Marcel Luske, also known as The Flying Dutchman in poker circles, has been named Player of the Year at the European Poker Awards in Helsinki, Finland. His star status was recognized due to his excellent results in the recent competition.

Luske managed to overcome famous poker gurus Willie Tan, Ram Vaswani, Dave Colclough and Lucy Rokach in Barcelona amongst six final table appearances in Europe, winning the prestigious accolade. This striking tournament identified Rookie of the Year this title was grabbed by Finnish Jani Sointula who won in the Monte Carlo Millions.
According to Pokernews.info, Swede Martin De Knijff received the award for Best Tournament Performance, having won a $2.7m in the $25,000 Bellagio WPT event. Estonian Andres Burget won the Casino Staff Person award for his development of poker in the Baltic States.

They were Alex Stevic, who was European World Series of Poker Trial finalist, EPT Barcelona Open winner, Noah Boeken, who won the tournament in Estonia, two final tables in Amsterdam, sixth in the EPT European Poker Classic in the Vic, final table in Barcelona, Mark Banin, Mattias Andersson and James Gardner-Brown.
