First Chilean Miner Up!

Great to see some positive news; you have to admire the fortitude of those guys - what an awful situation to be trapped and in danger so deep within the earth for such a long time.

I've been down an ultra-deep gold mine and it's a memorable experience to say the least with heat, noise and at the back of your mind the possibility that something could go wrong.

The news reports say that a major player in this drama has been the foreman of the guys trapped underground, who kept them alive by rationing out the available food and keeping them occupied and fit. He is apparently to be the last man to come up, and is deserving of recognition as a courageous leader.

But what a technological achievement to get them out!

Loved the words of the last man up THAT WAS A LONG SHIFT :)

 He's looking at some HUGE overtime! I liked that he said TWICE, "We need to be sure this never happens again." Hopefully that was enough of a jab that there will be some kind of government control to ensure the safety of the workers in the future.

On a side note, I was reading one of the news articles and they were talking about the expense of the whole rescue operation - they said it was somewhere over $22 million dollars just for the equipment and we started talking about it and were wondering...if it had only been one guy, would they still have done this rescue?

I hope they would have, but I don't know.

Anyhow I'm just glad they're all safe and sound - what an experience to live through!
