Is it just me, or is something not quite right about this...

Dear Van

I notice that at present you have 'Check' selected as your preferred payment method.

I would like to give you the option of getting your hands on your money a lot quicker and with less
effort!

Sound good? Well using ACH we are able to put your funds in your bank account for you. No waiting
for the check in the mail, no going to your bank to cash it in, no waiting for it to clear - just
instant funds that you can access.

All I need to set this up is for you to reply to this email with the following details:

Account Number
Routing Number
Account Holder
Bank Name
Bank Address

I?ll change your preferred payment method for you and you can start enjoying really quick
withdrawals.

I look forward to hearing from you.

I always use Neteller so that's why I'm confused

Can you post the full headers? Would be interesting to know if it did come from CR directly or is just a phishing mail.

Phishing

I wouldn't give ANY bank info on an email like this. Call the casino cashier and ask them if they had asked you for it. The casinos make money from holding yours as long as possible (interest) so they may not have sent it. You can always give them the details over the phone if you find out it is legit.

i dont play there, but to me it sounds absolutely phishy.
I think - as winbig said - you shoujld contct them directly and inform them.
If its not phishing mail but serious, then ist really serious - and thats the reason, why i dont play there. :eek2:

Casino Rewards

I have not seen this from any other MG brand, these options are normally selected from within the banking software.
What is fishy, apart from it being Casino Rewards, is that the sender of this E-mail knows you play there, so must have had access to the player E-mail list, or is phishing in an almost barren river if sending this randomly as the hit rate compared to a bank security detail scam is very small.
The fact that they have misidentified your preferred payment method does not come into it, this is Casino Rewards CS for goodness sake:D
It would be advisable to give these details directly over the phone, or if you want to send an E-mail, construct a fresh message to the proper E-mail, do not reply to this one. If you already have the method you want then just ignore it.
It might be worth keeping an eye on this just in case this is the first sign of a new phishing scam and not the usual incompetence characteristic of this outfit.

Incidentally, I logged on to check my lucky number and BLIMEY!!!!!!!!!!!!

LIVE CHAT WAS WORKING:eek:

Casino Rewards E-Mail...

The E-mail seems legit... this was posted on the CAP forum by Renee... the Casino Rewards Affiliate coordinator, explaining it to some of their affiliates...

Dear FirstName

One of the payment processors that we use has advised us that there was a problem with a recent batch of checks that were issued to our players resulting in the check having to be voided.

Regrettably, your recent cashin which was issued through this processor and sent out on #Date# for #Amount# was found to be invalid and has since been reissued on 17th May 2006. You should be receiving this check shortly.

We appreciate that this is an inconvenience to you and therefore I have placed a bonus $20 into your casino account , #AccountNumber# .

So that we can avoid this happening in the future , Id like to give you the opportunity of getting your hands on your money a lot quicker and with less effort!

Maybe so

Maybe so, but this is a very insecure way of asking players to supply these details. This is worse than credit card details going astray, if these were to fall into the wrong hands there is enough to construct an electronic debit and there would be no protection for the victim as there often is with card fraud.
The bad check problem is at least not the fault of casino rewards; this problem seems to have affected many casinos recently. UK players are most likely OK (Eurozone probably OK too) as I have found that Proccyber use Lloyds TSB and issue the checks from a UK account.

even worse

if it s legit, i find it even worse. How can it happen that some of the Forums members got e-mail in which a wrong preference was stated?
Is this simply incompetence or how should i call it?

Vinyl is right - with the amount of Internet fraud attempts doing the rounds this is not a well thought out exercise (that's assuming that it is genuine)

And even the TSB Lloyds name has been fraudulently used by an incredibly inarticulate and clumsy crook using the virgilio email system just recently - I've been informed of several attempts on the "416" fraud model using the title of this very respectable UK bank.

Definitely an inconvenient way to ask for it. However, it sounds legit.

If you think about it, every time you write a check, you give exactly that same info to whoever you are writing that check to.
