Hey Y'all,

Been a while since i posted here, since VS kicked us all out.... anyway i have a question for everyone....

What would you do???

Ok so heres the thing. I logged into a site the other day i noticed i had a deposit bonus to get 50 free spins 25x wagering. So i made a deposit and played my balance down and then went to activate the spins. The spins were on three games and you could choose one. I picked my game went to it, but the free spins never loaded, i logged out and logged back in, reloaded the game i chose and they werent there, exited the game ... went into live chat and told them, they said they forfeited the first lot and reloaded the reward to my account. so thought id try a different of the 3 games and went to the 2nd slot of choice, they loaded wham bam thankyou mam.....
I won $40 to play and wager 25X before i could withdraw, so i thought i may go back and try the original slot that the free spins wouldnt load on, fired up the slot and low and behold the 50 spins were now there.....

I was like ok great double bonus....

So heres where it gets weird.....

I started playing the spins, each time i got any win i had to refresh the game, once i refreshed it completed that spin and then continued playing down the 50 spins each win having to refresh.... At the end of the 50 spins i had won $60 from the second lot so in total $100 approx id have to wager

Heres the weird part, at the end of the 50 spins i logged into my account and wanted to see how high my bonus was and wagering etc and it had added the $60 straight to my balance, no bonus, no wagering on it and it was just the $40 that had wagering and the $60 converted straight to real money.

Now this site doesnt do wager free spins so io was shocked and i have done this exact thing twice now....

What would you do, tel someone or stay quiet?

The casino will check your winnings if there was a bonus involved especially if it’s a dodgy casino.

I had a successful withdrawal the second time I tried it. Mind you I was more curious to see if it worked as opposed to trying to rip them off...

Personally I believe you should report it if you know it's erroneous. We're all quick enough to call out casinos for any perceived errors or player-unfriendly stuff.

Very true and some sage words....

It'll be good to see if it picks up what the other forumers think

I think you would be wise to report it, if its half decent casino they be greatful and probably let you keep the winnings.
Some may confiscate some or all and quote t and cs at you, I have had both happen.
Biggest problem is that in the current climate you dont want to give them any extra excuses for voiding winnings
they have enough of those already.

On the flip side, casinos are non too quick to tell you if you are losing out due to game bugs and rarely compensate
you.I had a running battle with VS and BTG over white rabbit not recording wins correctly on feature buy which was never resolved
Quite a few players lost out without knowing about it.I think the game was quietly updated but no apology or compensation was offerred.

I've read more than once of players doing "the right thing" only to be shot down in flames and not even a thank you from the particular casino in question at the time.

I also have a strong belief in morality, truth and integrity, however these would be tested slightly given your situation.

Use this to hopefully make the right decision, whatever that turns out to be, keep us posted lol!

At the end of the day, it is THEIR responsibility to ensure bonuses are set up correctly and the onus is not on the player, nor does it state in any T&C's I have come across over the years that players are responsible for reporting any 'faults' ;)

I would however report it should it turn out to be the casino I used for the majority of my sessions to avoid losing my account, if it was a 'flying visit' type place then I think I'd keep quiet.

I’m a pretty honest individual so even though players are often on the receiving end of casino “errors” I’d advise them what has happened.

If they make no effort to recognise my honesty, even with so much as a thank you, then I’ll close my account and tell them to swivel. I know good deeds should be altruistic but as others have said, many casinos tend to not be so willing when the shoe is on the other foot, with exceptions naturally.

As legit player I would report it asap, once there was some deposit reward fro 100fs on BOD at VS, so i made deposit and my 100fs was simply not there, reload clear cookies nothing, went to chat they manually added 100fs, so i played them but after i finish i had another set of 100 fs, so i went to chat asap saying hey i got twice 100fs can you please cancel them, response was ty for info only few plp would report this and as a good will you can keep those fs and if i remember correctly CS sad we cant remove them manually so gl with your fs, so you have nothing to lose report that glitch before someone else will report and you will feel better as if something dont belong to you dont take it!

Some fair points on both sides here. There are definitely many casinos out there that are high and mighty about integrity and player honesty until it's time for them to demonstrate their own and they get real quiet - not to mention some casinos that may have got their starts from less than ethical means many years ago.

In particular, the "malfunction voids all pays and plays" rule is 95% of the time only used to protect casinos - when a casino finds or is informed of a bug in their software, it usually just gets "fixed" in silence - they're more than happy to take away the winnings from players who exploited a bug, but you almost never see any kind of audit to determine which players may have been harmed by a bug and refund them - players who likely would never find out they got screwed.

But still, I think most of the time you're probably better off just reporting the error. Even if you don't take into account the moral factor, it's not worth trying to pull one over for a few bucks, and if it's more than a few bucks, it will likely be found before you get your money. In some cases, you may even risk your legitimate winnings if a mistaken bonus or bug adds funds to your account, so it's often better to get it sorted out immediately, before doing more gambling.

And if the casino respects their players, they'll likely just let you keep a small extra bonus anyway, knowing that by making the customer happy they might see a return on their business later anyway. If not, at least you'll know they're kind of a stingy bunch.

As the old saying goes....Never look a gift horse in the mouth ;)

My conscience wouldn't let me take the money and run, I would have to advise the casino of the error - who knows maybe the casino will let you keep the money anyway as a gesture of goodwill :)

I see it as theft, sorry but if you know something doesn't belong to you, why keep it - a firm believer that honesty pays off.

What an interesting thread!

I guess you got to do what your Mum and Dad would want you to do?! My parents raised me to be honest though if I had been raised to be a bit more ruthless I imagine I would be richer. You should do what makes you feel happy? But what about karma?

Oooh what a conundrum! I know.....I sentence you to reading Crime and Punishment by Dostoevsky. A classic tale of morality and guilt, by the time you finish it you would have probably forgotten what casino you were on - problem solved!

All joking aside if it's a new casino to you and you've not withdrawn before they will be checking everything. If their decent they will give you something for the honesty and if their not you probably won't get your money anyway.

Might be some setup issue in promotions wagering or something incorrectly when it was created or just some bug, myself would inform casino as they should for sure see this latest tomorrow form their reports and person who going to approve your withdrawal should probably check your game play especially because bonus involved.

Would guess that they would for now happily let you keep your winnings, as said when checking your game play and where winnings are, person should realize amount of WR and how much done etc.... Then most bonus terms have clause that if there are technical issues which player benefit and used from, these winnings can be voided. So would just give them a shout, at least they should like you and give you bit something for letting them know instead of trying to abuse it much as possible, then they would like you much less :)

I tend to operate under enlightened self interest. Rationale being if I kept it to myself, and even did withdraw, the gambling gods would find a way of correcting this heinous act. So, for that reason, I’d tell them and hope they allowed me to keep it.

But not due to some moral reasoning. Cos I have none ;)

Bloody hell, the run I’m on I must have screwed over dozens of casino bonus bugs then.

Karma.. as a gambler, it's something you want to try and have on your side as much as possible.

Since I'd very much like to find myself dealing with the type of casino that comes back after an investigation into a slot error to tell you that you won the jackpot Mega Fortune hits in Sweden at HyperCasino I'll stick to keeping my dealings as fair and above board as possible in any given situation.

Much like Pascal's Wager, in this particular scenario the smart bet is believing in the cosmic yin and yang of the universe ;-)
