Excellent book about slots

I'm part way through a fantastic book, those in the industry should definitely read it if you haven't already, as should anyone with an interest in gaming and particular slots and psychology.
It's a bit hefty price-wise so get it on expenses if you can...

It's by Natasha Dow Schull and called "Addiction by Design: Machine gambling in Las Vegas.
I know it sounds dry but it really isn't, it's a cracking read full of little insights and "Oh yeah, I never thought of that" nuggets.

I shall restrain myself until the paperback version is released, dragging the kindle price down with it but I would be interested to hear how strong the evidence is of increased addiction for machine gambling compared to other forms of gambling.

The article seems to show good evidence that newer slots are more engaging, faster paced and played for longer but I haven't seen any convincing evidence of a rise in problem gambling as a result. This casino lobby site argues that there has been no rise in problem gambling despite more casinos more slots and newer slots. It seems to cite reputable sources but if this book has evidence of a real rise in problem gambling I might shell out the full whack rather than wait.
