Echeck compromised

Hi,
Does anyone know how to close out echeck? It now goes to Ipay.com. When I checked my account this morning I found out I had unauthorized transaction of over $900 removed from my account. I've already contacted my bank but wanted to close my echeck also. Any ideas?

wait, u used echeck.us.com? Or was it another? If indeed a third party echeck processor company is just gone on holiday making bogus ach transfers from ur account, I would think that closing any 'echeck' accts would be a token measure. Close the bank account to gtd. no more funny business.

And thanks for sharing, if u have any specifics, that would be great.

It went from my echeck to a paypal account. I don't have a paypal account. This happened last night. Kinda scary.

oh dear... close all compromised accounts... contact PayPal immediately, maybe they can track the thief down before he spends the money. Or have your bank contact paypal?

I wouldn't even know where to begin closing the holes if this happened...

You also need to do a thorough scan of your computer with something other than your resident AV. Look for key loggers (among other things)...

good luck to you, and let us know how this goes.

They have phone numbers on the home page, did you try calling? I just logged into my eCheck account (eCheck us) and everything looked fine and dandy. I never leave more than a couple bucks in that account, since I have trust issues! But they have been OK with me.

Good Luck and I really hope you get this straightened out with a good ending.

UPDATE:
I closed out both my checking account and my echeck account. The bank has now retrieved the money from the paypal account it went to and returned it to me. I was told by the bank that I may never know who actually took the monies out of my account. I've been gambling online since 1999 and this is the first time I've had anything like this happen.
However, the money is now back and I've learned my lesson. I really miss the good old days of Neteller.

The free versions available are good enough in my experience. No need to buy pro versions.

Run all three, one after the other. If neither of those tools reveals any real nasty stuff, you should be OK.

How does one do such a scan? What programs should I use?

There's a good answer.
