So I get this text from the Gala about their Black Widow promo
This is the entire text

'Play the Black Widow slot and be one of 500 winners of £15,000 at galacasino.com!
21-31 August! T+C apply. Txt STOP to82898 to unsub'

I then head to the website, look up the promotion

On casino promos page the link reads

'Black Widow, win a share of £15,000

Can you conquer the most enthralling slot on the 'web'?
play the Black Widow and be one of 500 winners of £15,000'

There's a button to 'learn more'. I click that.
The next page is headed with

THE BLACK WIDOW WATCHES
£15,000 prizes, 500 winners

then the subheading is

Beware the Black Widow's bite and be one of 500 winners of £15,000

The rest of the page then goes onto explain that every 10 pounds wagered gets you a ticket for the draw
and that the prizes are
20 amounts of 100 pounds,
30 amounts of 75 pounds,
100 amounts of 50 pounds,
15 amounts of 25 pounds,
200 amounts of 10 pounds

So in fact despite saying on two different webpages and in a text to my phone that there will be 500 winners of 15,000 pounds
that is not remotely the case. it's a single sharepot and the highest prize is 100 pounds.

Is this misleading or a genuine error?
I certainly went to the page under the impression there were 500 prizes of 15 grand! I wouldn't have bothered if I thought the top prize was 100
and I'm lucky that CM site has taught me to read the Ts and Cs carefully

We can't post links but it's on the galacasino.com website under the promotions tab.

Maybe not worded the best it can be but I don't think its deliberately trying to mislead people. It might look like its prizes of £15,000 but reading more closely shows its definitely a share of a prize pool. On there coral page it says the same £15k to 500 players but when you click on it it tells you clearly that its £15k shared between 500 players. Maybe not worded best but not trying to mislead anyone on purpose. They have same sort of promotions every week.

There are a whole heap of online casinos that advertise misleading promotions.

One I found recently was offering double payouts for getting a royal flush in video poker.
I thought it was quite generous so I responded to the promotion.
Only to find in the fine print that it was only for a PAT royal in hearts.
Which drastically reduces the value of the promotion to next to nothing.

False advertising imo, if it was in real life they run the risk of being sued.

Well clearly the headline should have been "Play Black Widow and be one of 500 winners to share £15,000!"
The site is British, they know English and this cannot be anything but a 'deliberate mistake' IMO.....

Black Widow Giveaway

Hi all,

Thanks to everyone for the feedback. I can assure you that any implication that we were giving away £7.5 million in prizes (500 X £15,000) for playing this game on the Coral site was completely accidental. On the main banner on the Games tab at
You do not have permission to view link Log in or register now.
the text states
"Black Widow £15K giveaway in cash prizes" which I think is quite clear and on the Offers tab we state

"Coral £15K Black Widow Giveaway!

Coral Gaming are giving away a venomous £15K in cash prizes to 500 players.
Enter the Web of winners!" Will add the word "Share" into this to clarify.

I will speak to my colleagues at Gala and ask them to review the text on the website and mobile to try and ensure this doesn't lead to further queries. If you ever see anything like this at Coral please do not hesitate to PM me and I'll look into it. When marketing these promotions we often read and re-read text so many times with minute changes that we can miss things that could seem obvious to others. Again sincere apologies here, absolutely no malice intended and luckily the OP didn't play towards the offer on this occasion.

Best regards

Anthony

Gala Update

Hi all,

Just a quick note to update that Gala changed their offers page shortly after I reported this to them this morning. Again our sincere apologies to anyone that felt mislead about this offer, that was not our intention but we accept that this could have been worded better on this occasion. As we run quite a few offers like this we'll take note for the future to minimise confusion and customer contacts.

Thanks again for bringing this to our attention

Anthony
