Hey I just got this mail from Littlewoods:

We have some EXCITING NEWS! Littlewoods Casino will soon be changing its name to Vernons Casino to bring you an even better online gaming experience.

What’s changing... The only thing that’s changing is our name and so there's no need for you to change anything.

• You will still be playing the same great games on the same website with the same software.
• Our website address will change to www.vernons.com
• Our contact details will change to casinosupport@vernons.com - but you will be dealing with the same friendly advisors.

Why we’re changing…
Littlewoods Casino and Vernons are part of the same company, who have been making winners for over 80 years. We’ve decided to combine the brands under one name to give you an even better online gaming experience.

How will it affect your Casino account?
It won’t affect your Casino account at all. Your account details, username, balances and VIP status will remain exactly the same. Plus all your favourite games will still be there so you won’t feel a thing.
Existing bonuses and cash and comp points balances will remain unchanged.

What to look out for...
We’ll email you closer to the time with all the details and information about playing with Vernons Casino.

Edit: sheesh I can't read...

and no.. please no.. damnit I just added reviews for littlewoods gaming and littlewoods poker..
all I'm doing lately is removing brands
first littlewoods moves from 888 group to sportech and now it ceases to exist.. ?!
either brands go up in smoke or programs decide they are going to screw over affiliates with ridiculous terms, like unibet.
damn you economic crisis! I hate you!!

Since nothing has changed apart from the name, how exactly does that "improve" anything:confused:

If anything, it can cause worries for those with accounts at both, and who now face having duplicate accounts at Vernons.

A change of software to Microgaming, for example, would be a substantive improvement in my view, especially if it included the full set of Fruities:D

Given the extensive thread on Vernons that - imo - doesn't read particularly positively, i can't really see this being a good thing. They were the same company anyway, but i can't see this rebranding attracting more customers.

Got a newsletter from them a couple days ago, informing affiliates about this change..
Also selling it as "exciting times", "very excited", "better service", "bigger promotions"...
grrr no sorry for any inconvienience this may cause :icon_evil
but then they did inform their affiliates.. even if it's a dead cat wrapped in gift paper.. that's me ending on a positive note :D

No great loss really. Since the Playtech switch they were pretty much identical in games, support and service to Vernons anyway and as ThePogg says: same company. Back in the day on Crypto they were quality - fast payouts, good support - then they switched to 888 and it all went downhill from there. Plus Playtechs like Bet365, Boyle, Paddy, Grosvenor and Fred etc have raised the bar on service and cashout speeds. Players simply don't have to put up with the reverse pending crap + slow processing time on cashouts at Playtechs anymore.

The 80 years thing reflects the fact that Littlewoods were a company doing footie pools long before the Internet came along. My Grandpa used to do them actually along with "Spot The Ball". I used to help him when I was a kid...kinda :D

As for affiliates, the mail I got said all tags were being kept and player accounts migrated so they've done the right thing there.

The marketing phrases used in situations like this are always amusing. They have to put a positive spin on things - that's what PR is all about - I expect even they know there's nothing remotely "exciting" or "bigger" or "better" about this but market forces dictate that you can't say anything negative from within about a brand, including talking about cutting costs. Remember Gerald Ratner?

That brings back memories. My dad used to do the Pools and Spot The Ball weekly for about 20 years,a guy came round the houses and collected the coupon and money then sent them off to Littlewoods.£2 a time and think he won once, £20 I think.

I done the Spot The Ball for him, spent ages trying to work out where all the players were looking to get the exact position of the ball.Thinking about it now actually, putting an x in the right place probably only put you into a prize draw with thousands of other people.

I used to play at Littlewoods regularly back in the Crypto days. When they moved away from Crypto their seemed to be a change in management ethos and they just weren't as player friendly. It was sad, but i've seen many casinos make similar moves.

Couldn't agree more - many companies could learn a lot by looking to the example that Bet365 set. Grosvenor have a lot to offer but still need to pull a few things together.

A hell of a lot better than the recent purchase of Bet24 by the Betsson group.
