)

Money-wise i'm pretty on spot and know (mostly) when to stop so that it doesn't piss me off too much, but time wise it often turned out to eat too much time... Due to my breaks and my comebacks i've learned the following things that help me control my time and money balance better, thought i'll share it with you guys.

1. Do not use dozens of casinos. Although it's cool to receive offers from so many casinos all the time it is also tempting to deposit more than you want to. I blocked most of my casinos account except a few which i really want to play often. So more specifically i've went from 40+ accounts to about 8.

2. Have your strict rules about deposits. I look each months at my bills, the planned events, etc. and decide then what i can afford and what i WANT to afford for gambling. If i win, i can of course be a bit flexible with this, but i always tell myself a "MAX LIMIT" for the month and i stick to that no matter what.

3. As tempting it can be if i hit big, i decided that my absolutely MAX BET (if i have a great bankroll) is 5$. I will not bet higher than this no matter what. Back in the past, when had huge wins i started doing insane bets, and the problem with that is, if you did this once and you won, it's hard to go back to smaller bets.

4. Never let Online Casinos be your first priority. If friends want to go out - That's the first priority. If your girlfriend wants to do something - That's the first priority. If your dog needs to take a s*(ç - That's the first priority. I only game these days when i do not have something else going on and also ONLY if i have a few hours to spare. Why? Back int he past if i had 1 hour nothing to do, i went to the online casinos... If you know that you have only an hour it's more tempting if you're down a bit to "risk all you've deposited" and start betting stupid. If i have a few hours, i play more with a strategy, and smaller bets because there's no rush.

5. Make your OWN cashout limits and stick to them. I have personal cashouts limits and whenever i reach those amounts i withdraw. Also then always think about what you could do with this money... So if you win 500$ don't just put it aside, think about maybe what needs to be done and use it for this. If you have a lot of money sitting in an e-wallet, it will feel much less painful to re-deposit it, so i tend to only leave a small amount on my e-wallet and send the rest directly to my bank/card etc.

6. If you win big - Stop for 1-2 days at least. Everytime i won a cool amount, if i deposited shortly after this, i played differently. If you win 1000$ and you play immediately again after this, another 100$ don't sound really good, so you will probably play it back or risk more. It always helped me after a big win to stop for one or two days at least.

I know that my hints are probably not for everyone, but i just thought i'll share my personal experience and what helped me being a better gambler ;-)

Of course, i guess in 10 years i will have Version 3.4.9 of this with more things i've learned, but i thought i'll share it with you guys.

Happy spinning! :)

Cheers,
Hoff

Really excellent points here Hoff1985, I agree with pretty much all of them. It's always good to see other people's gambling habits, makes for a good read.

Plus this works as a great guide for anyone who's new to this hobby, it's very easy to get carried away.

I would have #4 at the top though, it can get tempting to continously harbour thoughts of gambling even when doing something else. The lines can get blurred between wanting to and needing to gamble. The further gambling is down the list of one's priorities, the better it is for everyone involved I think.

Thanks for the tips, I will look to implement a few myself
